"You get what you pay for. If it looks too good to be true, then it is! I fell for it. I ordered $50 worth of magazines at unbelievable prices. And I shouldn't have believed it! Something told me to research the company AFTER I placed my order and I ran into this site. I immediately called my credit card company and cancelled my order. For fun however I decided to keep trying to "work" with half priced magazines to see what would have happened? Take my advice. You will never get a magazine. This guy is flying under radar and I don't know how he does it but he does. Hes found a loop hole...buyer beware. Cancel your order immediately, you will NEVER receive a magazine from any of his companies!! None of the magazines knew anything about him when I wrote their subscription departments. None of them!"

"My husband and I ordered a magazine subscription from Half Priced Mags. They charged our credit card $135, but the magazines never came. We now know this is a scam after reading about it on this website and calling the magazine, Us Weekly, who told us we have no subscription and this seller is not an authorized agent. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at this website: www.ftc.gov/ftc/cmplanding.shtm, and hopefully it will do some good. Though the FTC does not resolve individual complaints, it can act when it sees a pattern. These people are nothing but thieves and need to pay back the people they have robbed."

"On the 2.August 2007,I ordered two magazine subscriptions on "halfpricedmags.com" for the amount of $75.60.I trusted the website and paid with my card.There was no phone number for this website,so I wrote an e-mail twice.The first one to ask when the first issues arrive and the second one that I'm waiting for the answer of the first one and that I would like to get a phone number to contact them(in both mails!)Both times an automated e-mail came back(a copy of my original e-mail) and I started to think that this is very strange.I was thinking about a rip-off and searched in google(where I also got the website from!) for this company.AND I was right!!!The stories of other customers were very similar to mines.The different was they all had to wait for months to get their money back,cause they found out very late about the rip-off.Some of them never got their money back.
And I also found the person's name who runs the website.This is how it works.This person(Joel Simkhai)runs his bussines under other names like magsforless.com (Mags For Less),my1mag.com (My1 Mag),snappymags.com (Snappy Mags),411.com (Mags 411) beside halfpricedmags.
People pay for those magazine subscriptions and wait.For months.When they try to contact this person,the e-mails stay unanswered.There is also a phone number.BUT this phone numbers will tell you(answering machine)that you should not call and write instead.The phone numbers are ***-***-**** and ***-***-****.They are answered by the same voice on an answering machine.It is very obvious that this is a SCAM!!!PLEASE DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING from this site(s)!!!!I had a charge back from my bank after I wrote them about the situation.Cause I never received anything from bbb,when I first made a complaint.

"Count me among the ripped off. I am an echo of all others on this site who paid for mags, but still have never seen them or the promised refund within "4-5 days." DO NOT ORDER FROM Mags for Less. Go to bbb.org and see that they have over 700 complaints. Thank you for the inspiration to get me to take the time to tell the New York Better Business Bureau about my rip off experience."

"I ordered the 3 magazine the last part of December (1 for a gift) by April the following year I didnt recieve 1 magazine, so I contacted them they apologized and said they would resend them and I should have them in 6-4 weeks. Everyone makes mistakes so I said no problem. I WAS A FOOL!!!! I Place a 2nd order of 3 more magazines for my Brother-in-law who was deployed to Afaghanstan for a year as a gift and to give him a little something from home every month and by July, out of six differnt subscriptions not one single magazine was ever recieved.

I spent alot of time and effort, just trying to contact them to get my mags or money back and wished I was warned before I ordered. (FYI I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE BUT WHEN SOMEONE FINALLY REPLIED TO ME AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THEY WERE FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY "MAGS FOR LESS" I THINK THEY ARE PROBABLY THE SAME COMPANY RUNNING THEIR SCAM UNDER 2 NAMES)

"I originally ordered from this company in May of 2005. I purchased 9 magazine subscriptions for around $47.00. I received all the subscriptions within about 3 months and was very happy with the entire transaction.

Based on my previous order with this company, I placed an order in mid-March of this year for a 5 year subscription for my daughter's birthday in June. I figured for a monthly magazine, that should be plenty of time for me to receive the first issue either near her birthday or right after.

A couple of weeks before her birthday, I checked on the status and it indicated I should receive my first issue within the next week or two. I waited and one week passed, then two. I went to the website again to try and determine if they had sent the first issue yet or if there was some sort of problem, and this time, no matter what I did, it could not "locate" my order now!

I filled out a "ticket" and waited a few days, repeatedly checking my e-mail for some sort of human response and not some automated reply. When over a week passed and I didn't get one, I again filled out another ticket explaining my concern and the problems I was having.

By this time, my daughter's birthday has come and gone and I waited over a week for a response to my second ticket. Again, I received no response whatsoever, other than the initial automated message you receive.

Today, I canceled my order. Then I tried to request a refund. The site did not recognize my password, so I changed it and tried to log back in with my new password. It still would not let me log in, even with the brand new password I had just created!

I finally was able to log in tonight and put in a request for the $31.00 I spent on this magazine subscription, via filling out yet another "ticket."

Judging from my current difficulty getting a response from this company and from everyone else's problems on here, I have a feeling I will need to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at the very least. Can someone tell me if I file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau listed here or the one in my state?

Thanks! I hope everyone (including me) gets their money back!

I am just really baffled as to why I had such a good experience two years ago and now, it almost seems like this company is intentionally trying to rip customers off!? Change in ownership/CEO maybe?

"Thieves! Paid for but never received my subscription to Family Handyman - have contacted teh company numerous times to no avail - no mag, no refund.
But here is a way to get your money's worth! They pay for eack click on their "sponsored link"/ And if their link is in the first position, they have bid for that position and are paying more than any other. They have to maintain an account that google or the other search engines can access daily - no 30 day invoices here. If there is sufficent money in that account - can be a credit card - google or the other serach engines can shut them down.
So click away!!!!!!!! They are also operating under: My1Mag.com,and Mags4Cheap in addition to the other sites listed by other members here.

"Do not order anything from this company. I never received my order. I tried to contact them through the email address on the order confirmation notice I received, but the email was returned undeliverable. There is no other contact info on their website so I have no recourse for merchandise paid for, but not received. The magazine I ordered was for my Grandmother for Christmas 2006. This company is so lame to not have better customer service!"

"Rip off-rip off!! Wish these reviews had been available when I placed my renewal. They did initially respond to my emails, reasuring me each time that they had found their "error" & would "expediate" my order. However, still no renewal & now my emails are going unanswered.
Why are they still in business? How can they be stopped from frauding other customers???? Who can stop them from frauding other customers????

"After failing to reach them by email or phone I charged back (within 2 weeks of the purchase), thanks entirely to reading the reviews here after the fact. Had I not I would have waited too long/past the charge back grace period which is partially how this scam works - subscriptions take time to activate and in that time your avenues for recourse diminish as the weeks go by.

Worse part is that the credit card company could care less since you're out of the grace period and they are not contractually obligated to help you.

My credit card company has never gotten back to me regarding whether half priced mags ever got in touch with them. It's now 3 months later so I am to assume the chargeback was needed. The credit card company refunded my $10 within days of filing the claim.

Someone indeed needs to close this operation down!

Thank Jenn from below for the info on filing with the BBB. I did so an also encourage others. Even with the charge back I requested them to still refund for the time and aggrivation of having to go through other aveneues to get my money back:

I encourage all of you to take the five minutes to file a complaint with BBB. The adress is www.greensboro.bbb.org/. When you click on file a complaint type in "my 1 mag" if you look at your credit card statement that is the name of the company that took your money.

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS MERCHANT! It has been almost 4 months since we were charged for 2 magazine subscriptions and nothing has arrived. Two attempts to reach them by email with no response, and phone number ***-***-**** simply says "Goodbye" and hangs up on you. Obviously, from reading everyone's complaints, this company is a pure scam. Someone needs to shut them down!"

"Update: 6/10/2007 - I still have not received my refund. I have filed 2 complaints with the BBB (no response from BBB), I am blasting the email addresses I have every day, I have filled out paperwork to sue them, I am filing with the NY Attorney General, about to file with IC3 and FTC. Please post if you can think if anything else we can do.
