"Cool place to find one of kind handmade items. I recently bought a gold dipped ring on Etsy. The seller shipped the item so fast that I received my ring sooner than expected.
I bought my boyfriend a beautiful handcrafted leather wallet from Etsy as well. They have some really talented artist on their site. I will definitely continue to shop on Etsy!"
"I am quite happy and satisfied with Etsy. I haven't bought much though....or rather I should say that I have till now bought hand made jewelery from one seller (myglitteringworld)
She is good and offers authentic stuff. Shipping too is on time, stuff is nicely packed and all jewelry comes in gift boxes (an extra bonus!!).
Her shop name is myglitteringworld and she also recommends few shops to buy other stuff like painting, paper decor, etc. Since shopping has been a good experience so i guess has some good sellers too."
"Too bad there isn't an option for ZERO stars, because that is what I give Etsy and their new "5 Star Rating" system. It is replacing classic feedback, in which a seller can rate a buyer based on their experience dealing with said buyer, as well as buyers leaving feedback for sellers. Now Sellers will have basically no recourse against vindictive buyers. And to make matters worse, buyers can change any reviews left for SIXTY days! These changes make me sick. If Etsy doesn't wake up they are going to lose a substantial amount of business, including mine."
"I've bought from Etsy on several occasions. You can find some interesting handmade or vintage items, but in my experience, even though about half the sellers are pleasant and reasonably professional, the other half are completely nuts. Late shipments (as in five or six weeks late), abusive emails and shoddy goods are commonplace - and Etsy really can't be bothered to sort out complaints.
Basically, you are dealing with high-strung wanna-be artistes, and you are on your own. "
"Watch this video and pass it on explains the terrible treatment sellers have been experiencing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53Hwl6Y9UWs
This is the same story I keep on hearing. Etsy has been suspending sellers accounts for years without any notice or explanation. Now this has to stop and the only way to hurt them is make the Attorney General in their state make them comply to have a real telephone customer service team. Bombard the internet and get the Attorney General in New York to make Etsy comply or be shut down. This company has no telephone service they have thousands of sellers who my law have the rights to speak to a real person about their livelihood. This company is even acting like a bank where they have their own payment processing and still no telephone customer team where you can ask a question about YOUR business. Something sounds very fishy all the stories from sellers Etsy has damaged without a moments thought the so called integrity team asking for the in's and out's of a sellers business and then still giving them the big heave ho when all the information has been given.
Attorney General and ask him why he is letting this Multi Million company in his jurisdiction get away with such bad business practices. Name and shame that is the only way these faceless corporations ever learn by denting their pockets. Etsy your time is coming and I will laugh my arse off when you cowards have to face your customers with no more hiding behind your computer screens.
File reports and ask others to do the same: http://www.ag.ny.gov/internet-bureau-online-complaint-form
I can describe building a business on Etsy like building a house on sand it will eventually collapse because it's build on a weak foundation.

"SHOp Owners be aware!!!! Etsy was A Horriable experience as a shop owner for me. I have my own website but decided to try etsy out to get more traffic!!! Biggest mistake I ever made! A customer complain and said item was not what they order and sent a discoloration of item. Etsy disregarded my return policy and refunded back the customer. It was bad bussiness. Shop owners be aware that your policy does not matter. "
"avoid this
place..... they re not your friends..... will turn on you like a rabid dog..... it would be great if all the true artists left them...... they treat each account different...some artists are favored more than others and they pick and choose THEIR favorites...... absolutely no loyalty here to the sellers OR the buyers......when you need help you CANT get it.....it takes days for them to get back to you with one of their run around copy and paste letters and you still get no answers or help...... ITS A BIG JOKE.....what a shame too...the idea was good but greed took over."
"Worst online marketplace ever! Not only are the items ridiculously overpriced but Etsy is run by complete morons. Customer service is non-existent. Sellers need to avoid this site at all costs. There are numerous horror stories out there about people having their shops suspended even after complying with Etsy's Intengrity Team's intrusive requests for sellers to disclose their trade secrets then having their items reproduced. Etsy also rips seller's off with listing fees as they don't refund them even if they suspend a seller's account. Tons of sellers are leaving this site because of Etsy's harassment and also their lapses in privacy such as disclosing sellers' full names on promotional e-mails instead of their shop name. It won't be long before Etsy is shut down for their shady business practices. Forcing out the people that keep Etsy up and running is a sure way of ensuring that this site will never be a successful marketplace."
"With Etsy you never know, sometimes you get the best quality and sometimes you get garbage, it really depends on each seller."
"I was searching for custom letterpress stationery for use at my company and a web search led me to an Etsy shop, from there I was able to choose from literally hundreds of Etsy shops to find a vendor with a great rating who would create exactly what I needed and we communicated via the in-site tool to negotiate a volume discount as I was purchasing several hundred cards. It was a great experience."
"purchased 2 iphone docs from Nathan Pennington at n8r76 on Etsy and got ripped off. The ad said that they could be used for an iPhone but the phones will not stand up in them! They fall over! I contacted Nathan Pennington at n8r76 numerous times and he either ignored my requests to return the docs or he gave me a rude and unacceptable response. His Customer Service skills ...lack!!!! I will never purchase from him or this site again."
"Unfortunatly my order never arrived and with a long delivery period coupled with a long dispute process, the 45 days protection on my Paypal account expired so I was left without the product or money and without any further help from Etsy. The dispute process is a way of protecting Etsy but not the consumer and you're left feeling abandoned."
"I'm sure there are wonderful honest sellers on ETSY. My seller was NOT! I never received my item, and exercised so much patience that too much time had passed for PAYPAL to help me. ETSY itself seems more geared toward seller protection, They were of no help to me at all. The seller was even allowed to cancel my transaction (after I had already received a supposed shipment confirmation). This resulted in me not being able to leave feedback as well!"
"Etsy is a great place to find original, hand-made items. I've bought many items ranging from jewelry to pottery to custom-made wooden mail organizers. There might be some junk on there, but I wouldn't compare it to Ebay at all. The items are all individually priced, not auctions. Many sellers will custom-make items for you if you contact them. Even though it isn't allowed, I've asked my favorite sellers to donate items to our school's auction and probably 50% did . Unique, creative and generous. That's the type of business I like to support."
"I heard about this store on twitter. One of my twitter friends was saying she sells hand made items and sells them on etsy. So I checked it out and ended up buying one of her items. That was a few years back though. However I still go to the site ever so often to see what else is there. The items seem to change every day. Which can be a bad thing but also a good thing. It does feel a bit like ebay but with more hand made items.
I have noticed lately that some of the new things showing up are not handmade or vintage. So I guess it is becoming more and more like ebay. Which is a bad thing. My twitter friend actually no longer sells on there due to the recent changes. Any way to get to my recent order. I ordered a hand made mailbox from etsy and it was actually hand made and even custom. I was sent progress pictures and every thing. The seller did a great job and I love my new mailbox. The order went great. "
