"After sending many emails to the company about my dying bonsai they just keep telling me the same thing. Nothing!
I have done everything they told me and my juniper bonsai is still dying. The branches and needles are dry and falling off. I can't even touch it without getting a needle stuck in my finger.
Plus it is full of gnats, constantly flying around the juniper.
It is ridiculous."
"I received a beautiful tree! No, it doesn't look exactly like the picture but why would you expect that? After reading some bad reviews, I was hesitant to order from this company. But now, if I ever want to order another bonsai, I'll be using this company. I loved the pot it came in too! It was so carefully packaged and was pest free! Thank you so much!
I also received a cute, unique, and healthy little succulent!"
"Eastern Leaf customers- I would not recommend ordering from here! Ordered a “bonsai” tree for a gift for my husband. Received a sad dying tree that in no way looked like the tree I thought I would get. Reached out to customer support and they asked for photos. Sent them pics and received a canned response letting me know they would not provide a shipping label and return shipping would be on me. $75 later I got rid of the miserable thing but needless to say I will never order from this company again.
Photo below of what I ordered and then what I actually received. Do yourself a favor and buy from a local nursery!!!"
"Bait & switch. They show you a flowering plant on the website. You expect to receive a flowering plant, and all you get is green leaves. When you ask, "Why no flowers?". They tell you it's the wrong season and you have to flower it yourself. I wouldn't have ordered if I'd known this tiny detail."
"I have seen a lot of negative reviews here but so far I am very happy with this nursery. I ordered 3 healthy bonsai, no issues with bugs, damage or anything else. "
"We bought a bonsai for our boss as a gift and when she received the bonsai it was completely dead.
Called Eastern Leaf and after several emails/calls they did finally send a replacement bonsai which was delivered at least in better shape than the first one. But within a couple days it was dying , we had it in correct light, maintained the watering as directed.
I did try to revive it but gave up hope so I called Eastern Leaf again and this time because it wasn't in seven days of the delivery date they could not give me a full refund and since I already got a replacement there was nothing else they could do.
Horrible and unacceptable. We paid good money for this dead bonsai and now we have to throw it away.
I would not recommend this company at all to anyone.
Very disappointing experience. "
"My teenage son purchased a bonsai for me for Christmas .when it arrived it did not have one single leaf on it.it was a stick.im sure my son did not intend to purchase a stick.however customer service told us that this type of tree does this in the winter.we cared for it as instructed and started to get some buds. It was never thriving. We called multiple times and they kept giving us instructions that we followed.now it’s a stick again and we ask for our money back or a new one.they tell us we are out of the 30day return policy now.the customer service representative was so rude and condescending.she just kept speaking over me and saying there’s nothing they can do but offer a $5 reward on another purchase.what an insult I will never purchase from them again and according to the other reviews either will other people.thats why they have a 1star rating.i hope not giving good reasonable customer service is worth it.i don’t know how you stay in business.my young son was attempting to do something nice as a Xmas present and would of never expect a baron tree as a gift.we followed all their steps and attempted to work with the. And still no reimbursement even though originally when we first called we were in the 30 day return period.my next review is with BBB.this is a horrible company to deal with with poor service and product.i wold give them a zero if I could!!"
"Ther support doesn't care about you."
"Ordered 2 plants for my wife as birthday gift for $108! Both completely died! Worst mistake and purchase in my entire life. Go to a local store and buy. Do not buy! "
"I bought a bonsai as a Christmas present for my daughter. It came with yellow leaves dropping off of it. I called the company and they told me this is normal for shipping and should come back. It didn't. We took pictures and still only
vague answers and we were told to wait. By now the replacement time period had elapsed. My daughter is excellent with plants and basically tried fertilizing, transplanting and following the company's instructions. After the 30 day refund time period lapsed and the bonsai had died I wrote an email asking what they could do and all they offered was points toward my next purchase. I feel so sad for this little 6 year old tree. Obviously I will not be dealing with this company again. Their instructions are very vague and not helpful. I would suggest dealing with a local nursery who can offer solutions rather than runaround explanations!"
"Tree looked good until I looked closer. Tree was infested with Aphids as another reviewer said. Customer service basically told me to deal with it when it never should have shipped out in that state to begin with, Now I have to quarantine it and treat it which seems ridiculous to me. When submitting a review to their site, they don't publish negative ones, conveniently giving themselves 5 stars on everything. Buyer beware."
"I spent extra thinking I would get a better tree. Tree was small, thin and most disappointingly infested with Aphids.
I threw it away so as not to infest the rest of my collection - should have known better than to buy on-line.
stay away!!!"
"Horrible plants and horrible service. I bought three lucky bamboos. All three came with nothing but yellow leaves; one with three tiny yellow leaves. I contacted EL immediately, and they told me to wait 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the bamboo looked only worse. Then, the "replacement" bamboo Eastern Leaf sent was shipped in a suffocatingly hot box. Again, I contacted Eastern Leaf, and sent them pics. After three days, this so-called replacement plant was completely yellow and dead. Eastern Leaf's reply was to say I already received one replacement, and that was it (even though the the first bamboo should have never been sent out to begin with, and the second one was yellow/dead within days of receipt). "
"Today is September 8, 2015. After we shipped this company their "disastrous order", it cost us 23$ to ship it a month ago, it came back as - REFUSED. This business seems to practice some "bullying" and "crooked" ways of handling customers. We took photos, kept all postal receipts and intend to submit those to our credit card company, as well as to Better Business Bureau. This is by far, the worst experience we had when dealing with online service so far.
I wish I read reviews online, before ordering from this place. It was a total nightmare. Ordered a Red Maple Tree and a Spruce Tress Gift Kit for a total of 108$, including shipping and handling. First of all, Red Maple Bonsai had leaf burn, was green (not red) and lost 90% of its leaves within first week. The spruce kit, came with Tiny (cheapest possible tree with a broken branch). Now, I did not order and pay for product that looked 100% on the site to be delivered looking at "D" at most, and to be told that now I must nurse it back to life. So, I immediately initiated credit card dispute, and would suggest to everybody who gets into similar situation with them - do not wait for 30 days, replacement, etc. They are crooks. We corresponded for a while and we heard everything from "not everybody has a green thumb", in fact I do; Red Maple changes color and leaf burn is normal, etc. When they offered us substitutions it was other types of trees that would be send in some plastic trays, etc. In the end, we were stuck with a) back and forth shipping and handling fees b) awful customer service that only makes sure their financial interests are guarded c) complete dissatisfaction d) money loss. So, to make a long story short - file a credit card dispute on day 1, at least you will get your money back."
"Stay away from this place. I ordered a trained Bonsai. When it arrived it was cracked in half with no damage to the box. I called and they sent another one but the one they sent was a complete insult. A twig is as best as I could describe it and not trained. What a ripoff. I now think they initially sent me a broken tree to begin with. It was for a birthday gift but I wouldn't be giving this cheap junk to anyone. Very disappointed. Stay away. "
