"Freedompop is under a new management, and since I had gotten great service from the previous management, I resigned with the new owners. Thinking I had signed up for the $19.95 plan, and all was well. When I got my banking statement, Freedompop had added all kind of charges that had not posted on their site, and my bill was $50.00. In fact, I think I was put put on a free trial period during the ownership transition period. At best, I was still on the $7.99 basic plan, and the $19.95 never went into effect. When I questioned them about the phantom charges, they stated that the additional charges were standard and non-refundable. I disputed these phantom credit card charges, my bank resolved it, and the charges were returned to my account in full. I'm no longer a Freedompop client. Stay away, unless you like surprises in your bill."
"Ok, so I have to say that I discovered freedompop about 3 years ago when I switched from iPhone to Samsung, I still using my iphone but I didn't want to spend 40+ dollars for just the imessage part and few calls. I started to use Freedompop. Their plan is well priced and perfect for me, the free plan is enough for me to keep imessage alive and i don't call much. However, there are MANY hidden add-ons and EVERYONE need to be careful.
1. The promotions you see doesn't even show when they expire, or when you will get charged.
2. When you trying to cancel the plans, make sure you cancel everything that is add-on.
3. IF you don't cancel the $15 auto top-up, they WILL charge you before you reach your limit, NO NOTIFICATION.
4. IF YOU DID TRY TO CANCEL THE $15 TOP UP, then you will be forced to put 15 in before you cancel it. otherwise you can't cancel auto top-up. (which is bs)
5. They changed my plan , saying "the free 200 plan is not available anymore , so we switched you to LTE plan, and it's 5 dollars/month", however, I DONT HAVE A LTE CARD, THEN I SWITCHED BACK TO THE NORMAL FREE 200 plan, it was still available. So it's a scam. They didn't even email me, they sent email through their website email system.
6. The top-ups expired in 30 days, and it will not show up in your account, you have to actually re-activate it. (which they charged me few times, and I went to my billing, there was only 15 left. which I think I should have about 45 left.) There was no explanation about how the top-ups being used.
So, if you have enough free time to mess up with their system, then it is ok. Otherwise I won't use them for my primary phone at all.

"I ordered a SIM card for my only cellphone. A week later I received two. Anyway I put one in my phone and connected. I downgraded my service to the basic plan before the trail over. However, my credit card was charged $98.88 with no explanation. I contacted them (only e-mail) then got back few days later that stated the charge was for "second SIM"(ghost line?). I told them I never order/need second SIM, then they "closed" the second line and said refund will updated in 2 days. But, 4 days, 6 days, there was no response despite my repeated e-mails. After 10 days without their response, I asked my credit card to dispute it. The next day they returned my money. Then, today my account was sudden closed by them without any explanation. No mention with a unused $10 credit. You cannot reach their rep. by phone, e-mail since they closed the account. They just a phishing, scam, customer abusing company! People aware!!"
"Worst cellular company I've ever dealt with and I've used them all. Service would not function. I called in for help and was redirected to a "pay for support" automated system in order to talk to a live person. Considering that I havent even yet used the service, I refuse to pay to do so. I used their online ticket method. I called in 5 times in a row explaining to each that I would not pay for help for a product that hasn't functioned since day 1. Each time they directed my call to the automated system asking for money.
I used their online ticket service. The person Dalgin C. told me information already available to me. It solved nothing. I explained my situation. He told me to pay for live support if I wanted it. I told them all I wanted was to see if their service even worked. I've been on hold for 20+ minutes waiting for a manager.
I told them that if this isnt resolved, then I'm going to cancel but admitted that if customer support provided me a solution to the issue that i wouldnt. They ceased to respond to me.
This company is simply picking up scraps from the larger carriers that they lease from. They don't care if you stay or go.
I'm a big believer in quality products/services, or at the very least good customer service. This company has neither. Go elsewhere.
Here is a list of other companies that might not be as terrible. Whatever you do, don't start with freedompop.

"I just got my iPhone 7 from shop.freedompop.com and I am super happy, it's basically a new iPhone at the best price I could find online, I am glad I found this deal!"
"I have been a Freedompop customer for about 1 year now. I have 3 phones through Freedompop and I'm going to tell you some of my experience. I got Freedompop because they support iPhones where some other discount providers won't. The iPhone support I received was absolutely horrible. Turns out the iPhone software was basically a BETA release. I cannot begin to go into how jacked up their software is. It cost me work because it was so glitchy. Sometimes I'd get texts or missed call messages DAYS later. Some texts came in 7 days later. Their software would sometimes make the call or it would use the Apple software to call therefore I never had a complete phone call log. It would crash, and glitch all the time. Also the call quality was so horrible I had to sometimes reconnect a conversation 3x to finish.
I also bought 2 of my phones from one of their resellers so I'd have a clean transition. They shipped with a bad SIM card and it took months to get that corrected, but only after I had purchased my own replacement card off of Ebay to troubleshoot. Overall this was a nightmare!
The BYOD Bring Your Own Device plan did not work any smoother. As I did that with one iPhone. Just do yourself a favor and DON'T DO IT FOLKS!
Now about their Billing. There may be grounds for a class action, but I'm going to give you a brief overview of what you can expect. There are so many little add-ons and fees you will not be able to keep track of how they are charging you. Even you account plan overview or details page won't show you exactly what they are charging you. True! I just had to call their India call center and get help removing some reoccurring charges after I had finally removed all that I could online. They were hitting me for a couple of unused phones at $4.99/month for some global calling plan. This plan was Not listed anywhere under my account pages. They will nickel and dime you until you are paying what you would with a REAL phone company.
If you try to remove or cancel a phone you will spend lots and lots of time just trying to navigate their convoluted site. Seriously, if you want to drop a service you have to find the tiny tiny unmarked link to click on. It's like playing Where's waldo when you don't have time for games. These people are sneaky and deceptive and count on customers to NOT organize and fight back.
I give you this personal experience so that you can avoid premature hairless and stress.
As a side note about the quality of their service, my wife uses another off brand sprint provider. Her service was ALWAYS better than my service, and we both used the same Sprint network. She uses Republic Wireless (Android only) with no trouble. I moved to Sprint where the service is clean and reliable and the billing is not sneaky."
"I made an order on June 16th, 2016. When I tried to place the order it rejected one of my credit cards ,only to find out later that the charge went thru. Every time I try to explain this to them they play ignorant (it's apparent they don't even read the message or they don't understand English). I was also charged an extra $5 because I disabled the auto top off when I ordered. Despite having disabled auto top off, I was charged $27.87 on July 18, 2016. They still haven't replied to my last complaint about the dual charges so I have very little faith they will reply to my recent complaint about the additional $27.98 charge. To top it off, I never received the sim I ordered to start using this service. The tracking showed me the item was supposed to arrive about a week after I ordered it. When I followed the tracking it said the time was undelivered due to a bad address. I did recheck the address on their site and it is the same address I have been at for 18 years and there shouldn't be any issues unless they mislabeled the address. At time point I have to wait 24-48 hrs. for a response. but based on my previous experience I expect them to give some lame excuse and deny any fault to the problems I have had until this point. I really should have listened to the complaints/reviews I read before ordering.
Update: I was able to get their Slickdeals rep. to correct the charges and refund all of my money except the $3.99 charge on my other credit card."
"They have an unusual way of doing business. You have to do some digging at their website to get what you want it seems. Their prices seem reasonable if you want to pay for their service. I went with their free internet plan. I paid for the unit to get their service, but do not pay for internet! ( I have their low usage deal btw). I hav not had any problems dealing with this company; Just a somewhat unusual website to wonder how these folks operate..."
"Excellent concept of 22 century. But this company is lack of Custom Service representatives. You got refurbished stuffs which quality were not fully tested. Reply very slow, and handle custom issue takes too long time. But if you are good lucky, you might keep away from the custom service."
