I got a $230 box for free by accident

"So I purchased a bundle deal of 10 cigars for 15 dollars. I also purchased a single montecristo. Well I payed for one and they sent me a case of 20! It's probably the greatest thing to happen to me all year. The cigars came in about 3 business days and they were all fine, not damp or dried out and no cracks or damages. There prices are amazing and they have good quality. I will definitely be going back hoping for another lucky mistake!"

"I ordered a box of Fuente Fuente Opus X Toro and a box of Arturo Fuente Don Carlos. Both arrived on time and in perfect order. First time ordering...... not sure about these other negative reviews. I will order again and see what happens. "

HARD TO DO BUSINESS WITH

"I tried to go online and make a purchase but it's a lot of work. sorry, I gave up and went elsewhere. Note : buying your products on line must be inviting and easy to do - we are all in a hurry. I left your and went to Field Supply , spent over a $100 on cigars in no time . Your site could be simple too. "

Most outdated policy on purchasing

"So I bought 5 boxes of cigars last night from Holt's and today I got a message from them saying that for 1st orders they need to send it to the actual address of the credit card I'm using. 2nd of all they need to verify my age because with their 2nd party verification agency they were unable to verify my age. Jesus Christ talk about some serious nonsense and waste of time who does this anymore in the 21st century. I know this is the oldest cigar shop in the United States looks like their policies are just as old from 19th century. It's really a shame they have stupid policies like this because I was actually looking forward to my cigars and I was planning on buying a lot more from them."

First Hiccup with Holt

"I too have bought from a variety of online cigar cos. Holt offers good - great prices and quick shipping, but today I had my first hiccup. I purchased a box of Upmann cigars (at a great price) that came to me very wet. So wet that when I attempted to smoke one it felt like I was holding a hot sponge after the first inch. I'm not a novice so I know that drying out over humidified cigars seldom works. I decided to return them and a return label was sent via email after a few patronizing questions. A day ago I would have given Holt 5 stars, but now I'm wondering if their like the rest. A lot of them will give deep discounts on poorly conditioned product in hopes of people not complaining. So the question is; are you buying a good product at a good price or are you buying something that they should have thrown away? I've smoked a lot of Upmanns. Time will tell. "

Fairly quick service

"Bought two separate 6-pack cigars from here and they arrived within 3 days. Shipping only costs $5 from where I am which is the best I have been able to find from an online retail store. Decided to buy a 10-pack sampler, and it seems to be taking significantly longer with UPS saying it will arrive in 7-10 days. Bit of a bummer, but due to the usually quick service and good prices I'm willing to wait."

"This is rare among cigar companies. I ordered cigars on 1 Sept. 09, had them shipped USPS Priority Mail from PA, to CA. I received the well boxed cigars on 3 Sept. 09. This was timely, good service, and they passed my mail order test since there was only one review. After letting them know that I gave them an excellent rating, one of their representatives sent me a free 5 cigar sampler. How's that for service!"

" Spammer. Uses the personal contact information customers provide for the purpose of placing an order to send unsolicited bulk email advertisements, and then ignores complaints.

At this point, literally hundreds of vendors have my current email address. It would be totally unacceptable --unmanageable --if they all decided to start sending me unsolicited bulk emails every week. That's why sending bulk email advertisements, without receiving specific permission first, is considered spamming. I will not reward companies that spam.

If Holt's has inadvertently hired marketing staff who truly believe that's the way the internet should be used, then they can just learn, the hard way, how quickly companies that spam turn into internet pariahs.
