"Go Ahead Tours gave us every opportunity to experience the wonders of Tuscany and the Italian Riviera! Traveling with six friends, affectionately known as the Travelistas, we declared every day as "our favorite". Beautiful scenery, fantastic food and wine and fabulous friends!"
"In July myself wife and took this tour first off on this tour you get to go to 4 different countries and 6 if you purchase the extended tour. However we were disappointed in the fact that out of the 14 days advertised there are only 4 days where you are touring by guides all day. What go ahead does is day one is listed a travel day to get there all companies do this, however day 2 is meet your fellow passengers day 14 is travel home. If you dont purchase the excursion option on numerous days you are on your own which can give you time on your own to shop etc The hotels they book are all top of the list very nice the problem with many of the hotels you were far out of the center of town so to go out on your own you had to take a taxi or the local train or bus some people dont want to do this. Overall we were happy but there was alot of own time One highlights is you fly twice to a different country and also take a overnight ferry which was like a cruise ship, if you take this tour an excursion to Tallinn is HIGHLY recommended. The excursion to St Petersburg we did not do because of all the paperwork and applying for a visa was unbearable, if you go there just apply early for your visa or you will be paying big bucks to rush the visa. The tour guide can make or break a trip it the roll of the dice, we got a great lady Mella who went out of her way
to show us on her own time some of the local fare which we greatly appreciated.

"I'm sorry to give such a poor review, but that is the way I feel. You are a great company and offer many trips around the world, but I have become rather aggravated and disappointed on my last couple of tours. In my view, it would be nice to offer tours where you can stay in one or two areas, instead of trying to see how many countries you can squeeze into as little time as possible! Maybe, I'm not cut out for the tour life. I dont know. It was beyond exhausting to see 5 countries in 12 days! This was my third trip with Go Ahead. Each time, I've come home sick. If we weren't running to the airport again, we were running to catch a cruise, a train, or a bus. It always feels like you're in the traveling-to-get-someplace mode, instead of a settled mode. It's too short of a stay in each place, and the hotels are way too far from the main city center. So, once you arrive at your hotel, you have to try and figure out how to navigate to get to main sites, on your own. This means you have to take trains, subways, buses, taxis, etc, or walk.. Two excursions were cancelled, so that meant figuring out what to do, again on your own. What's the point of being on a tour?? I was truly upset. Except for our first local tour when the tour director, accidentally, took off on the bus without me, she ran a tight ship and was able to keep us well organized and on time. Not an easy task. Anyway, very sorry to say, but I do not recommend this trip or any of the trips that involve a lot of travelling within the tour. But, I guess that's what a tour is! On the positive side, we did see a lot! I'm sure, as I go through my photos, I'll be able to enjoy all the sites in a more leisurely fashion and appreciate them on a different level. Being that I am an amateur photographer, I, probably, look at things through a different lens! We photographers cannot be rushed! Lol! We need time to compose a photo. So, a lot of my frustration is, most likely, coming from this perspective. Either way, Go Ahead, I recommend slowing down, focusing on one or two areas, staying closer to where the action is, and including more local tours in the price. When excursions are cancelled, it leaves you scrambling to try and figure out what to do. I want to add that I feel fortunate to even be able to afford to travel. But it's not like I have unlimited funds and time. I work full time, as many of us do. I'm getting older, as we all are. A trip is something we save for and plan for. So, its extra disappointing when it's a whirlwind and not what we hoped for. Anyway, thank you for letting me express myself, even though it was mostly negative. "
"It was an amazing experience, people were very friendly, tour director and driver were great. The size of the group was just right (30 people). The only negative is I do not feel there were enough dinners included in the price. Overall it was an amazing experience, Canada is a great country, if you can please come to Canada you will love it. "
"I like the way Go Ahead sets up their tours because I have booked five times with them! You are given all the information you need for a safe experience as well as an itinerary that is comprehensive in where you will be visiting. Go Ahead's staff from the main office to the tour directors are wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly. I can't wait for my next adventure with Go Ahead!!!"
"Out of 5 tours four excellent tour directors. Got to see many countries in a way I could not
have on my own. Met some wonderful tourmates. "
"I wasn't as happy this time to start off our trip we had to wait almost 4 hours to get picked up to go to our hotel needless to say after a long plane ride we were not very happy. The hotels this time we're not very good it was my understanding we were to stay in 4star hotels they were not. The food was great and so were the tours but there were a few people on our tour that were always late around 30-40 minutes so that left us less time to spend at our destinations. So would I use you again I'm really not sure "
"We had a wonderful time on the Grand Tour of Europe and are so glad we went. There were a few things, however, that need to be changed. For example, we would go for 3-4 hours on on the bus with no bathroom stop. The majority of us were miserable. When traveling by train you have to handle your own luggage which honestly is unacceptable and should be changed. Too stressful. One of our travelers was on the escalator with all of his luggage and his foot became caught and he needed immediate stiches. We had to haul our luggage over several bridges in Venice and on cobblestone streets. Keep in mind there were older people in our group. The dinners that were included were terrible at best. The tour guide should not be choosing what you eat. (Liver??? Really?) For what we paid we should have been able to choose our own. Most of us left our food on the plate. This was unfortunate since we didn't go by any other places to pick something up. Beautiful sites to see but hopefully these changes will be made."
"My experience to all of these countries far exceeded any expectations I had. Our goahead guide was amazing. Nearly every detail and experience were taken care of. "
"The tour was very well organized and fun We visited many of the key cultural and touristic areas of the UK and Ireland.
The tour director was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, fun and he had a great sense of humor. All of our hotels and meals were excellent. The tour group came from different parts of the US and we all got along very well. They were all very nice. The entire tour group was very impressed with our GoAhead tour and all agreed that the tour surpassed all of our expectations. I will touring with GoAhead in the future. In fact, I will be going on another GoAhead tour in November 2017 to South America!

"On June 24, 2017 I flew from Logan Airport in Boston to Frankfurt, Germany, and then from Frankfurt to Porto, Portugal. When I left Lisbon on July 4th to fly to Boston, I took the same route, via Frankfort. It seemed at the time a rather long, roundabout itinerary, but GoAhead booked the flight and my experience with that company (five international tours so far) has taught me to have confidence in their decisions.
In any case, the tour (Portugal: Porto, the Algarve, and Lisbon) was wonderful. First of all, GoAhead furnished me with the opportunity to pay for the tour in monthly installments, which made the cost more manageable. Second, the tour guide (Luis Varela) was not only knowledgeable and organized, but also helpful and kind. For example, one day I asked him how and where I could purchase some postcard stamps; he asked me how many I needed and two days later he handed them to me. Our bus driver was also remarkably skillful and polite.
My traveling companions, mostly Canadians, were good company, too. Whether we were touring the Ferreira winery in Porto, exploring the university in Coimbra, visiting the cork factory in Evora, or admiring the scenic vistas in the Algarve, my companions were consistently interested and attentive.
I booked the extra two day tour extension, which allowed me to visit Fatima and some of the towns near Lisbon, namely Obidos and Nazare. In the latter town, I especially enjoyed the seaside restaurant where we ate lunch: tiny grilled smelts and fish stew. In fact, I booked every single extension offered on the tour and never regretted a single one. It helped that many of my traveling companions also booked the extensions, and that Luis continued to be such an excellent guide, unobtrusive yet always polite, friendly, and insightful. When i told him that I had read Camoes' The Lusiads, he not only knew what I was talking about but was also duly impressed. (As a high school English teacher in love with the classics, I particularly enjoyed widening my knowledge of Portugal's history and the epic tradition.)
In short, to adapt a phrase from Lord Byron, who was speaking only about Sintra, I found Portugal on the whole to be a "glorious Eden."

"My husband and I recently went on the Naples, Sorrento and Rome tour back in mid June. This was our first time with Go Ahead Tours but it will not be our last time. We found the entire tour well planned out and a good pace with places to see and free time. We were in a group of 26 travellers and had so much fun with them all, about half of us stayed on in Rome for the 2 extra days and we got to spend more time together exploring. I would highly recommend staying the 2 extra days as there is so much to see and do in Rome. Many of us are now facebook friends so we stay in touch. Our tour director, Francesco was awesome and we were so lucky to have him lead us on this tour. He was so much fun, helpful and always explaining things to us as we had so many questions. We would definitely book another tour with Francesco. We loved the hotels in Naples and Sorrento as they were only a 2 block walk to the centre of town. This made getting around so much easier. Our favourite place was Sorrento as we were there for 4 nights and it was so laid back there. We loved that after each days excursion to Pompeii, Capri and Amalfi that we had time to wander the streets of Sorrento to souvenir shop through all the maze of stores. I was in my glory when I found a beautiful leather purse store and found many items to bring home with me. I already miss the lemons of Sorrento. How I wish I could eat another lemon sorbet, the taste is out of this world. We loved the location of the BW President in Rome as it was steps from the metro station and only 5 stops later we were at the spanish stairs and then to the trevi fountain and pantheon and of course more shops. Thank you to Go ahead tours and Francesco for such a wonderful trip."
"Our tour guide Michael Z was fabulous! He goes above and beyond the itinerary with suggestions, city maps, and help with finding out of the way restaurants, sites and activities! The food was excellent, the bus drivers were friendly and helpful. Local tour guides were great! Just enough scheduled activities which allowed for exploration or relaxation in the allowed free time.

"I have been traveling with Go Ahead since 2004. I have always had a positive experience while using the company. I recent came back from my 7th international tour with them; July 1st, 2017 (Peru). If you're looking for a stress-free, cultural experience, then Go Ahead is the company for you. I plan on taking many other trips to other parts of the world through Go Ahead. If you book the trip, you WILL be pleased. "
"Our tour was phenomenal and our amazing tour director made sure we got our money's worth! She took very good care of us and our only responsibility was that we board the coach on time. The amount of history learned about every area we traveled through was over the top. Our two weeks was packed with sights and experiences that I hope we never forget. We were even lucky enough to attend the Queen's Jubilee Parade in London and saw the royal family in the parade. The customer service is definitely 5 star and they go above and beyond to make sure your experience is nothing short of wonderful. I'm not saying there weren't a couple of little hiccups along the way, as with any major vacation, but they weren't significant enough to matter and our tour director was more than happy to assist in any way she could. Just a couple of things to clarify ... you will be with a group of people and most days are packed with wonderful excursions and experiences. There are a few free days but you are in a Tour Group. Also, if you don't think you can maneuver hills and a lot of walking ... and I mean A LOT of walking, this will be a difficult tour for you. Just a note: Most Castles are at the top of a Hill! We have nothing but great things to say about this tour and it was worth every penny :)"
A rep from Go Ahead Tours, EFGoAheadTours, has responded:
“Thank you so much for your feedback, JanMN. Many of our tours are indeed very busy with a lot packed into each day. We definitely want travelers to feel like there is enough time in each destination, and so we're sorry that your recent tour was more rushed than your expectations. We do offer slower paced tours- for example we do have several city stays where travelers spend 5-7 days just in one city. Many of our travelers who are looking for a more leisurely experience really enjoy getting to know one location over a longer period of time.
We have shared your feedback with our operations team so that we can improve our tours for the future, and in the future please feel free to contact us about any questions you have about a tour you're interested in- our staff can answer questions about pacing, hotel location, and anything else you may be curious about! Thank you for traveling with Go Ahead Tours, and for taking the time to share your thoughts about your experience. ”
