"NOTE: There are UPDATES following this initial review.
This may be premature, HOWEVER in reading the comments on furnitureXO, I believe I've been had.
On Feb 9th, 2012 I sent them a check for two kitchen chairs. The check was cashed on Feb 13th.
To date the only communication I have received from them has been Email indicating (1) the receipt of my check, then once they cashed it, (2) placing my order into pending status.
I recognize it may be a bit early to think negatively, however they have NOT responded to inquiries on my order by Email - by telephone or on their web site. I have yet to speak with a "live" person.
My plan is to keep trying to communicate AND build my case for forwarding to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office should it come to that.
It is too early for me to rate furnitureXO as I only have this uneasy feeling to go with.
I will update these comments as warranted.
UPDATE of March 2nd:
I received a phone call and an Email from FurnitureXO indicating that my order is indeed being processed and expected to ship next week.
The person with whom I spoke was very forthcoming in telling me that his company is a small outfit that recently experienced a turnover at the top thereby causing the few who work there some extra duty. He said they are trying as best they can to remedy all complaints and concerns.
Based on the communications from them, I've upgraded my rating to 3 stars.
At this juncture, all I can do is wait and see if my order arrives as promised.
UPDATE of March 9th:
Received an Email stating that my order had been placed in "review status." Wondering what that meant, I responded with the question - what does that mean?
Received an Email response telling me my order was NOT in stock and has NOT been in stock. Hmmmmmmm. That information was rather contrary to what I was told by telephone. In that conversation I was assured my order was available and would be shipped on March 6th.
The new availability date is March 19th. Hmmmmmmmmm.
This is really getting to be old in a heartbeat.
I do wonder though, IF a scam, why the responses from them? IF they've taken the money and ran with it, why the effort to maintain the image of being reputable? Surely someone at that organization must be reading these comments.
I'll wait it out - what choice is there? If my order winds up being delayed beyond what I feel is reasonable, I too will follow-up as stated in my initial review.
As for the rating, at this point I'll leave it as is for when I order from internet sources not used before, I expect delays. Not runarounds, but delays.
FINAL UPDATE of March 14th:
As I type this there is a check from FurnitureXO on my desk for the exact amount of my purchase.
How did this happen?
In my update of March 9th I explained about getting a contradictory notice of my order not being in stock. This prompted me to rethink my position. I did and fired off an Email to them NOT requesting a refund, but chiding them on the way they handled things to that point. I referred them to the comments on this forum. This resulted in a response from them wherein THEY cancelled my order. Yes, they did so because I apparently upset someone. Hmmmmm.
Nevertheless, CASE CLOSED as far as I am concerned.
I wish the rest of you the best in getting the satisfaction deserved when putting your good money and good faith forward.
Needless to say, I'll not consider these people for future orders. HOWEVER and this is a big HOWEVER, they did provide me with a full refund - even if not requested! That's a new one on me, but I'm satisified that the uncertainty phase is over.
This was never about promptness, it was about confidence in dealing with an unknown organization in the Ether. I didn't have any after reading the comments on this forum.
Post Script: I ordered my chairs from a competitor and they are to be delivered early next week. It's an outfit I've dealt with in the past. So, I'm confident there will be no issues. Paid a bit more, but it is worth it for the peace of mind.
Adieu!"
"We ordered a sectional and thought we would get it within the 2 to 4 weeks delivery time. After 5 weeks and 4 days and reading all the reviews we decided to cancel the order. Why doesn't furniturexo promote a 2 to 4 month delivery period. Also after the order was confirmed you never hear from them and when you call you get a full mailbox. We prepaid with a check and are just hoping to get the refund within 2 weeks as promised. I get the feeling they work with you money until you cancel the order. I agree STAY AWAY from them."
"I ordered from this company 2 month ago. All items were received in about 2-3 weeks without any problems. Maybe I am lucky, but everythiing was very smooth.
I like how they run the business."
"I will never deal with this Company again! It's been several months and my situation is still NOT SETTLED. I ordered a set of table lamps and when they arrived, I simply didn't like them. It took 3 weeks before I received any response from them and then it was only an email. When you call, you have to leave a msg and no one returns your call. I shipped the lamps back and had to pay for the original shipping which cost me $57. I finally received a refund check for #103.99 several days ago and deposited it only to be notified by my bank 3 days later, it bounced!!! Now, I am starting the process all over again....trying to get ahold of someone by phone to explain to me WHERE IS MY REFUND??? Honestly, don't even purchase anything from these people. It's a slip-shod-ran business at best. If they can't afford to pay my refund of $103.99....these ppl have no money and what on earth are they doing with the money when ppl purchase an item from them.
UPDATE: On 3/5/2012 Steve called me and interesting enough, can't find my account!!!! He said the Google Check-Out number isn't matching what they have. WTH! This is the very number I've given each and everytime I've had to get in contact with them. Beginning with...where is my order and why hasn't it shipped. 3 weeks after placing my order for the table lamps, they arrived. We didn't like them, so requested a "return shipping label" this took another 2-3 weeks to get via email. We finally returned the lamps after paying the $57 return shipping fee....and after 3 months, still waiting on our $106.99 refund. (after the first refund check bounced last week) This has been a total nightmare. The most important thing I've learned through this....before "ever" purchasing an item from a company via online, check out the reviews on them. If more negative than positive...don't order it."
"THIS IS MY REVIEW OF FURNITURE XO. ITS AN EMAIL I SENT TO ONE OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS! 2/10/12
Hi Arthur. The shipping dept did call me and will be delivering tomorrow between 4 -8. Thank you for all you've done during your short time there. I appreciate your hard work and most importantly, HONESTY during this process of me getting my furniture. I was nervous and convinced I'd made a mistake by sending you guys my check for a bedroom set after seeing all the negative reviews. I realize now, what you said is true. Your turn around time depends on when you get the furniture from the manufacterer. You are not just sitting there with peoples orders and not sending them out. I realize you guys are not "crooks" but are hard working and very knowledgable in the field. You answered my calls everytime I called (which was every week after a month had gone by). You guys were very courteous and respectful. And I believe I treated you guys the same way. You helped me to the best of your ability and gave me as much info as you could pertaining to my order, always. You weren't irritated by all my questions, which is important in customer service. I would tell anyone, if you can wait a minute for your purchase, save a huge chunk of money and go with furniture xo. If you MUST have your furniture on a particular day and time, spend the extra money and go with your local store. That's my honest opinion of furniture xo! God Bless!
"
"Don't send your payments - they're Liars!!! Please consider so many one star here before proceeding to you purchase. They didn't deliver to me in 3 months and refused to give me refund!!! I have to ask: am I in US - a country with laws? Will report to BBB. We should do a group law suit against them.
I highly suspect the "David_Dante_Dani..." guy is employed by the store. Please be honest, if you still have a bit of integrity left in you."
"My living room set came today after waiting about 5 weeks. It was damaged & now we trying to get this problem resolved. You have a hard time getting any help or someone on the phone. We took pics & video of it. Sent it to the person I was told to send it to. Guess what he is not in the office today!!! Would love to talk to the owner of this company!!!! Derrell J Williams"
"Don't believe everything you read.
After reading all of the reviews, I was terrified what would happen to my order which was paid by check. Last night I received my dining room set after waiting about a week (from order day). Having previously purchased furniture both in-store and online, I knew there would be a wait of a couple of weeks but was pleasantly surprised furniturexo made it happen within 1 week.
This morning I got up earlier to cook breakfast, kids, husband and our 2 dogs (begging on the side)enjoyed each others company while sitting in our new Ashley dining room.
As the saying goes; Don't believe everything you read!
I received the best deal (using furniturexo.com price match guarantee) and as a bonus got free white glove. 29028"
"Beginning to get worried. Credit card has been charged but almost 4 weeks later my order is still processing. "Ships in one to four weeks" it says. Called customer service but goes to a full mailbox so you can't leave a message. Went to "live Chat" but I haven't been able to live chat yet, left message with live chat and no response in a week. If my order ships in 2 days I'll change my star rating but as of now I am really concerned if I ordered from the right place.
UPDATE: I did get my furniture after almost 6 weeks. But still never a response from anyone. I was notified that it was ready to ship via email but you have to leave a voicemail to let them know you are ready to receive it. R&L carriers delivered and their customer service was superb, live phone calls to confirm date and when they were on the way. Package was wrapped nicely delivered on a pallet with no damage. If XO will fix their customer service they would be better but I won't be back."
"This is the very worst company I have ever delt with. I ordered a lamp on Nov 29 which Furniture XO acknowledged on Dec 5. At that time, they charged my credit card with the amount of the lamp. According to their web site, the lamp was in stock. On Dec 16, I left a voice mail asking about the status of my order. On that date, I also sent Customer Service an email asking the status of my order (I placed a read receipt on this as well). As of today, Jan 3 2012, that email has not been read. On Dec 29, I called again and managed to get ahold of somebody who said that the item was shipped as my credit card was charged and they don't charge until the item ships. He then said something looked funny and would call me back with where the order stood. Two days later, I called him back and he said that the lamp was on back order and a mistake was made in charging my credit card. The lamp should ship in 1-2 weeks. I asked that the charge be credited until the item shipped and he agreed. As of today, that credit did not take place. Today I called my credit card company and placed a dispute on the charge. I have never seen such bad customer service and quite frankly, I feel scammed. Furniture XO can clear this up by crediting my credit card with the charge until the lamp actually ships. They also can use to drastically improve their customer service which is non-existant as far as I am concerned."
"Has been 5 months since placed order. Have filed complaint AG office in Penn. XO replied to the complaint. But have continued to ignor follow up e-mails and phone calls. Last communication from XO they are not overly concerned about the AG office. THe best we can do is flood the AG's office and write to the companies that build the furniture and make the aware the could be named in a lawsuit with XO. I beleive they are running a Ponzi game."
"Well were do I started I order my furniture on the 6th of Dec. and I been trying to get some information on my order since then. Now that I want to canceled my order now they want to give me information about it. Now telling me I got pay for a the restocking fee and shipping and handling for the manufacturer. When they also told me that the furniture wont be in their warehouse until the 6th of Jan. They took my money and now I trying to get it back and they was supposed to email me with the cancellation number by the end of the day now they tell me I got to wait and another day to get this number. I will not tell anyone about these ppl and I wish I can back ball them. I will make a point to my JAG office about furniturexo to make such no other soldier get handle by them "
"Wow, where do I start? I was told that the driver would be happy to help me get my bedroom furniture up the stairs and into my apartment but apparently they failed to clear that with the driver as he refused and left the order in the parking lot. That's not the real fiasco here though. The dresser came with a damaged drawer front, which I reported immediately. That was on July 5th of 2011 and countless phone calls and emails later, it is now December 1st and they have still not corrected the problem. Granted XO has significantly better prices (I saved almost $300 on a $1500 set) than anyplace else I could find but that's apparently because they don't have to pay costs associated with providing customer service. Save yourself the trouble and spend a few extra bucks elsewhere so that you can have some confidence that if there IS a problem, someone will address it. This issue has cost me more in time and peace of mind than $300 in savings could ever be worth.
I noticed the one review that XO responded to and it would not surprise me at all if they either are lying through their teeth or simply don't understand the reviewer's description of events. Good riddance XO and I hope that someone eventually sues the pants off you for taking people's money and not giving them what they paid for."
"Ordered my bed beginning of Sept. it's Nov 15 & they still haven't set up a delivery date. Every time I call they say it's on their incoming truck & once it's in they will inspect it & call me to schedule delivery. 2weeks will go by & then I will call them again & they give me the same story. They cashed my check right away also. If I could rate this company a negative amount of stars I would. I'm beyond furious with them & will probably be reporting them to BBB. "
"I ordered 2 bedroom sets on Sept 1, 2011 and paid by check for 10% off. I finally rec'd the sets on 11/12/11. I had to send numerous emails, countless phone calls because there were times they didn't know when it would arrive. All is well, furniture is in perfect condition, delivery was on time within scheduled time, and assembly was done with great care. Good service but takes forever to get your stuff."
