"I would rate my experience as very good. The TV set me back $1150 from HDTVGUYZ. I could have gotten it new from Vann's for about $1450. By ordering from HDTVGUYZ in "open box" condition, I saved about $300.

I was very disappointed initially. The packing was a mess. The box was in terrible shape; all of the packing material had all fallen to the bottom of the box, and the bottom of the box was shredded and falling off. I had to help the delivery man to hold the bottom of the box on to get the TV in the house. Not surprisingly, the TV had slid around inside the box during its trip across the country from Seattle to Tennessee. The screen of the TV, however, was perfect once I dusted everything off. The scratching was limited to the base and the bezel. The condition of the base was irrelevant because I mounted the TV on the wall. However, the bezel (the piano black plastic frame that surrounds the screen) looked very bad. Following a tip I read on-line, I waxed the bezel with good car wax. I used Mcguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax, the kind that doesn't turn to dust when you rub it off. To my surprise, the bezel looked great. There were still a few smudges, but you would really have to be looking for them to see them.

Happier with the physical appearance, I mounted the TV on the wall. Everything worked perfectly. The picture was incredible. Following another tip I found on-line, I wanted to check to see how many total hours my TV had on it. You are supposed to be careful with plasma TV's for the first 100 hours, avoiding sports tickers and black bars as much as possible. I found out how to access the hidden service menu intended for repair men. To my surprise, the TV only had 23 hours of total viewing time and had only been powered on ten times. That's less that one day of total usage. I was very happy to learn how new it was.

One accessory was left out of the box. The TV was supposed to include a wifi dongle to utilize its internet apps wirelessly. I emailed HDTVGUYZ. They apologized and sent the accessory FEDEX the same day. It arrived two days later.

All in all, I found HDTVGUYZ to be a pleasure to deal with. They answered all of my emails promptly, and I'm not sure that the shipping issue was really their fault. The TV is awesome. I replaced a 60" Sharp LCD from BestBuy, which I hated due to motion jutter, with a Panasonic 60" plasma from HDTVGUYZ, and I am very satisfied. No one would know the TV isn't brand new, especially judging by the picture quality.
