"Very dissatisfied regarding a service contract. I took in my Dell computer, which had "clicked off" and wouldn't reboot. I asked for a diagnosis and options. The serviceman said it would be about 24 hours, so a day later I called. Got put on hold for over 5 minutes, hung up and called back. The same guy had simply forgotten me. He left to talk with the tech and, after several more minutes came back and said my computer had been "burning in" for 18 hours, but that nothing had shown up yet. He said it was running fine, and that it would be another half hour. I called back over an hour later, got another tech (or manager) who, with an excesive amount of attitude, said that they were trying to get it to replicate my experience. I asked how long that might take and the guy, again with a lot of attitude, said "however long it takes". He said it could be a few minutes, could be days. I simply went over to get the computer and when I asked to have it back, the guy at the desk laughed in my face. He went and got it, then started explaining that it was probably something in my home power, an outlet, surge protector, ground, etc. Why then did he expect it to recreate itself in his store? The overall impression was a combination of arrogance, rudeness and incompetence. It would have been easy to simply say that the computer started right up, was running fine, and that they could let it run for awhile to see if it recreates your problem, or you can come pick it up and try a few suggestions, such as where you plug it in, etc. Being laughed at, lost on hold with no apology, treated rudely and given what appears to be the run-around adds up to a totally bad experience. "My experience with Hard Drives Northwest has been great!!! The customer service was great, especially from the guy I spoke to, Craig. I was placing an order about a great special they were running online but on their website it showed they were sold out. In light of this I decided to give them a call and ask them about the special, they happily honored the online price and shipped the item out to me the very next day. "
"This is a service invoice. I purchased the computer two years ago from Hard Drives Northwest and have had nothing but problems with it. The service department sends me off each time with the same exact problem for which I brought it in. Obviously they don't test it for the customer prior to releasing it and collecting the customer's money. When I asked for the names of the owner and general manager, some 20 something little girl informs me that she won't give it to me so I can forward my comments.
Since May 2005, I've driven over 600 miles and wasted several days taking my computer in to Hard Drives Northwest. What have I gotten for my time and money? A broken, unreliable computer, poor service, snippy answers, and lots of aggrevations.
Bottom line- buy a Dell."
"HDNW is fairly close to where I live and had the time of memory that I needed on hand so I decided to swing by their retail location and buy it there. That was a big mistake. After telling the salesman what type of memory I needed, he rang it up and I paid. He then went into the back to get the memory. I checked the invoice to make sure it was the right type and it was. When he returned with the memory I failed to check the actual package and when I got home, I realized that it was the wrong kind. Mistakes happen and if this was the only problem I had, I would have had any problem doing business with them again but it wasn't.
Monday I returned and exchanged my memory. This time I got the right kind but they no longer had the brand (Kingston) that I wanted so I had to get Micron instead. My board didn't like the memory so I had to return that. They gave me a second stick of the Micron memory which also failed to post. I then called yet again and was told that they had gotten in some more Kingston memory and that a stick would be set aside for me. I once again drove the 30 miles to their store only to find out that the salesman had lied to me and they did not have any Kingston brand memory in stock.
4 trips totalling 240 miles in three days and I ended up with nothing. No working memory. No apology. No future business for them."
