"First I MUST mention that the "Hercules Shop" is a redirect to a sales site hosted by www.digitalriver.com an e-commerce corporation.
I was planning to order a Prophetview 920 DVI which has recieved some good reviews from hardware sites. This monitor, it seems, is extremely hard to find in the US. My two choices were Amazon and Digital River (Hercules Shop). I read the reviews. Amazon would not be able to get me my order in a month from what I have read. Digital River was not mentioned in the Hercules/Guillemont reviews on this site so I figured I'd give it a gamble.
I noticed on Digital River's site that there is no status of stock on thier items. "Shady", I thought, but I figured I'd continue. There was no field to enter a credit card type which made me somewhat nervous, but I always have the ability to stop payment so I continued. Ordered the monitor and recieved a confirmation email.
Doing business with Newegg I'm used to knowing things like, "when will i get my order?", and "whats the status of my order?", and even better, "is my order backordered?". I didn't get any information from then on and felt completely in the dark. So I entered my invoice number to find it was backordered. This is something that every online company should tell the customer before the order is made.
I send an email asking whats up with my order. They send me a reply starting, "Dear Linda...". Who the hell is Linda!? Well they are obviously cutting and pasting,
"We're sorry the product that you ordered is on backorder. Although we do not have an estimated arrival date, we are working with the vendor to
obtain more stock as soon as possible. As soon as we receive your product it will be promptly shipped and you will receive a confirmation email at the address you supplied on your order..."
So I immediately cancelled knowing what would be in store. At least my card never got charged.
In conclusion, Digital River has horrible service in terms of communicating to the customer what is going on with their order. I hold Hercules/Guillemont completely responsible for the way Digital River represented them. I've delt with Guillemont's technical support and am not surprised that their sales support is no different.
Hercules = BAD"
