"Stay away from gameasylum.com no matter what the deal you think you are getting. Period. The company is incompetent at best, but is more likely fraudulent and knowingly predatory of unwary bargain hunters. I can draw a couple of conclusions here. Either I am the victim of an unscrupulous company who fails to provide any customer support once a sale has been made, or somehow I have fallen through the cracks and this is simply an oversight.
I purchased 2 Nintendo Wii Metal Dance Pads Mats + Wii DDR Hottest Party Game for approximately $347.99 on Nov 18, 2007 to be given as a Christmas present. The game arrived in about 1.5 weeks, and the pads were shipped separately arriving in an additional 1.5 weeks. At the time no servicing phone number existed to determine tracking information on the shipment of the pads. The ****@**** email address proved to have a slow turnaround and provided only incomplete information. This should have been my first sign of the customer service nightmare soon to follow.
The dance pads were not opened until after Christmas. Both of them worked fine for the first couple of weeks, and we had a lot of fun with them. Soon however, neither mat functioned properly. On both mats, all four lights stay activated and the sensors think all four arrows are constantly being pressed, even when noone is standing on the mat. As such, they are inoperable for gameplay. I asked Gameasylum what causes this, and if there is a simple solution that they already knew of. The reason we went with the metal mats was to have increased durability as a long-lasting investment. I also asked about the warranty and replacement policy on these mats. Rather than being given a straight answer, I was directed to the terms and conditions page on their website.
I also wanted to call the manufacturer directly but was unable to get this information from Gameasylum.com. By February, I still had not been able to talk with any at the company, and the communications received via email did not address the issue---that I am stuck with a pair of mats valued at $300 that only worked for a few short weeks.
Apparently the company was moving warehouses and establishing a phone number (not toll free by the way). I thought things would get better, but it only got worse. Most the time when sending email, it will be returned to sender with a message saying the company's inbox is full. When calling the service number it will cycle through a message over and over again without ever being connected to an agent.
On February 28, 2008 I finally connected to a service technician who indicated the controllers were likely faulty (I was sent PS2 pads with controllers to converter it to the wii box). He indicated these were on back order but that they were ordered and would ship soon. I received email confirmation of the same.
Two and a half months later, dozens of phone calls without ever connecting to anyone, and a slew of unanswered emails later, I still have not had any resolution. I have heard nothing from the company and have not received anything.
It is now May 14, 2008 and I still have not been able to reach anyone. This has been very time intensive, frustrating, and disappointing. Not to mention the significant $$ that is becoming less likely to ever recover. And what am I supposed to do with my two mats that don't work at all?"
"Never order from this fraudulent company.
(2008/01/04)I ordered 2 DDR thick pads and DDR Hottest Party for the Wii. Their site said the game was in stock. (2008/01/14)I received the dance pads the game wasn't with the order. Contacted company and was told the game wasn't in stock.
(2008/01/29) Received the game and set up the pads to find that one of the pads was a non-thick PS2 pad. The other pad isn't the pad I ordered. I contacted company about making a return.
(2008/02/09)After many unanswered emails the company offers a prepaid return shipping slip but makes no effort to make this available. I'd already decided to ship the items myself (-$18)
(2008/02/22) After many unanswered emails the company tells me the replacement items will ship on 02/26. Company offers other items I wanted for compensation but the items I want aren’t in stock so they give me a %15 off coupon to order separately. Order the items and numerous times through the transaction request that the company comp the second order as compensation with no response.
(2008/03/10) Contact company about status of the return. Am told the return will ship on 03/11.
(2008/03/15) Receive the replacement pads. Again the pads aren’t the pads I ordered even after previously making many attempt to make sure the company knew what pads I was expecting by sending pictures from the webpage I ordered from. Inform the company I plan to dispute the charges and am threatened with legal action for "intent to defraud" their company.
(2008/03/18) Send many unanswered emails to attempt to clear up this issue. Request that the second order be canceled but no response to that either. Company tries calling so I wouldn't have a written transcript of the conversation. Leave a voice mail saying the pads I received were an upgrade and were specifically designed for the Wii instead of the GameCube (which is a lie. The pads have an X and Y button, which the Wii doesn't, and looked on eBay to find the pads are worth 1/4 what I paid). Fiancé calls and is told that I will be sent a pre paid shipping slip and getting a refund.
(2008/03/19) Inquire about my refund and get threatened again with legal action for harassment. Return the email informing the company that communication regarding a return of items I never ordered and a refund for items I never received couldn’t be considered harassment and that legal action wasn’t necessary as the company was at fault for fraud and false advertising as it was. Give them my work fax number so they can send me the prepaid shipping slip to return the merchandise I didn’t order.
(2008/03/20) Receive an email informing me they will fax the shipping slip but I have to track the order and tell them when they receive the item (seems a little counter productive if you ask me).I still haven’t gotten a response on canceling the second order.
After nearly 3 months I'm out $18 and still don’t know if I’ll get my money back for the items I never received.
Word of advice: steer clear of this company. "
"I wish I had seen the reviews on this site before making my purchase from GameAsylum. They are a fraud. I never recieved the game I ordered, I only got promises that it was on back order. They took my money, but now they can't seem to refund it due to a 'move'.
Do not buy anything from this company."
"I purchased some PS3 items on 26/01/08 from Gameasylum and recieved an e-mail on the 27/01/08 confirming items had been shipped.
I then recieve another e-mail from them stating that the items had in fact not been shipped due to them moving premises and that they would be shipped very soon(09/02/08) What the?
After a few days I e-mailed their customer service to have an e-mail returned informing me this address does not exist. (****@****)
So I contacted their sales e-mail (sales at gameasylum.com) which surprise, worked and informed me they would look into it(12/02/08)
No answer, so it took me flooding their e-mail with around 30 messages to get a response on the 15th of Feb 2008.
It is now the 18th of Feb and they still cannot tell me if my order has been shipped.
I would recommend anyone thinking of purchasing items from gameasylum to think again. I shelled out near 200 bucks and don't yet know if I'm going to get either my items or refund."
"I have never written a review before, but felt the need to do so now. For whatever reason the order was't able to be delivered to the address we gave. It was sent back to the warehouse. Ihave e-mailed them 5 times to see if I can pay the extra shipping to have the 60 dollar item resent. You can't talk to anyone by phone (they still do not have one!) Some man named Cameron keeps sending me short replies directing me to the tems and conditions page. however my situation isn't on there. I just would like my order. I did forward the site to them by e-mail.
thanks
Terry"
"Never, never place an order with this company. I placed an order with gameasylum on November 18, 2007 and this has turned out to be the most unpleasant experience that I have ever had with an on-line retailer. For weeks their homepage said that it would ship in 2-3 days. On November 28th they told me that I "should receive your item in 7 to 10 business days". After several email exchanges over almost 3 weeks (they don't list a phone number), I finally canceled the order on December 6th because their homepage still said that it would "ship in 2-3 days" and thus there was no way I was going to receive the order in "7 to 10 business days" from November 28th or EVER. In the email exchanges they claim that anyone placing an order is bound by their "terms of service" which they claim prevents the cancellation of any order at virtually any time. On December 7th at 10:08PM I received an email from them that they shipped the order - over 24 hours after I canceled the order. They never responded to my email of December 6th in which I canceled the order. I have disputed the order with Mastercard and will refuse UPS delivery. On Thursday December 6th I ordered the same products from VideoGameAction and it shipped on Monday December 10th with delivery scheduled for December 14th (i.e., 8 days). The order from GameAsylum would have taken 26 days which is nuts and I guess their ASYLUM name is appropriate! "
"Placed an order 11/9 for DDR w/2 pads and paid extra for 3-5 expedited shipping. Still haven't received order and no answer to 3 emails sent."
"I ordered two dance pads from them because they had the lowest prices around. It took about 4 days for my item to ship after ordering it and then it arrived about 6 days after that. So it wasn't the fastest shipping around, but it worked for me and the prices were very good. The pads arrived in good condition and have been working well."
"I have to say that i am very impressed by this store.
I ordered a metal dance pad on december 31st for the cheapest price you could find everywhere and i received it 8 days later by fed-ex
i live in canada and i didn t have to pay any customs duties which sometimes are a rip-off
Plus for every order over 150 dollars the shipping is free so the guys at this store make you save a lot of money
The customer service was perfect and replied my e mails in a matter of hours
Overall this is the best experience i ve ever had with online shopping
I started recommending this store to everyone and I know where to shop next time when i need something unusual or hard to find everywhere else!!"
"This reseller has very poor communications with virtually no way to get in touch with a real person. Nothing to indicate whether something is in stock or not, and no follow-up email to let the customer know if something is out of stock. I filed a paypal complaint to get my money back after asking for an update on the order and getting no reply from them. Had I not filed a complaint, I get the feeling they would have just kept my money..."
"Ordered a PS2 network adapter and set of HD Advance discs on Friday morning. Within about an hour I had my confirmation and tracking number.
The product was delivered in Mondays mail. So the service was very fast!
Everything worked great. I really only had one small complaint and that is the PS2 Network Adapter in the title on their site says "NETWORK ADAPTER - NEW PS2" key word being new. So I bought one and got one with no box and deep scratches on the bottom. So I checked back at the store and their description at the bottom reads "Game Asylum offers quality refurbished units that are under warranty just as if they were new".
So you live and learn, but for the $50 I paid I could have gotten a new one at Best Buy.
But over all I am happy. The adapter works fine and the scratches are on the bottom where you can't see them anyway. The HD Advance works awesome (bye bye load times).
And the fact that I order on Friday from a store in WY and get it in Ohio on Monday is just awesome."
"Their service is very slow. I placed an order and the order status page said it would ship within 4-7 days, longer than most websites but I was willing to wait. The order did not ship within 7 business days and on the 10th business day I emailed them to find out what the status of my order was. They never responded to my email three days later I get an email that my order has shipped. If ordering from these people be prepared to wait."
" Had them ship a couple of sticks and a PC USB to Playstation adaptor to my GF up in Canada (Have previously bought the same for myself from them). Fast, and expedient service, and a very decent price. Good, hard to find products too.
Also have had friends order from them, and they seem happy too.
I would recommend them to others too."
