A representative called me the next day to let me know that the unfinished was out of stock and would take a way longer time to ship to me so when I asked what alternatives I had he took his time and explained each option...I switched to a oak finish and I couldn't be happier!! "I purchased this mantel to install on my rock faced fireplace. I decided to go with the unfinished version and stain it myself for a sun bleached drift wood look. It was an easy install once I leveled, drilled, shimmed and used special 3 inch mortar screws, then I just hung it on. The finish needed no sanding and I just used an old sock to rub the stain on. "
