"I made the mistake of purchasing the product based on the advertising and not the reviews; I'm writing this so hopefully someone else will not make the same mistake. I bought the leather slip on dress shoes. I walk a lot at work and comfortable, well fitting shoes are very important.
The shipping time was adequate. When I removed the shoes from the packaging I noticed that they were not in the best condition: portions of the tongue and edges were bent and folded as if little care was taken in packaging. The shoes did not fit correctly, I'm between a size 9 and 9 1/2 men's shoe but can usually fit comfortably in a 9. The shoe was largely oversized to the point where the shoe flopped around my foot when I lifted it off the ground during walking and created instability when setting my foot down. When I used the included "extra insole" the arch support dug into the bottom of my foot to the point where it was painful to walk. The return experience was terrible. The company just refused to refund my money.
I would strongly advise anyway against purchasing these shoes. The shoes are grossly overpriced. They simply include an extra insole in the package and market it as orthopedic. They are aware of their inferior product so they have a rigged return policy."
"My wife ordered some shoes from Gravity Defyer less than 6 months ago. We were very apprehensive as they cost a lot for shoes. However, when she got them, they were very comfortable for her and were doing great.
Until recently when a spring broke inside the left shoe (without any known cause). These shoes are under a year old, and a spring, of all parts, broke. I work in Engineering and I can tell you springs don't break easily. Main reason is usually bad materials. She opened a case with them and they have been far from helpful. Even going so far as now not responding. She's had them for less than 5 months total before the failure.
Before the spring broke, she wanted to buy more pairs that were on sale, but the website wasn't working properly. So, thankfully, she didn't waste our money on more.
It's very sad, because for the intended audience, there are few choices as for shoes that help with abnormal conditions. Having such quick failure is extremely unfortunate. This is also in comparison to my steel toe work shoes I've had for 3 years now. I've replaced the laces twice and while they look beat up, they're still comfortable every single day.
We were really expecting better. After all, who makes athletic shoes that can't last? They're supposed to be the most durable. These aren't stilettos."
"I ordered a pair of gravity defyers for $99 plus shipping and there was a loud obnoxious 'click' sound coming from one of the heels every time I took a step. They sent a return slip in the box they came in and on the form, under "Reason for Return" they had a list of reasons from which to choose and one of the reasons is "Makes Click Noise". When I called to ask why, given that they know that this is a common defect, they don't test for it in their quality control process, they said that they 'can't have someone stand in the shoe' (isn't this is a quality-control problem that a smart junior-high student could solve?). You can return the shoes, but there's no guarantee that after you've gone to the time and trouble to do so that your next pair won't make a loud obnoxious click. Don't waste your money buying them."
"The top eye where the shoestring goes just popped out after about 60 days after light wear of 10-12 days. My 69 year old wife just wears them for comfort and not for sports. She said the shoes were comfortable but maybe not $140 worth. In any event they did agree to exchange the shoes after some discussion even though we did not have the original box (imagine that) They wanted me to pay for return shipping ($15 not even actual cost) for a defect in their workmanship. I have NEVER had an eyelet come out of a shoe after light wear and never expected a problem. They were a Christmas present. Not very proud of their product if they want the customer to bear extra expense by paying shipping cost both ways even when it is a manufacturing error (made in China) Must be new business people living in a fantasy land that think their brand name means something just with fancy ads and and a gimmick. With that attitude - they wont be around long"
"Nice and comfortable! Good selection of styles and colors, too. These were recommended to me by my father-in-law because my lower back always hurts and he swears these shoes will help. "
