"I purchased a Gateway 200X laptop from Amazon and really liked this laptop. it is very sleek and professional. The laptop itself has been performing well except the left side speaker not working. I called Gateway customer service and they told me I need to pay for shipping my laptop to them for repair !!!! I had several other brands and never had to pay shipping for warranty issues. another issue with Gateway is warranty, when I bought this computer from Amazon I was told it has a one year warranty from date of purchase. Gateway started the warranty fro the date they sold it to Amazon which made my warrant only 11 months. I called Gateway several times and they said they will fix this but they never did. Horrible customer service I will probably think twice before I buy a Gateway product again !!"
"We placed an order on a sale that was listed on this site. We ordered the same day the link was posted. The put a charge (hold)on our CC and sent 4 emails saying that our order would be delivered on or before Dec 17th. 4 days after our order, they called and said they wouldn't honor the sale. They claimed they were out of stock. When we first spoke with them, they were happy to take our order and help us in any way. After they called to cancel, the rep was so rude and unfeeling. I'd never order from this company again. I've never had service like that in my life"
"After fighting with this terrible company for more than 60 days and having them tell me (finally) they'd refund my money for a defective system they still have not done so. They have have had my money for over 60 days and I have not had a computer.
I have never dealt with a company this bad. They are on their way down. Check that, they are already down. "
"I will never buy from Gateway again. I bought a 450xl laptop from them in July 2003. Since then it has had three hard drives die. That wasn't so bad, because they always sent out replacements. The problem now is that the video card died and they can't/won't fix it. It has been sent in for repair three times (and I had to pay for shipping for all but the last one) only to come back unfixed. I've talked to four different tech support representatives who put in orders for a replacement chassis. I never hear back from them and when I call back I find that they never really ordered it, or that the order was mysteriously canceled. It's not that the replacement wasn't approved, the last tech I talked to said that it would show up differently if that was the case. The representative I talked to (or someone else) deliberately canceled the order without giving a reason or contacting me. I have written and mailed a letter to Gateway's CEO Wayne Inouye, and have heard nothing after two weeks. I know they got the letter because I paid extra for delivery confirmation when sending it. I guess my next step is contacting the New York State Attorney General's office if I don't hear anything soon.

"unsatisfied worst customer service i order my laptop 450mx on 8/27/2004 and rep said estimated delivery 9/3/2004 now it 9/23/2004 and the say it will ship out but delay till oct15 i spoke with several reps and delay from 9/3 to 9/15 to 9/23 to 10/15 that is the worst they could have said it will take 3-5 weeks fine but no . this has been my 3rd time shopping at gatewaay and my last. first 2 times perfect 2 weeks got my computer."

"I too am among the many that ordered the ATI X800XT. My order date was June 13, projected ship dates varied from June 21 to September 12. Gateway neither called nor sent an email to let me know that the order had been cancelled, stumbled across that while checking my order status online. Struggled through customer service several times, the only result being "Your order has been cancelled", a reason was really not given.
What happened to you Gateway? I ordered my first computer from you fresh out of college back in 1997. I couldn't sing your praises enough back then. I'm not sure if it was those horribly pointless "Gateway Country Stores" you had that sent you into oblivion.
Gateway has lost a customer here. I'd recommend everyone to look elsewhere for any computer needs they may have."
"Original order was June 17. Forced to cancel when Gateway would not apply new discount to pending order. Re-ordered on 7/1/04 with new discount. Gateway pushed back expected ship date multiple times, as far as 8/23/04, before finally cancelling the order on me on 8/20/04."
"I am part of the X800XT bunch.. Ordered on 6/16/04 and had my order pushed back until 8/20/04 when they sent me the email saying that they couldn't fulfill my order "due to inventory issues with the manufacturer".
Since it has been really difficult, if not next to impossible to find one of these cards, I was willing to wait until they had these cards in stock. I am sure that many people were willing to wait--especially for the price.
Gateway deserves any and all of your negative feedback for shoddy business practices. So lets try to get this number lower."
"What Can I say. GW offered a Good price for the x800XT PE. I ordered on July 1. It was to ship in on the 28th. This date came and went. GW never explained themselves. I called in and they changed it to 8/13. This date came and went. They put a hold on my CC 3 times through this. Then they pushed it back to 8/23. Today, I was contacted to say that they WILL NOT SHIP MY ORDER. If a company doesn't want to honor their prices, why make ppl jump through hoops for MONTHS, why put a hold on the money on my CC. E-machines has apparently destroyed this company, and giving them any of your biz is a mistake. "
"Horrible customer service. Call and be polite and get a tech with IQ of a handball and demeanor of a rapist, remain polite ask for supervisor, they put you on hold without saying anything and no one ever picks up. You're better off buying something out of the back of a van in an alley somewhere."

Its 26th August and still they havent released the money that has been blocked for the order in my credit card. Wat the heck, why would they block your credit card for a order that was cancelled 2 weeks back??
