"Get a second battery just for the anchor, this thing has a ton of draw. I had 4 group 27 deep cycles and had to switch to a pair of group 31s for the batteries, an 8D would be suggestible."

"I just wanted to start out that I have owned the boat since 2007. It did not have an anchor windlass and I anchored out many times a season using a helper to pull the anchor while I was at the helm. Anchoring out alone was a chore, even in just a light wind. Since I installed the EZ system last year and used it for a full season, it is definitely a game changer. I can now go out and anchor at multiple spots in a single day by just standing up in the convertible at the helm and using the supplied remote control. No one has to go forward at any time. I read about the many issues of a windlass, and this drum system has been bullet proof with dozens of retrievals and no issue with the 175 ft of 1/2 nylon and about 50 ft of stainless chain. With the Rocna anchor and chain weight, it would be near impossible to pull up by hand. I am currently operating the boat in the upper Chesapeake.

I installed the Rebel EZ-4 Anchor Puller on my 1987 Silverton 34 ft convertible. The installation instructions made install easy (obviously there is some work, but the kit made it easier). The mechanical install up front on the boat went well with the backing plates provided in the kit. Make sure you do some planning and marking prior to starting the install. I opted to put a third battery forward which is charged by the engines and now part of the total battery bank. Again, with the support and instructions, the total install went really well and quicker than I thought.

"I purchased the E-Z 5 1 1/2 years ago. It has worked perfectly until it did not. I called the factory and total them it must be the motor. They send me a motor. Still did not work. I contacted a marine electrician who found the 1/0 battery cable that was installed 34 years ago that rounded a wooden bulkhead has worn 95%
thru so only a few wires were left. Just enough to show power but when switch was engaged there was no power. New cable and works perfectly.

"I really like this winch. It is quiet, very strong and fast. And it is holding up well to salt water. The 12v wireless controller that I ordered with it was not the best though. The controllers had poor range, they are not waterproof, and they run down the batteries really quickly. Also, they they activate the winch for about 3/4 of a turn, even if you just tap the button for an instant. We eventually tossed the controller and bought a wireless winch controller from a 4x4 company, and have had much better results. "
