"I decided on a G&L guitar and found Guitar Adoptions on the web. Dave Schmidt at Guitar Adoptions was friendly and helpful when I placed my order. Dave answered every question in a timely fashion. I ordered a G&L Tribute
Series Legacy. My guitar was dropped shipped from the G&L warehouse. Received the guitar 8 working days later and I noticed and that the strings did not line up properly and the setup was horrendous. Of course none of this was Dave Schmidt's fault.
I setup the guitar correctly (intonation, action and neck relief) but could not fix the string alignment issue as the neck to body cavity was not fitting correctly - a bad cut.. Therefore, I sent a photo to Dave and asked him what to do. He gave me an 800 number for G&L so I contacted them.
The G&L service rep was helpful over the phone and offered a few suggetions and also stated that to ship it back to them might actually damage it even further. Essentially he was saying - try to get it fixed locally if you can. So I decided to go back to Dave Schmidt at Guitar Adoptions and asked him to RMA it for another guitar. Silence...I repeatedly tried to make contact with him and got zero email response. I wanted to use email only to document everything. No more Dave Schmidt.
Dave Schmidt happens to be the owner of Guitar Adoptions. It also appears that Guitar Adoptions may have limited stock...so ask before you order from them.
I still have the guitar and took the suggestions from G&L - disassemle the bolt on neck and re-seat it and angle it a bit then tighten the bolts. After those actions the strings did align better but not like other guitars I have had or own today and it does not sit on the body butt end flush. There is a very slight gap there now. This will hurt tone a little bit. I realize that guitar making is not an exact science...that is why we need dealers that that have excellent customer service. Unfortunatley (at least in my experience) Guitar Adoptions is not one of those dealers. "
