"Reina’s website is a little wonky but the bottom line is the product she sells good stuff so it’s worth it "
"Stay away from this place. Very unprofessional. Charged are credit card on discontinued stuff. "
"This woman, Reina has been extremely rude! She seems to be the only employee at this business and sends the items from her house. I received an email with an order number saying my order for 2 foam strips was "complete". I had not received this order, no tracking number, nothing. I tried to check the status of my order, but there's no where to do so! To even find the spot to "login" I had to use the site map!!! The order number was underlined on the "completed" invoice email, but not hyperlinked, so I continued to struggle. When I tried to "login" my email was rejected, as though I never created an order! After a few days of struggling to find a way to maneuver this website, I finally decided to attempt to reply to the "completed invoice" email. Because I was so frustrated, especially after my toddler slid off the futon (hence the order for the non slip strips) I emailed "where is my order????" To which I heard nothing back until after 9pm when she called repeatedly! Since I was trying to get my toddler to sleep, my husband answered. Rains was exceptionally rude to my husband stating that she was canceling my order (I thought it was complete?!) Because I was rude and used 3 questions marks. When I finally came to my phone, I thought my husband was joking! He said he thought it was a prank call! So I called this number back ***-***-****) she answered "this is rina" she didnty even identify the business I was calling! I asked her if this was the woman who called and was rude to my husband and said she was canceling my completed order. She said yes because I was "very rude using 3 question marks during a pandemic." And how did I not know someone in her house was sick "with the COVID"? She said completed means she "printed the invoice!" I explained that's not what completed means and she wouldn't let me speak. She continuously to speak over me, insulted my education level, my husband (she called him "stupid", and swore at me! I asked her if she really just cussed at me, to which she replied she would never cuss at people and that she had an MBA and she was smarter than me. She kept insisting that I was rude "during a pandemic with 3 question marks" (it was actually 4 question marks) and that "how dumb can you be to not know what 3-5 business days are?" And "do you know how to count Melissa?" I was completely appalled at her behavior. When I told her I was going to report her to the BBB, she said (I kid you not) "go ahead, I'm not scared of them, I will tell them how you spoke to me and show them you email with the 3 question marks and they will agree with me and then I will blast your name all over the internet because no one should ever work with you again" (I couldn't make this up if I tried!) I am completely shocked and appalled at this woman's behavior! How has she stayed in business so long??? This has to be a scam, right? How dare she use a global crisis to accost me, insult my husband and me, and treat a PAID CUSTOMER like dumpster scum just because she has no clue how to run a business! I sincerely hope nobody else gets treated this way. "
"So I didn't buy a futon from Rima - she actually purchased a vehicle from me. I wish all of my customers were so nice and communicated so well. She was truly a pleasure to do business with. Since a business reflects ownership, I'm sure she take good care of her customers. Thanks Rima! "
"Saw several bad reviews and felt I had to say something. I had a wonderful experience ordering. Rima answered all my questions and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Two and a half years later, and I still love my purchase. As for people who are complaining that you can't return the mattress after you open it, well, that's because they would be paying to ship it back just to throw it in the garbage. They are not allowed to legally resell it and their margins are already pretty thin. Throwing away mattresses because people didn't make informed decisions when purchasing would put them out of business. I just can't believe all the ridiculous reasons people rated this place poorly. These bad reviews showed up in google when I typed in futon planet so I could order a new cover because I wanted to change things up a little. Ridiculous. If you're going to spend money on something, ask a ton of questions and read all the terms. They can't be as affordable as they are and stay in business with a Walmart return policy."
"Terrible customer service from Rima: She seemed to take extra care in making sure I was getting the right fit since the futon cover was non-refundable. Great right? Then they sent me a $245 cover, insured but no signature required which I never received. Fed-ex said they delivered it and I opened a claim with fed-ex but it never showed up. I contacted Rima and she told me too bad it was not her problem. She had insured it with fed-ex so it was up to her to file a claim with them to get my money back but she could not be bothered. Really poor customer service like I have never experienced before."
"I've been using my futon for about a week now and I just have to say that the quality and comfort far exceeded my expectations. The sales staff was knowledgable and very helpful. I took their advice and upgraded my mattress which I think made all the difference."
"I looked at the web for a tri fold futon in twin size, and found the hide-a-mat from Futon Planet. Comapared to others it looked solid and well done. I ordered it by phone for $135. At no point of the order the sales person pointed out to me that a mattress is not refundable. It was shipped promptley and arrived in good conditions.
The mattress was so hard, I had one of the worst nights of my life. I called the company to ask for their return policy. The representative was pretty rude and blamed me for not having read the terms and conditions. This product is one of their best selling products, whats wrong with me that I would consider returning it?
Finally she recommended to go to Walmart or Target and by an egg crate foam mattress pad for $12 or so - by now they cost $30 and more. That brings the price up, and I have to deal with two mats to stow away. Later on I found, that the same product is sold by other companies for $20 less.
Yes, one part is my negligence not having checked out more carefully their conditions, nor have I taken time to read the reviews. The majority warn of this company and the way how they advertise their products.
Do NOT buy from this company.
"
"In August 2008, I paid $180 for a futon from Futon Planet for occasional use in my RV. I used the futon for two days in 2008 and just over two weeks in 2009. After only one week of use in 2008, I noticed that the futon had developed a permanent depression where I was sleeping, with no resiliance left. I have used futons before and never had seen them deteriorate in this way. I called customer service at Futon Planet and spoke to a customer service representative, her supervisor, and, ultimately, to the owner of Futon Planet. I got the same story from each person -- that I had bought the low-end futon, designed for "occasional use," and should have expected it to deteriorate in this way. Although the futon was less than a year old and still technically under warranty, I was told it could not be returned, and there would be not refund of any kind. The bottom line is that I got approximately 7 days of acceptable sleep out of the futon, which comes to over $20 per night. Futon Planet should not market a futon of this low quality, even as a low-end product, and I do not recommend doing business with the company."
"I do not think this is a terrible company, but I think there is some corner cutting and omission of details that make their sales a bit unfair.
They do have an excellent range of frames (many of which seem very good).
However, they need major improvement in describing and picturing their mattresses. True, they give a rundown of the materials used (which are displayed in slightly misleading pictures of material layers) but they do not display any pictures of the actual futon mattresses available to buy (plus many are out of stock, so choices are limited in that category). For example, I ended up with a mattress that has tufting (when they stitch the top cover to the bottom, resulting in indentations and a non-removable cover). It would have been nice to know that ahead of time--if so I probably would have gone with a different mattress. And considering their futon mattresses are non-returnable, they should really give better information.
Bottom lines:
*If you want to shop here, ask for details on EVERYTHING. I found the customer service department responsive (I received an email reply in just a couple hours), but I now know I should have asked more questions before buying.
*Read all the terms and conditions, and again, ask questions if you are unclear on anything. That's right, the mattresses are NOT returnable.
*Whoever said Gripper Strips are low quality is 100% right...these things are basically just gaudy, cumbersome foam strips with sticky backing. Don't spend your $30 on them (if you really want them, I'll bet you could make em for way less than that). They sound practical, but they seem like a ripoff to me.
So, would I buy anything from them again?
Maybe. But I would call them and ask every conceivable question about the product I want to buy first."
"Re: Futon Planet
Warning Do Not Buy From This Company. They should be shut down! I believe the are running a scam! You be the judge
My story: I bought a mattress and frame for my college daughter. The frame took two weeks to deliver 5/26/09 but was received a couple of days later when a home owner called to say a package for my daughter was delivered to her house by mistake. They sent the frame to the wrong address! That was my first clue this company is a joke. Then the mattress was delivered one week later. When my daughter (who is 21) set up the frame with her boy friend she was disappointed in the shabby appearance and uncomfortable frame/ mattress. She called Futon Planet and spoke to Jennifer (customer service) who told her once she takes the mattress out of the packaging it is not returnable. My daughter tried to explain that she needed to assemble the futon to determine if it would work. Jennifer replied by saying “if you look at the terms and conditions” it is stated you can not return the mattress if you take it out of the original packaging and if you are not happy with the futon frame you can return it for a stocking fee provide it is in the original box.” My daughter contacted me in frustration saying she just received all the components to assemble and I contacted them immediately once I saw the assembly and knew I would not be happy and they will not work with me at all.
I have bought on line before and I have never heard of a company not allowing you to assemble the product, then to determine the quality was not as described and not allowing you to return. This was not a bathing suit or a prom dress with out the tags. This was a bed not used. I contacted Jennifer thinking my daughter misunderstood the explanation of the customer service professional. Nope my daughter was reporting her experience correctly. Jennifer told me the same script and actually she had it down pretty good, she actually was bored with my call. I determined this when she decided to eat her dinner on the phone line and not respond to my questions. When I told her I would contact the BBB she hung up on me (that’s professional).
I did contact the BBB in Fl hoping they would be able to see the scam. But this just added more time for the buy date (May 16 and the respond date of June 23, 2009) to expire my window of the 30 day return policy for the frame, the mattress never had a chance because my daughter took it out of the package.
Actually after writing this review I think I went to the wrong governing agency I should and will directed my complaint to the District Attorney. TAKE MY WARNING BUY YOUR FUTONS FROM RETAIL STORE NOT A BROKER WHO HAS NO INTEREST IN CONSUMER RESPONSIBILITY.

"GripperStrips:
very poor quality merchandise and the worst company policies EVER. I can't believe they are allowed to sell these things

"Found the customer service to be very responsive. I have bought many futons over the years from many companies and found this company to committed to providing good service. While I had a small hiccup with my order, it was not their fault, but they tried in earnest to fix it and did."
"Futon Planet is great. They have a huge selection and have the best prices. I guess they have a couple of locations in Orlando, FL, but I had my order shipped to Minnesota. I ordered a Full size Futon mattress and cover on a Monday. The product was on my door step by Saturday - 5 days later! Shipping was only $8 - for a big heavy mattress. Wow! They also have a 1-800 you can call if you have any questions or problems. I will go to Futon Planet for all my future Futon needs."
