"We've all had vacations that haven't met expectations...not so this time!! The time spent in the Greek Islands was truly a jaw dropping slice of heaven. Our tour director had no small part in providing a perfect mix of information, guidance/helpful hints, alternate suggestions for those who needed to moderate activity, local knowledge and attention to detail. I would not hesitate to recommend Go Ahead Tours and look forward to my next adventure abroad with them!"
"This was my lst trip with Go Ahead Tours and I was very delighted with all aspects of it. I choose this tour in October to Athens and Greek Islands because of the time of year.. being in the off season, it had a good mixture of free days if one chose not to do excursions and the group number was a good size @ (24) . I felt this tour went at a comfortable pace, with great accommodations , good food, helpful information and staff. My first time to Greece and it was a delight with great memories and pictures to prove it. "
"1. The site visits are always in a hurry, just passing by and with not enough time to relax and enjoy completely each place in my opinion.
2. It is a completely shame that a beach visit is not included into the tour, since there are breathtaking places as I saw at the hotels advertising. I live close to the beach, and I like to see other beach places, specially Puckett.
3. Going to a market and having a cooking class was not a good use of my time, specially when I got food allergy with the first dish and I couldn't enjoy the evening. Fortunately, there were 2 doctors that helped me. The only good thing going through a market was capturing a couple of funny pics, because the smell of that place was to vomit. "
"This tour is wonderful in the fact that it gives you a taste of many of our countries beautiful national parks. Our tour director added so much more than what was listed on the itinerary. I saw so much of our beautiful country in 11 days!
My only complaint about this tour company is the flight itinerary. We had long lay overs going & coming home. When I checked flights on my own, there were better options. However, I would have to pay quite a bit to have my flights changed. I also felt that the cost for luggage should have been included. Overall, I highly recommend this tour!"
"The tour in Sicily was wonderful! Variety of itinerary : small villages, charming towns, archaeological sites, Greek ruins, Roman mosaics - what a wonderful mix of culture. And the food! A daily dose of either pistachio gelato or cannoli is the icing on top of a fabulous experience.
Our driver Salvatore was charming, attentive and a terrific driver. Carmen the tour director made the whole experience so relaxing, and she supplied us with much information and many anecdotes. Thank you Carmen!
This was our first Go Ahead tour, but will definitely not be our last - in fact one month after returning home, we have booked IRELAND : Traditions of the Emerald Isle ( and have a few others on the bucket list as well)
Thank you to the Go Ahead team/office for answering all of my questions pre-tour. They were always willing to further investigate in order to supply me answers, and were very, very prompt ! The great customer service really makes the difference!"
"Great people IWould recommend your company very highly."
"I have taken 12 tours with Go Ahead and have never had a bad experience. They provide a wide range of experiences for all levels of mobility. Great value!"
"This tour was just the best ever!! We saw the BIG 5 and so much more. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and had great senses of humor. I took this trip during this time to specifically see the wildebeest migration, which was truly something to see, but beyond that it was also the mating season for lions! They never even acknowledged our 4x4's! The accommodations were very comfortable and each had its own unique personality...from the high rise in Nairobi to glamping in the preserves, they couldn't have been more perfect."
"The best tour. Lived up to everything I had hoped. Sean, our tour director was terrific. Definitely a great value. "
"It was a phenomenal trip! Our tour director was amazing and always had our best interest at heart. She even went out of her way to take us into the city one day that was unscheduled as it was our day of free time. My only negative critique would have to be the prices of the optional excursions. I do feel that they were pretty high for what they were and that we could have opted to do them on our own for a fraction of the price. HOWEVER, as part of the excursions you are joined by some pretty awesome and knowledgeable tour guides that give you history, humor, and accessibility that you wouldn't get otherwise. So you have to ask yourself, is it worth it? If you are ok with simply sightseeing and snapping some pictures, I'd say no... save your money, look up tickets online, and do it on your own. But if you want to delve deep into the culture and have someone there to answer your question and not only tell you about what u came to see, but point out things you never new were there, I'd say yes. But take some time and chose excursions that you find most interesting."
"We had a wonderful trip! Our tour director was friendly and had a wealth of knowledge. Our bus driver was happy and had excellent driving ability on some crazy narrow roads. The hotels were very nice, comfortable and convenient to area sites. We couldn't have had a better experience. Thank you"
"Went with a friend to Portugal, Spain and morocco - had a wonderful guide in Roberta and saw so many interesting sights - learned so much of that part of the world - trip was comfortable - would be great if Go Ahead Tours could solve the tipping confusion and have all the tips included as some other tour companies do - it was the only negative of the trip"
"My husband & I returned from our first tour to Italy with Go Ahead Tours in mid October. The experience was so awesome we have already booked our second tour to Italy for September, 2017.
I can't say enough great things about our experience. It was a trip of a lifetime! Can't wait to be touring with Go Ahead again in 2017!"
"Very well organized and the tour guide, Constantin, was very knowledgeable and had a wonderful and caring personality.
I signed up for every additional tour and, while it was at times exhausting, I chose to pack in as much as possible into this wonderful experience.
The only thing that could have been a little better would be to schedule the Budapest extension during the week instead of during the weekend as, The Market is not open on Saturday and Sunday. Still, we did manage to visit The Market for a couple of hours on Friday and our hotel was located within walking distance from a shopping center where I was able to get a wonderful mani-pedi! The chair looked like the Marshmallow character in "Ghostbusters" - lol!
I am glad that I signed up for "Behind the Iron Curtain" so that I could learn more about that part of history. It is not exactly a pleasant experience but it is a part if history that is important to know. That being said, once is definitely enough for that!
I loved that we were weaving in and out of different parts of Germany and the highlights which, of course, included Oktoberfest, were truly exceptional. I adored the salt mines and all the different trams and gondolas we rode on. Everything was truly just so much fun! LOVED going down the big wooden slide in the Salt mine, riding the underground boat there was absolutely magical - like something out of a dream!
Even the extra tours designed and arranged by our tour guide were wonderful experiences and I would not have missed them for the world. The Mozart concert over an elegant dinner, a Hungarian feast, hosted by gypsies in a charming restaurant, and a homemade dinner and wine tasting at a small family run vineyard to name just a few. I was able to order the very limited eiswein to send home and look forward to offering an after dinner dessert wine for my guests, which will be an exceptional and unique treat!
The views of the Swiss Alps were absolutely breathtaking, as were the palaces, museums, churches and Parliaments! So much beauty and history packed into this tour!
To think I was in Bavaria, Tyrol, Lichtenstein, Lucerne, Austria, Vienna, Budapest...
I also love the unique and wonderful gifts I had the opportunity to purchase such as the genuine cuckoo clock I purchased in Heidelberg, the exquisite red cherry amber pendant from Bratislava and the incredibly delicious original Mozartkugel from Furst in Salzburg.
This trip was more than I could have ever hoped for! Truly a bucket list trip trip and then some!"
"Had the wonderful experience of travelling to Ireland. The beauty of their country side is astounding. The many shades of green were overwhelming. We had a wonderful tour guide (Patricia) and driver (Tom). This was our first time with Go Ahead Tours and it was just amazing. We saw so many places and had free time to enjoy on our own. Totally loved our trip and can't wait to return."
A rep from Go Ahead Tours, EFGoAheadTours, has responded:
“Dear Clemencia, We are glad to see that you rated your tour four out of five stars, but we regret to read some of the feedback you provided. A member of our Quality Control team has reached out to learn more about your experience. If you would like to discuss your tour further, please give us a call back at 1-800-597-0350. We are sorry that you feel the tour was too fast-paced. This itinerary covers a considerable amount of ground in under two weeks, and there is a lot to see and learn about at each stop. Our Product Development team strives to provide a well-balanced itinerary that offers a comfortable pace while still enabling travelers to maximize their time abroad. We take your feedback very seriously, and we will be sure to communicate this to our team internally for evaluation. Regarding an arranged beach visit, we regret that you were disappointed that this is not included in the itinerary. Our tours generally have an educational focus and place an emphasis on learning about the culture and history of your destination. This tour, in particular, focuses on the northern mainland, and therefore, doesn't provide many opportunities for beach access. We can, however, understand your desire to include a beach excursion, and we can reexamine this when we're entertaining possible itinerary changes for future departures. Regarding the cooking class, we regret that you feel your time would have been better spent on another activity. We are also very sorry to learn that you encountered a food allergy during the class, but we are glad that you are okay. If you are aware of any medical conditions, or in this case allergies, we encourage you to let our staff know prior to your next tour so that we can be sure you do not come in contact with that allergen. The health and safety of our travelers is always our top priority. Again, we regret that there were some components of your tour which did not meet your expectations. We regularly use customer feedback to improve our tours, so we appreciate that you took the time to share your experience. We look forward to welcoming you on your trip to Israel in 2017!”
