"In February of 2008, I purchased a refurbished Garmin i2 that was advertised to come "with 2008 maps" from Edge GPS. However, the unit I received came with 2006 maps, so I complained. They sent me an update DVD after several emails. When I needed the unit for our family vacation and tried to upload the update in June, it did not work.
Edge GPS first insisted that there was an unlock code in the box. Garmin clarified that they do not send these but an online procedure was required.
Then Edge GPS changed their story and said that the update would have worked if I had used it sooner. Garmin explained that it was not a matter of when but that this update never would have worked without Edge GPS providing me the credentials for the online procedure.
It was never found out why exactly the DVD that I had been sent from Edge GPS did not work but neither Garmin, nor Edge GPS seemed to be interested in this case.
Several times, I tried to have the authorized Garmin reseller Edge GPS talk directly to Garmin and clarify but they never made a serious effort.
So, I still own a useless 2008 update DVD due to the incorrect advertising, incompetence and lack of customer service at Edge GPS."
