"This was a wonderful way to get a taste of Europe for my first trip! I discovered places I want to revisit and learned about places I haven't seen yet. "
"The Walking Tour of N. Italy was wonderful - the itinerary, hotels, meals, and walking/hiking experiences were fantastic! Our tour director, Oda, was the best - her organization, insights and knowledge were unmatched by any other tour director my husband and I have experienced. This is our fourth GoAhead Tour, and each one has been terrific. Two of the four walks on this tour were very challenging, so hiking shoes and hiking sticks really helped (along with a happy sense of adventure!)"
"This was our second Go Ahead tour....both were excellent"
"Great snapshot of the country from north to south"
"Go Ahead took care of everything that we needed! We had no worries while on the trip. They were very professional and organized. Will travel with them again! "
"I have been traveling with Go Ahead Tours for the past 8 years and have completed 9 trips all over the world. Go Ahead has competitive airfare prices and routes. They allow extended days prior to the group travel to allow for some jet lag down time and private exploration. The trip leaders are well versed in local history, customs and options for eating and exploring. Go Ahead paces their time with you to allow personal exploration . I find that they go to many of the same locations as more expensive tour companies at about half the cost. Their hotel choices are excellent and the support you receive is consistent to make your trip special."
"We travel a lot and were excited to begin our Barcelona, Madrid, Seville tour. We were unaware what a truly awesome tour it was to be. Our guide Jose made the trip so much fun and interesting . Each person was made to feel special whether it was a birthday or some other important date and he was always available for information on directions or helping with flight arrangements. We also appreciated the travel between cities by high speed train... much nicer than a long bus ride. The cities we visited and the history and historical places we visited in each city created some really beautiful memories and respect for the civilizations that came before. The local color was enjoyed with Flamenco dance performances and the delicious local cuisine. The hotel s were all very nice and within walking distance to local sites. We feel we experienced the very best of Spain in a short amount of time and would love to go back some day.

"We had a great time on this tour ! We saw all the major sights and had time to explore on our own. The hotels were all very nice. I was concerned at first because some were outside of the touristy areas, but they actually helped create a more authentic experience. I cannot say enough about our tour guide, David Macchi. He was so friendly, smart, knowledgeable, interesting and helpful . He made a great tour even better! This was our second tour with Go Ahead and we can't wait for our next one !"
"Oda was the best tour guide ever! I have taken a lot of organized tours and this was far the best one. Great itinerary with the option of choosing additional visits on the way to Florence made the trip extra special.
I was one of the youngest people on this tour but everyone was extremely fit and we all bonded on the hikes."
"Over the years I have taken 16 GoAhead tours. I choose them because they offer consistent value for the price. I enjoyed the London, Paris, Madrid trip because it had just the right balance between group and free time activities. "
"I have some minor quibbles about the hotels, (but ALL the beds were very comfortable and rooms were quiet, clean, with great hot water), and the food didn't put big stars in my eyes, but the tour guides, the transport, the good feeling, the reliability and the way things went was just the very best, and I would now always plan a tour with them, and in fact, want to take one next year. Add in this: they are VERY price competitive.

"This was our first overseas tour. We were extremely pleased with the efficiency, value and ease of our tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. I would recommend Go Ahead Tours without hesitation."
"I am a "young" senior woman and traveled solo to Italy with GoAhead. It was my first group tour and my first trip to Italy. Go Ahead exceeded my expectations. I gave it a five star for a mid-range tour. For the price, it was excellent. The tour guide, Dena, was knowlegable, patient, humorous, and kept us all rounded-up and accounted for. Our city tour guides were also very knowlegable, and provided more information than I could possibly digest, but that respected our intelligence and interest level. I learned much more than if I had just gone to sites without a guide. A few of our guides had thicker-than-I-could-understand accents. Hotels were very nice, probably a notch up from what I would have booked for myself, so I was very happy. They were all centrally located, within walking distance of several sites, very clean, had lovely Italian linens, elevators, en suite bathrooms, nice big working windows, in room safes, provided full breakfasts. Desk staff spoke English and were very helpful. Of course the European hotel rooms are smaller than U.S, but who will stay in the hotel in Italy! I took several tours, all of which were very nice, in comfortable buses, which were air-conditioned. Our drivers were very good! I could have skipped wine tasting, as I'm not interested in wine, but most of our group really enjoyed it, and we all were very cheerful by the end of the evening. ; ). Wine tasting followed a visit to Sienna, but these two activities should have been separate, as we were quite rushed in Sienna, having only about an hour to look around after our guide lecture ended the center of town. Such a shame. Our group members were intelligent, cheerful, friendly, helpful but not intrusive. There is plenty of free time in the afternoon. I frequently had lunch on my own, rested, strolled around, shopped, found bakeries, or visited some sites. If you want museum passes, or hop on hop off passes, these must be arranged on your own. We never waited very long in the group lines, but we were in the shoulder season of late April early May. Would I do it again? absolutely, but another part of Italy.....although a week on my own in Florence would be pretty nice....."
"We had a group of 24 that were all very kind, considerate, helpful, and easy to be around. We were from various parts of the United States, Canada, and Nova Scotia. Scenery was terrific, tours were great, food was good. Couldn't have had a better group, guide, or driver."
"This was my first trip traveling to Europe, and I chose Sicily through Go Ahead Tours. I chose Go Ahead, as they had been sending me brochures, etc. for several years. I don't even remember how I got on their mailing list. Then I chose Sicily through Go Ahead because the price was reasonable, and I wanted to go somewhere in Italy that a person might not pick for a first time to Europe/Italy. I like to do things differently. However, I found there were 32 other people in my tour group who decided Sicily through Go Ahead was a good idea too!
I could go on and on about my trip to Sicily, but I will just talk about the finer points such as how I had Go Ahead Tours also set up my flight schedule, and it worked out great, I'm glad I did. (Since this was my first time traveling abroad, I let them take care of all those details.)
I was met in Palermo by our gracious tour guide Barbara. She was there to greet and meet me as I came into the terminal. After picking up the luggage, several other clients and I were whisked to the bus where we went to our hotel in downtown Palermo. After a fantastic group dinner that first night in Palermo, I met several folks at my table that I became friendly with. On all our bus tours I was able to become friendly with many of the folks on my tour. They were all so nice too.
I scheduled most of the side excursions, and I am glad I did, as we saw so many wonderful sites throughout Sicily from Greek temples to Roman villas along with never being too far from the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean, Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas.
And talk about the food, fantastic food. The restaurants and the group dinners and lunch were so satisfying with so many choices. Plus every morning no matter what hotel we stayed at we had the opportunity to choose many great breakfast items. Let's just say no one went hungry! However, we did much daily walking on the fabulous tours, that I gained no weight!
I loved the camaraderie of the other tour participants, and our tour guide and bus driver were the best. The bus was comfortable, and we saw so much of the country, learned so much of the history.
The hotels were interesting historic properties. I especially liked the Hotel Villa Politi in Syracuse. I could have stayed longer in Syracuse and explore the Greek island that was just a short bridge span from Syracuse, Ortygia. I loved that place and could have stayed a week there!
Our last stop was at Taormina, a wonderful old town with ancient Greek and Roman theater and a fantastic view of Mount Etna. I loved walking through the cobblestone streets. My view from my little balcony at the hotel looked out over the bright blue Ionian Sea. Loved having my morning cappuccino there.
We visited many churches and cathedrals, all pretty amazing and all very old and beautiful. And the souvenir shopping was fun too. Plus I found some nice gifts for myself!
I am so glad that my first trip to Europe was so much fun and successful. I plan on another vacation next June through Go Ahead Tours, to Naples and southern Italy this time. Plus I want to eventually go to Ireland and other countries, all through Go Ahead. I recommend them; they are more than helpful. It's like they "held my hand" the whole way, and that is what I needed as a first timer, but I liked it so much I will let them "hold my hand" again!"
