Purchased a Canon GL2 for$2799.99 $250.00 was for an extended warranty that was totally worthless because every place that honored the warranty did not service Canon tried to get in touch with them and they were nowhere to be found contacted the BBB and they were no help either thanks to the fine people at B&H Photo who gave me this website wish I new of this sight before we made this purchase. We bought our second Canon XHA1 from B&H and will make every purchase of cameras and equipment from them in the future.

"Classic bait and switch. I too placed an order for a Canon 40D. Received a phone call to "confirm" the order and was told this was plastic body from China. Magnesium body was $600 more. Also told the lenses were plastic, not glass...should upgrade. Also told the camera was "body only" did not come with a battery or charger...what the heck, thats all part of the body only kit!!! Original order was $1400, by the time I would have gotten anything worth owning and that would work the total was over $2500. I canceled the order and asked "Mike" for his last name in case the order showed up on my CC bill and he refused to give me his name and hung up on me. Avoid this place at all cost!!! "

"Classic bait and switch. But no hard sell up. I have been told that they don't actually even stock the "Chinese" model. Use this site to look at B&H Photo. I have done business with them and I am satisfied. Oh why is it human nature to want something for nothing? Should have realized there was a catch to such a below-average price."

"Bait and Switch ... I orderd on line a Canon 40D Kit 14, with 2) IS lenses. The next day I received an email requesting I call the processing department reguarding my order. After some conversation I was told the camera body was made in China (I figured this) and the lenses would not work in IS mode. I could spend another $800.00 to get a body that would work with the lense. I could not get an answer as to why they would put a package together that wouldn't deliever the functions I believed I was getting. I cancelled the order and have notified my credit card company. I certainly will not reccommend them to anyone. "

"I ordered a Nikon D80 camera package #9 with the 18-70mm and the 70-300mm lenses. Four days later I got an e-mail saying to call and ask for Eddie. When I did I learned that the camera was being shipped from China and would not arrive for several weeks. I could order the US version (magnesium, not plastic) which was on-hand. The cost would be $1285 instead. Reluctantly, but knowing the price including lenses was still better, I agreed.

Three days later I received the camera, but with the wrong lens package. The wrong lens was back-ordered and would ship shortly. Not only that, but four items advertised in Package #9 were missing from the box. Four other items were included.

When I called, I was told I could get the correct lens but it would include a 5-year warranty for the price of the 3-year warranty. After telling the rep that it sounded like a bait-and-switch, he relented and agreed to send the correct lens, but for an additional $50 (package 9 is $50 more than package 8). I was asked about batteries, but I declined, and no one pushed the battery issue.

I just received the back-ordered lens (the one that was to be cancelled). I just got a not from FedEx.com that another package was shipping out. I called VISA, and they confirmed the $50 charge on the correct date. I talked with the rep briefly and they are issuing me a new card. I'm not sure what to do concerning the lens I never asked for that is currently right next to me.

Update: I received my 18-70 lens on News Year eve. I asked the rep about the 28-105 I stll have. He said to ship it back. I asked him to send a shipping label which, after some discussion about responsibility, he agreed.

1/7 UPDATE: I have received 3 e-mails a day telling me my order is on the way. I have not received any shipping label. I sent an e-mail today inquiring.

3/25 UPDATE: I received my shipping label via e-mail after a veiled question regarding whether or not I could keep the lens since they did not seem to want it back. I sent the labeled package back and have never heard back from them. As far as I'm concerned, this issue is closed, although I will still never buy from them again.

"I placed order for Nikon D40X package with 18-55mm lens on-line in $489(price too good to be true). As I called in to confirme the order, the sales told me that no battery and charger include. And he also told me that's plastic lens. If we want the glass lens, I need to pay about $200 extra. According their website description, that's Nikon 15-55 auto Focus lens for the package. And then, I smell something bad, and then I canceled the order as well. After research on website, some experts said that no 'plastic' version of those lenses. "

"Don't buy from this store - you probably won't get what you ordered! After researching prices for a Panasonic camcorder, I was set to buy from cameraaddict.com. After I stumbled on this site, I thought better of it. Unfortunately, Expecam doesn't seem any better. The day after placing my order, I received an email stating that the company is trying to contact me regarding the order and to call a number and ask for Eddie. When I got a hold of Eddie, he told me that the camera was a Chinese version and not available. This was completely contradictory to the In Stock and Ready for Immediate Shipment that was posted on the website. When I questioned that, he said "I don't know" and hung up on me. My advice - pay a little more and go with an emerchant that has positive feedback!"
