"Through the years, I have ordered many nice, engraved items, and they had excellent customer service. I don't know what went wrong with them.
Mid-December, I ordered an engraved pocket knife. I received an email from ****@**** stating that it was out of stock, and would be back in stock by mid-January, and asked me if I wanted it shipped then. I replied yes. Here it is, Feb. 15, and she will not answer any emails. My many emails to ****@**** has never had a reply. My calls to ***-***-**** never goes through. I also get messages saying voicemail is full, call back later. Really upset with this. The gift was for my husband's boss. Can't say enough."
"I placed an order on May 31st for wedding favors. I never received an email confirmation. I emailed, called the company daily. I could never get through on the phone, with any of the prompts. It just rang and a recording said there was no VM, Goodbye.
I had to order the favors from another company, as the date of the wedding was getting close.
Now today, June 6th, I see that they have charged my credit card. I have disputed the charge.
Beware!!!! Do not order from Gunther Gifts!!!!"
"I want to go so far as to say this company is completely fake - no email replies, no answering of the phone, probably no inventory either. I made the terrible mistake of not looking at reviews before ordering a pocket watch - and now I'm "on hold" with an order I placed four weeks ago and no replies. A disgrace. "All of the previous reviews praising this company, are done by the business, Gunther Gifts! They're not even creative enough to change the wording. They use the same wording on all sites where negative reviews are posted. I agree 100% with the individual that just posted 12/17/14. They did the same to me. I have called for four days every hour they are open, no one answers. No one calls back. No one replies to emails, voicemails or faxes!! They're a disgrace. I've reported them to the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission. Do not use them. Awful cowardice people that have absolutely no business taking people's money and then ignoring them. "Ordered a beautiful pocket watch as a Christmas present. I tried calling prior to the order to ask questions, as their website says please do, ha, what a joke! Never got a live person on the phone....... I also sent an email with questions, again, no return response. I figured I would place my order as time was getting closer to the holiday. The watch arrived Monday and the engraving is WRONG! The invoice they sent has the correct engraving I requested, as well as, my email confirmation, so they just plain screwed it up! Tried calling, left three messages........ Called every hour in the hour and not once can you get a live person! The mailbox is full so you can't even leave another message. I sent three emails too, nope nada response and I faxed these jerks too! Super nice they took my money and gave me a gift I can't even give bc it's engraving is wrong. Hope everyone reads these teviews before purchase bc had I...... I would have never placed an order with this company! "
"Like the last reviewer, the few bad reviews out there were a concern for me when choosing to order. However, as someone who has worked for an online retailer, I can tell you that often times bad reviews are just a result of a rare mistake/incident on the part of the merchant or unruly customers who did not read the fine print and don't tell the entire story. If it's a mistake, I think it really just depends on how the merchant manages the situation! Notice the dates on the bad reviews though. They were pretty spread out and mostly years ago.
On to my experience, this store was great! I ordered an engraved leatherman as a Christmas present. The price was lower than most online stores, and I received it within a week of ordering (note: most other stores that offer engraving claim that it will take an extra two to three weeks). I received it quickly and remained updated. The product is in perfect condition, and the engraving looks awesome! I can't speak for their customer service as I had no problems with my order, but I have no complaints and will definitely shop here again in the future!"
"This company had some negative reviews and it did give me pause, but I think Gunther is a victim of people only leaving reviews when things are bad (which happens in any company from time to time. To me, the most important feature of an internet company is to be able to talk to a person when necessary. Someone called me the Monday morning after I placed the order (on a Sunday night) to discuss it, and I had my items by Thursday. I would always recommend leaving some extra time ordering any gifts, but I had a good experience, the items I ordered were in stock, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. Personal service, and responsive people right when you call is a huge help. "

Communication good - they did advise of B/O and cancellation option.

"I ordered a custom engraved zippo lighter for my boyfriend for christmas this year and though Gunther Gifts was great in the beginning, letting me change the engraving over e-mail, but it took them over 3 weeks to get it to me because the one thing I ordered was 'apparently' the a piece they had out of stock so I had to wait for them to order and receive it first before they engraved and shipped it to me.
When I FINALLY got my zippo they spelled my boyfriends name wrong on it!
I e-mailed the sales representative that I changed the graving over e-mail with originally as soon as I saw that the name was wrong and forwarded them the e-mails with how it's supposed to be (as indicated in the previous e-mails) and that I'd either like to be refunded or have them ship me the correct one ASAP since christmas is was just 9 days away.
They e-mailed me back this morning and had seriously changed the attachments to make it seem like they were correct....they changed the letters in his name to the wrong way they sent it to me! And then had the nerve to tell me that they wouldn't be changing it since 'obviously' they had been correct (since they changed the letters) and then said they would be refunding me either but that if I wanted to buy a whole new one they would TRY to get me my new one by christmas.
Do not buy from Gunther Gifts."
"I placed an order for an engraved bridge playing set on 11/01/08. It was intended to be a Christmas gift. The item did not arrive with me until 12/26/08. It took well over a month to receive my order.
I emailed several times and could not get a straight response regarding an estimated time of delivery from their customer service agent, so I finally decided to call.
The customer service agent that took my call was anything but helpful. He continually put me on hold and could not tell me if the order had shipped. He said he did not know when the order would arrive with me. The only advice he gave me was to "cancel your existing order and reorder using express shipping." The only problem was that you can't cancel orders for personalized items!
The order finally arrived the day after Christmas, almost 2 months after I ordered it on 11/07/08. I would not recommend using this company. Their lack of customer service and inability to ship in a timely manner made the experience a nightmare. "
"I bought a Devonshire hip flask that has started leaking after only nine monthes. The quality must be inferior. A product such as this should last for years. GuntherGifts would not make any restitution. "
"Bought a mechanical watch from them. The 2nd day the rear glass fell out. After just 2 weeks in my pocket (after all it's a pocket watch) it was longer able to display the time correctly: the minute hand didn't align with the hour hand, but was pointing in the opposite direction.
I have several pocket watches, similarly priced and having taken abuse over years, maybe running behind a bit, but none that has failed so spectacularly in such a short time.
If you receive their products as a free corporate gift that has no value to you anyway, I guess they're fine. But do yourself a favor and don't spend your own money on their shoddy products."
