"I sent some beautiful frames to be restored April 2029. After two fairly reasonable emails confirming receipt of frames and discussion work to be done August Cornell stopped responding. I left phone messages and sent emails. I requested he send my frames back. He never responded. So this is theft pure and simple. It's not worth hiring a lawyer but he should be put out of business. "
"Sent vintage sunglasses. Received a few emails, then nothing. No response. Nothing but a scam. Steer clear."
"I to fell victim to this SCAM!! I spoke to August(He IS Robert but needs an alias because of his criminal background and dealings) and also felt that he sounded very genuine and honest on the phone. I sent my Vintage WW II aviator frames in for some work(new temples, brow bar repair and a weld). After a dozen calls and promises to send it out NOTHING was ever actually done. Promises to send that same day and provide "tracking information" Never happened. After 5 pr 6 of the false promises i decided to research this "company" and nearly chocked ! I had the EXCACT same experience as all the other reviews below. I had to call him daily and have heated conversations in order to get my glasses back. When they finally came they were HORRIBLE as the "welds" broke immediately, he also broke the brow bar and then covered it all up with brown gummy crap to hide the break. I was told "dental quality" bonding material that would blend in to the original. He covered the entire bar and it is bumpy uneven and looks like a 3rd grader did it with silly putty!(email me and I will send you pics). The temples are sloppy and lose and are not even close to the ones I was told I would get. He then made every excuse in the book, and just sent me back crap!! The only reason I got mine back at all is because I had contacted Syracuse police to report the scam and they sent me paperwork to file a claim in Syracuse court and was prepared to do so. I also contacted UPS Store to let them know this company was a sham but they can't do anything. He is an absolute CON MAN but like most has a very smooth approach all the while knows he will be screwing you. My guess is most people give up and has a free pair of glasses to sell online somewhere. PLEASE DO NOT do business with this guy. I should have done my research prior and avoided the entire mess. GO ELSEWHERE!"
"On April 16 2019 I sent to them my $450 prescription transition flexon glasses to August, the owner to prevent the lenses from popping out. He promised to have them back in a few days since I told him I worn them every day. After multiple phone calls and emails no glasses.I finally told him to just return them without repair if he was too busy. Finally on May 9 he sent me the bill for $85 which I was happy to pay by credit card since I assumed i assume it meant I would finally get my glasses.. Since payment all threats have been ignored and so far no return of the glasses. Last week he said there were several people with my same name but he would look into it and return them by expidited mail. I intend to report him to the New York attorney general since he should be shut down. I am amazed that so many others have gotten the same treatment as me."
"Mailed my vintage Raybans 6 months ago. Called one last time today, they gave more excuses (they are very creative with excuses).
I told them if I did not receive my glasses within one week or compensation for them within one week, I will report them to the proper authorities for mail and internet fraud.
Next week I will be doing just that, as I expect they have either already sold my glasses or destroyed them. "
"Sent in glasses in late January 2019. After numerous emails and excuses, they still haven't committed to send them back. Should be reported to BBB in New York or local police. Fortunately, I didn't give them my credit card info. so I'm only out my glasses, not glasses plus money."
"Mailed them some Ray Ban Wayfarers that I bought my fiance for Christmas, they had a broken hinge due to someone sitting on them. Spoke to the man on the phone, all good, long/short months go by, dodging my calls (but had my glasses and took my $), never got the item back. If you want your glasses stolen, I HIGHLY recommend these crooks. They're professionals at it! If you want them, FIXED, go elsewhere!"
"Found Framefixers on the internet and thought because they were local (in NY state) I would use them. Huge mistake. Sent in a 1940's pair of sunglasses (aviator glasses used during the war) and waited for a repair estimate. After a week I called. Excuse #1 was that the e-mail was wrong. Approved the repair cost over the phone and was promised the glasses within a week. After two weeks called again. Excuse #2 was that it was still on the "bench" being fixed. One week later (the fourth week since I sent my glasses in) I called again. Excuse #3 I am in the car and can not tell you status. I will call back tonight with and update. Three days after that I called again. Excuse #4 after I gave him my name I saw it on the bench yesterday, but it turns out that the item on the bench while having the same surname had a different first name. While I have no way of confirming this my surname is common and I doubt there are two of us using the same small shop in upstate New York to repair sun glasses. Promised a call back by 9 pm that night with an answer. No response and it is day 3 after the promise.
This guy is a thief, a lire and a con. DO NOT USE HIM EVER!!!!!!!!"
"SOMETHING VERY WRONG WITH THIS MAN! I SENT MY GLASSES FOR VERY SIMPLE FIX. AFTER MONTHS, I STARTED ASKING FOR PROGRESS REPORTS & GOT EVERY EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK, ALL FULLY DOCUMENTED IN MY EMAILS! I THINK HE'S STEALING PEOPLE'S GLASSES WITH THE SCAM, FIXING & AND RESELLING FOR PROFIT, ESPECIALLY OLDER, VINTAGE OR EXPENSIVE GLASSES! I SENT AT LEAST 7-8 REQUESTS FOR HIM TO RETURN THEM & DESPITE MULTIPLE PROMISES, HE STILL HASN'T! MY LAST 3 EMAILS HAVE GONE UNANSWERED! THIS IS AN INTERSTATE CRIME WITH THE SAME "MO" AND "AUGUST CORNELL" (THE NAME HE GAVE AS HIS NAME) IS BREAKING MULTIPLE STATE, INTERSTATE & FEDERAL LAWS! NEXT STEP IS THE SHERIFF, FBI (INTERSTATE CRIMES, INTERNET CRIMES), INTERSTATE COMMERCE COMMISSION AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES & I STRONGLY SUGGEST ALL OTHERS DO THE SAME GIVEN THAT HE'S BEEN DOING THIS TO EVERYONE! AND I CERTAINLY DON'T BELIEVE THE 1-2 "GLOWING" STATEMENTS THAT I'M VERY SURE WERE WRITTEN BY HIMSELF! "
"I had the same situation as many others on this site. I sent my glasses to FrameFixers and they were never returned. Only after several calls and several emails and finally stating that I thought the place was a fraud, did I get a response. They said oh they were shipped, and then oh they're still being fixed, and then oh they shipped. Despite many requests, they never offered a tracking number and someone expect me to believe UPS lost them . This story has been told way too many times. I urge you all to report this company for internet fraud.
www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
note that their invoice will say "Price includes free shipping with insurance and tracking to your home or office. All work is guaranteed for one full year from the date of this invoice. " This is an absolute lie"
"After several failed attempts to send the correct replacement temple parts for my vintage aviator frames, Mr. Cornell promised to mail me a refund. He claimed he could not reverse the credit to my card and tried to place blame on me saying I objected to him sending the required "nub" or "knuckle" part which makes no sense since I was desperate to get the correct parts. Lots of promises followed by excuses, and dragging out repairs. Buyer beware on this business."
"Warning. I sent an expensive pair of Oakleys 10 months ago. Every time I inquired about the status this man made some excuse, that they were about to start, and then had started, and now were waiting for the paint to dry. scam, scam, scam! I am mad as hell because told them to just send me my glasses back before a trip. assured me they would arrive. No glasses. Deadline passed. Don't be a sucker like me! I have read plenty of negative reviews all over the web on this company. "
"i left this review on another rating website but i saw alot of negative reviews here as weel so i just had to post it on here to say **MY TRUTH** about this company.
Let me start off by saying that i am NOT affiliated in any way to this company.
i am SHOKED by these negative reviews!, i really question how authentic they are.
how in the world did a sweet and kind of a man as him (the owner "robert") get such negative reviews is beyond me.
listen...i dont know if they are real or not but i got **THE MOST KINDEST AND PROFESSIONAL** service from framefixers.com!
i called the owner (robert) which was super kind and very friendly and talkative!
he expland to me how he can (easly) fix and smooth out the deep scratches i had on my vintage gianni versace frames that i love so much.
i shipped them all the way from israel to him.
the day he got them, i recived a friendly message telling me that they arrived and he also wrote to me how much would it be to fix them.
he also stated that they will be ready in about 3 business.
the next day i got an update telling me that they are being worked on and that they should be ready later that day and that he would ship them back to me that same day, and they were!
later that day i got an express tracking number from him via usps AND the returned package was even insured!
it took him 1 day to fix them and send them back...talk about super quick service!
when i got them (two days later) i was amazed how good they looked.
they looked 100% NEW.
he did such a Wonderful and fantastic job on my frame that i will go back to them for all my other frames.
you cannot find real eyewear craftsman like him anymore.
If you have vintage eyewear....send it only to him!
he can fix almost anything!
before we sent the frames to him we have contacted many (many) eyewear shops that couldn't help us (to say the least) and some were so ignorant it was embarrassing.
he was the only one that said that he can fix the frames and he did! and in a super fast timely manner.
listen guys, to be honest,
i normally do not write reviews and this is my first review i ever wrote here but these negative reviews made me want to say THE TRUTH about him and his company!
because the service i had recived and experienced from him was **exceptional**.
the most kindest service i could ever ask for!
he did an excellent job and he is as professional as it gets when it comes to cosmetic vintage frame repairs.
i will not let anyone handle my super rare and delicate vintage frames besides him!
Everything from service to shipping to time frame to price to outcome was simply fantastic.
please guys, before you make up a negative point of view in your mind about this company...
PLEASE check out the reviews that REAL people leave on this company's facebook page, (just write "framefixers" on facebook).
im sure that will make you change your mind and clear any doubts about them.
Thank you robert,
thank you for all your help.
god bless dear.
Sharona,
israel."
"These guys are WONDERFUL! They not only repaired 2 pair of my vintage eyeglasses (one pair TWICE!), they also repaired my beloved Reinhold Kuhn eyeglass case that my dog chewed up. I couldn't believe it! Granted, repairs sometimes take time because the parts have to be scouted up...they often aren't made anymore. But you get what you pay for and I definitely got more than my money's worth. I wouldn't use anyone else."
