"Treats its employees terribly. I once worked at a family video in Champaign Illinois and was sexually harassed by a few of the male employees. Gave my two weeks notice and was let go on the spot stating that past employees have stolen from them when they know they are quitting. Glad they closed and went out of business the owners deserve it. Met them too and they knew all about it and would do nothing.."
"I ordered a video for my son for Christmas, which was to be delivered around December 15. I called on December 20, and was told by Kelin that it was being shipped that day and would arrive either on December 24 or 27. When I spoke with my son on January 10, it had still not arrived. I left a message that evening, which was never returned.
I called back again today (January 11), and Kelin told me that it had been shipped yesterday. I was then offered a lousy $5 credit for my troubles. This, after not receiving any updates via email or call backs from my phone calls.

"I am waiting on a blu ray that was listed on thier site and I paid for nearly a month ago. They are using the excuse that they are back logged as to why they aren't shipping this blu ray. I have done business with a variety of vendors in the same amount of time and the dvds I have ordered all come in within a week of ordering. I have contacted them a number of times over the past 3 1/2 weeks concerning this and got no where with them. They used to be very good at shipping the orders I have placed with them in the past. I would advise of buying anything from them due to their lack luster customer service. I may pay more for the dvds else where but I know that they will be shipped in a timely matter without waiting months for them to be delivery."
"I went to rent a copy of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare today 10/25/19 for my Xbox One as the lady at the counter grabbed me a copy she said there will be an additional twenty dollar deposit being that it was a brand new game? Funny thing I just rented Ghost Recon Breakpoint from them when it came out and no mention of a deposit was made! I told her she can keep her damn game! Redbox had a copy and required no deposit! Screw you Family Video you lost a customer!"
"I have placed 14 online orders over the past two years for a total of 82 DVDs (74 used, 8 new). On two occasions there was one DVD among those I received that did not perform properly (to be expected when you order 74 *used* DVDs), and one time I accidentally ordered a duplicate DVD of one I had already ordered. In each case I promptly received either a replacement DVD or a credit to my card, no questions asked. They didn't even ask that I return the defective or duplicate DVDs!
I've found over my half-century of consumerism that the satisfaction I receive as a customer, and my desire to be a repeat one, has little to do with the number of errors a vendor makes and is far more effected by how they address those errors. In the case of Family Video, I could not possibly ask for more. They even handled MY error well :-)"
"I don't know what happened to all of the previous employees at the Big Bend location in St.Louis,MO but they need them back. I have been a customer since 1996 and have never been treated the way I was treated today. I have spent thousand upon thousands of dollars as a customer. I have always either paid on my late fees everytime I rent or paid them completely off. I have always purchased the half off rental on a monthly basis. I went to rent a couple of movies today and offered to pay a few dollars towards my $30 late fees. She asked me to pay 20 and they would exclude the rest. Which if I had the $20 I would've put it towards my late fees anyhow as I always do. I said I dont have $20 today. Then she asked for $10. I said I have $8 total. My complaint is this. The main reason Family Video is still in business is because they've always worked with their customers in a friendly manner with their late fees. The atmosphere inside the store has changed tremendously. You used to walk in the store and feel very welcomed. Like you were a part of their family. Which is to my understanding why family video has out lasted all movie rental companies. All of the other employees were outstanding when it came to a welcoming atmosphere. I cant almost bet that I'm not the only customer that feels this dragging change. I can almost also bet that I'm not the only other customer that has been unsatisfied since they let go of their outstanding past employees. If I continue to receive this type of customer service I will pay my account off and no longer get be a customer. I have always been a satisfied customer until recently. Their new employees need to be trained on the welcoming atmosphere they used to represent. After all it's called "FAMILY VIDEO" for a reason. Lately it feels like anything but family as soon as you enter their front door"
"I love going to Family Video but I do have a problem the manager is amazing but the only problem is the selection in the stores it's like they only have certain copies most of the movies are only on Blu-ray and a lot of the times right now as I'm speaking I'm watching Transformers the first movie and it's skipping like crazy they need to go into the store and replenish all the movies because there's a lot of bad skip old movies and there's nothing against the staff or the manager cuz she's amazing they do a great job it's just the actual material movies are horrible the selection **** so if you could do something about that that would be awesome thank you sincerely a big fan of family video"
"Family Video promotes istself as a family-owned and family-friendly business with a “small town” feel. Kids videos are free and they have activities such as face painting to attract kids to their stores. In light of this, I was shocked to see a pro graphically oriented “Adult” section added in our local store. Sad that a company that prides itself on promoting family values would choose to offer videos that degrade women and destroy families. I plan to boycot their stores until this practice changes and encourage others to do the same. "
"I used to buy Blurays on release day at Walmart for $25+. Never again! Thanks to familyvideo.com, if I wait 3 months, I can get it for $10 or less. I was able to buy 3 Blurays for the price of what I would have payed for just 1 of them at Walmart or Target. Yes, the used Blurays do not come with the DVD or digital code, but I never use them and find them redundant. You didn't get a VHS copy of a film when you bought it on DVD. Because it's the outdated format. The only movies you can't buy for $10 or less used are Disney movies, but I'm assuming that's for contractual reasons with Disney. I have used this site many times and will continue to for the forseeable future! I will never pay full price for a non-Disney Bluray again!!!!"
"I knew I was purchasing used DVD. I was purchasing Blue rays. When the item is supposed to come with a digital copy and regular DVD and the blue ray. You get only the blue ray disc. I was paying about 10 dollars for the used and I could have gone on line an purchased a new complete blue ray for about 13 dollars. I find them to be very over priced for what you are getting used and not the complete package if you purchased it new. They shipped to me about 5 times over a 3 week period and I had order 6 or 7 blue ray discs.
Slow shipping also and did not get what I thought I purchased. I do not think I would ever purchased a used disc from them again. I think you need to be beware of them and try to find out what the difference is before you order between a new blue ray and a used blue ray."
"I do a lot if ordering online. This was my worst experience by far. I was lied to about the availability of an item, was offered a cancellation and credit that never happened.
Finally in one email was now told I couldn't cancel because it shipped, finally given a tracking number....to the item that arrived at my house 5 hours prior. They were deceiving, lacked customer service and overall were very shady with the whole purchase. I will never purchase from them again....and neither should you!"
