"On Dec. 13, 2003 I ordered a sports watch from www.fitnessbob.com as a Xmas gift assuming it would be shipped/delivered in time for Christmas. I'd never heard of the site, which is actually part of the Gately's Shopping Network, which hosts a number of sites hawking different kinds of wares. Their feedback on Yahoo was good so I figured I'd risk it. HUGE MISTAKE!!
On Dec. 14 I was charged the $100+ for the watch. On Dec. 16, I received an e-mail indicating that my purchase had "been selected for shipment and will be shipping in the next 48 hours". It included a URL for a site that would provide the shipment status. So far, so good.
On Dec. 20, after hearing nothing more from them, I checked their site and found my package was still "Ready for shipment".
So, I emailed customer support that same day. No response. I then called their toll free order number (the only one listed). No answer, so I left a message. Twice. I never heard back. In fact, when I next went to their site I noticed that THEY HAD REMOVED THE PHONE NUMBER ALTOGETHER from their site!! Unfortnately, I hadn't written it down.
So, after two more e-mails without a reponse (my package is still "Preparing to Ship" as of 1/6), I finally went to Yahoo! stores and filed a complaint. In fact, they have already escalated the complaint because the store never responded to their initial contact attempt!
This site (and probably all of the Gately's sites) are clearly frauds. They charged for merchandise they never shipped and cannot be contacted. Be warned -- do NOT do business with these companies.
