"Found an Osprey backpack very few places had. Better price than the sale price at other stores. Ordered online and got help from online chat. Shipped very quickly. They helped me evaluate all the shipping options. Knowledgable staff who actually DO stuff in the outdoors. That is important. This is my new store for anything I can't find in my local, independent shops, and when it comes time do serious gear shopping, I will drive 3-1/2 hours up there to get stuff in person!"
"Ordered a Red Wing projector light on April 26th and it is now June 26th and have not received the merchandise. After emailing the company I was finally issued a tracking number that shows a stagnant blue line with the product stuck at a dispatch center in China since May 22nd. Sent another email and was told someone would try and look into the shipping problem. It's been weeks and I've never heard back from anyone. Don't waste your time nor your money. You will never get your merchandise and you will never get answers. "

"Advertised Tubbs ski poles for shipping cost only. I figured inducement strategy for overstock item hoping I’d buy more. Ordered just the poles and CC processed fine with confirmation sent. Then they called, said “of course we didn’t mean to sell for just shipping, no deal.” Then “owner” came on the line and said they made a mistake. Would sell for half-price instead and that they could have just told me they were out of stock to get out of the deal, but they were honest. Maybe, honest and just bad at managing e-commerce I guess. In any event, unwilling to own their “mistake” and wanted me to pay half to cover their cost. Or if I’d buy a pair of snow shoes they’d throw in the poles for free. Huh. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are incompetent, lack accountability and not a company I would recommend you deal with."
"Bought a fork from Eric at gearx that was advertised as new. Installed the fork on my bike, sat on it in the garage and it was immediately obvious the fork was broken - I'm glad that I didn't try to ride the bike with the fork, I could have been hurt. They have not done anything to rectify the situation - all I want is a refund."

Pretty unhappy, I ended up using it anyways because it didn't make sense to go through the hassle of returning, babysitting my bank account to make sure I was credited, and hunting for the exact item I wanted. I won't order with Gear-X again. They did ship quickly to their credit."
"I'm reviewing GearX for a purchase I made back in January of 2011, when my son was doing a backcountry snowboarding trip and I wanted to help him get some safety equipment. GearX had the best price on the Avalung backpack (helps provide a few more minutes of air when people are trapped under the snow after an avalanche).
They're on the east coast, I'm in Michigan and my son's in Colorado, so they really worked with me to get it to him on time.
I didn't think to review their store until just now, when I'm back online looking for a very tough, mini carabiner to hold my keys.
I was really thankful that they were willing to work with me and get the Avalung to my son on time. It was a big comfort to know he had it. I should have written something much sooner, but better late than never. Anyway, I recommend this seller and wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again."
