"Bought a gift basket for mother. I thought I was buying a nice gift basket with organic fruit. The first basket she received was falling apart and all the fruit was spoiled. Amazon sent a replacement that was exactly like the first. My mother tried one of the pears that looked somewhat edible from the second basket. She washed and cleaned and skinned it. After trying it, she may have contracted botulism and was extremely sick after. Amazon wont let me review the product and there's no option to get my money back. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT."

"The first month or two, I received some wonderful rare variety fruits from Fresno, but lately, the fruit quality or poorer than I can buy in my local grocery in Melbourne, Florida. I am a native Californian; my mother and father both had fruit farming friends. I visit and buy from farmer's markets in California.

I wonder if policies for Golden State Fruit have changed because of the spectacular fall-off in quality. What once WAS a spectacular company SEEMS to be not so spectacular after one year.

"Golden State Fruit is a nice alternative to Harry and David. They frequently have free shipping (especially if you order from their Amazon affiliate store) and they seem to be a little bit more "no-frills" than other fruit stores are. They always deliver when they say they will and we have loved their Golden State DeLite Fruit Club--it's the perfect size for one or two people and it's the only club where my mom liked all of the monthly selections (except the mango, which my husband ate anyway)."
