Worst service

"I called them again to get a damaged item replaced. The store manager has been kept saying the replacement is on the way, but now it is clear that he has been lying all along. This is very dishonest company, and be aware this before you buy anything from them."

Honest merchant that wants to be helpful but returns were a pain

"My experience with Energy Avenue had high points and low points but ultimately they came through. I ordered some Emery Allen LED bulbs, American Lighting LED tape lights, and American Lighting LED drivers via their website. A couple hours after placing my order, I realized that I had messed up: I had ordered LED drivers that were not rated for driving Class 2 in-wall wiring. I phoned Energy Avenue immediately and asked if there was still time to change my order before it shipped. There was! The lady started to take down my request and then she asked someone else there for advice or something and then they took over the call and said that they would need a written request via their online contact form in order to make any change but that they would hold the order (not ship it) until I sent the written instructions. So I did that, and they processed the change the next day as instructed. They even preserved the coupon code that I used when placing the online order! So far, I was very happy with them.

The Emery Allen LEDs were shipped by them the next day and were great. The rest of the order was drop-shipped from American Lighting. When I received the American Lighting shipment, there was a problem. It turned out that the LED drivers I had ordered from American Lighting were really third-party retail LED drivers resold with mark-up. This was clearly NOT Energy Avenue's fault since the order was drop-shipped; rather, American Lighting is simply not forthcoming about those products being third-party retail products. I would have just kept them, but one of the two LED drivers was not actually compatible with my application (it was not instant-on). So I was going to have to return that one, and it turned out that American Lighting's mark-up on the other one was so big that even with a restocking fee and return shipping I would still save money by returning it too and re-purchasing the identical product elsewhere, so that's exactly what I did. The return experience to Energy Avenue was where they fell a little short.

I requested a return via their online form for returns and they promptly sent an email acknowledging my request. The actual RMA email arrived 2 days later and reiterated their return policies including their 25% restocking fee on unwanted items, which is steep but was something that I already knew going in and I was okay with it (I didn't try to get them to waive it since they technically didn't mess up). According to this email and also their website, the refund would be issued within 7-10 business days after receipt of the item. The problem was that that didn't happen.

I returned the item with FedEx tracking so I know when it was delivered (and this was to Energy Avenue, not American Lighting). 10 business days after that, nothing had happened yet (no credit on my card and no change in online order state). 4 additional business days after that, I got a voicemail from them asking me to call them back. I did so and the person that I spoke to said everything was approved and they had just been calling to confirm that I was aware that there would be a restocking fee (which I was). They said that the credit would be issued shortly and that my credit card would probably show it by the end of the next week. But two weeks later, still nothing had happened. I called and got a different person who said that the system showed that it should have been credited already but he would find out more and call me back. A couple hours later, they sent me the refund receipt by email and it showed the current date, so they hadn't actually processed the refund until I reminded them. In the end, it was over a month between the time that they received the return and issued the refund. So that was an annoyance, but I got my money and I don't think they had any ill intentions.

During this process, I also got a call from them at one point that was unrelated to the RMA: they wanted to know if I had any other projects coming up and they offered to help me find the right products (basically, trying to establish a relationship and create a repeat customer). So overall they seem to be an honest merchant and they want to helpful, but they aren't a well-oiled machine.

BTW, I believe this company is the same company as Nedco Supply because the address on my refund receipt is the same (4200 SPRING MTN ROAD).

EnergyAvenue.com was great, their supplier Orbit Industries not so much.

"I bought 5 low voltage pagoda lights from EnergyAvenue.com (L2030-BK-F-WW LED Pagoda Light, Black, 2 Watts, 12V, Warm White, Frosted Lens) to illuminate my front walk. They're made by Orbit Industries and were shipped directly from Orbit Industries. I received them in just a few days and they were in perfect shape. So I have absolutely no issues with EnergyAvenue.com.

My problem is with Orbit Industries. The pagoda lights are solidly made EXCEPT the 3 machine screws which hold each together are junk. Within several days of installation the screws were rusting at the head and threads. This is a concern since the lights are outdoors and require occasional maintenance for lamp replacement, cleaning, etc. I don't want to go out one day and find the screws are rusted in place or the heads stripped because of rust. IMO these screws should be stainless steel. If stainless screws were available elsewhere I'd replace them in a heartbeat, but that's not an option since the Orbit screws are unusual and not generally seen.

So I emailed Orbit to discuss my complaint and ask for their input. I didn't even get a reply! That suggests they care little for the end user and simply want to push product out the door.

Think twice before buying lighting by Orbit Industries.

"THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP WAS VERY HELPFUL AND PATIENT WITH ME WHEN I WAS TRYING TO FIND THE PERFECT FIXTURE FOR MY KITCHEN. THE PRICES WERE LOW AND SHIPPING TIME WAS SO FAST I GOT MY ORDER WITHIN 3 DAYS!!! GREAT PLACE TO SHOP!!! WILL BE COMING BACK TO ENERGYAVENUE.COM FOR ALL OF MY ELECTRICAL NEEDS. "

"Horrible Service. I ordered $45.00 worth of energy savinhs Light Bulbs, they charged my Credit Card. They opened a dialogue 1 1/2 days later and told me that they had no idea when they could complete my order as they didnt have the item in stock nor did they actually stock it. Said it was on a boat off the California Coast waiting a Strike to end so the cargo could offload and then they could ship me the bulbs. I asked Why they charged my Credit Card if they didnt have the product. And if they didnt stock the Product and were only a middle-man drop shipper, why that wasnt disclosed on their Website.
I asked them for Refund, that was on 3/2/15 and they haven't contacted me back, are ignoring me and it is now 3/6/15. BUYER BEWARE!
