"My wife and I went on our first Europe trip at the end of April. We ended up using EuropeanDestinations because they were one of the few sites that you could almost make your own itinerary (we wanted to hit Belgium and a few surrounding countries). We didn't want a guided tour, just an independent trip but with the travel and hotel arrangements made beforehand. Most sites selling Dutch trips will just pair up Amsterdam with London or Amsterdam with Brussels. Well we were looking for less of a city/mass tourist vacation. We ended up doing with a itinerary where we hit 6 cities, changing every 2 days. It was fantastic if a bit tiring but we got to see Brussels, Bruges (Brugge), Ghent, Luxembourg, Trier in Germany, Stuttgart. They connect all the cities with train tickets.
Be careful - YOU MUST do your own research for each leg because they let you choose the hotel you want. Sometimes the hotel may not be ANYWHERE near the train station. Also, one of the hotels changed brands (was a Ramada, changed to a Rega) but was not updated on the site. You need to put in some extra research but you will be rewarded with a really good deal. We paid about $1720 per person with airfare+hotel+train and most stays had a breakfast buffet included. The hotels were all of the 3 or 4 star variety, no bad seeds. But we did our homework using TripAdvisor to make sure each hotel was good. We would definitely use this company again. They also operate a similar site called SolarTours.com but I think the travel engine is all the same. After you buy the package, they mail you all the train tickets and your itinerary. Make sure to bring EVERYTHING on your trip - the hotels need the voucher printouts at check-in."
