"I booked a minivan 2 months ago online with CarRentals.com and paid for the CDW insurance through Allianz Insurance for the 37 days of the rental period. I then went to the Fox Rent A Car Los Angeles counter this morning and experienced some of the below comments while waiting in line for an hour to be served. At least the shuttle wait was only 3 minutes!:) Anyways, the Fox rent a car Agent named Femi was helpful through the paper work process right up to the point when he pulled out the Car Insurance Sign and placed it on the counter top!!! Then he proceeded to tell me that my Allianz CDW Insurance I had already purchased for my rental was Invalid & Void as "you can't have it for Car Rentals for periods of longer then 30 days"??? I said I'd never heard that before and showed him a copy of my Allianz CDW Letter of Confirmation showing the 37 days of car rental insurance coverage that I had already purchased from them! He then said that it wasn't valid as it was for a period of more than 30 days and that I HAD TO either purchase the New California State Car Rental Insurance Requirement for $12.99/day or I could purchase LDW Insurance through Fox Rent A Car for $19.99/day!!! I told him No, I didn't want any additional insurance as I already had purchase CDW Insurance through Allianz that I was happy with!!! Agent Femi then said that I could not rent a car from Fox as it HAD TO HAVE either of the above insurances purchased from Fox Rent A Car as the New California State Law REQUIRED a Valid car insurance policy before a rental car could be driven off the lot!!! So, after telling Femi that I was writing all this down and also including his name and that I would be calling Allianz Insurance Company later on to investigate why they would be selling me or anybody Invalid or Void Rental Car Insurance - I felt like I had No Other Choice but to purchase the minimum New California State Car Rental Insurance Requirement for $12.99/day! This came to a whopping $467.64 extra charge on top of the original full amount of the rental car booking I had paid 2 months beforehand online!!! Femi wasn't happy as he said I should get the LDW Insurance from Fox for $19.99/day as it would cover everything - but I said No as I would investigate with Allianz and get to the bottom of this!!! Femi then finished the paperwork, gave me a copy and sent me on my merry way to find the rental minivan. I just called Allianz Insurance and spoke with a nice agent named Alan who informed me that the information that Agent Femi from Fox Rent A Car in Los Angeles had told me this morning was WRONG and a LIE!!! He said that Allianz would NEVER write a policy and issue it, if it was Invalid & Void!!! So, I just tried calling Fox's Customer Service number and after waiting on hold for over 10 minutes I gave up! I'm now sending them an email and will let you know what I find out???
