"After listing with Home Advisor, I was contacted by a Empire contractors within minutes, while still on the computer. I asked for an estimate and they showed up that day. I checked the BB listings and they had a very high rating and since their estimate was reasonable We gave them the job. "

"I love the way HomeAdvisor took you step by step in order for you to get the specific service you were seeking and then stored your request. Also, to have so much information on the various contractors was great especially their locations and REVIEWS! I am so glad that I contacted them and will not only use the contractor I chose again but will also use HomeAdvisor to help me find what I need to start/complete other projects. AND, I will definitely recommend them to family and friends!"

"Found this service quite helpful. Of the five contractors you referred to me, three contacted me by e-mail and two by phone. One of those was Artisan Design and Build, who I hired and was very happy with. Would probably use your service again. "

"I like the service it provides for people like myself but you make it nearly impossible to submit review of a vender unless you join some club needing my email, phone number and other personal information. Four times tonight I have tried to submit a great review of a vendor I received from your website but finally gave up. I have had 4 providers work for me that I got from HomeAdvisor and 2 were 5s, one a 4, and one 3.7. I will commend you that your "club" does not come with the cost of admission like "AngiesList", but I'm not much of joiner, free or not.
The same with this review beginning with "resellersratings" asking who I would like to review. I say HomeAdvisor and I was redirected to the original "who do you what to review" at least 5 times. If you want to stay above the fray, fine. Just admit HomeAdvisor is not open for critique.
On the other side of the issue, your internal structure makes it hard on the vendor/provider. As I understand it, if a consumer calls for an appointment and the vendor accepts, the vender is automatically assessed $70 for the lead. Often the vendor takes time away from other projects to provide bids when the consumer has no real commitment to ever doing the project--only just wondering what are the costs might be with no real intention of having the work done. It would seem more fair to simply charge the vendor a blanket fee over a agreed upon period of time that would cover 0-any number of contacts received during a specified period the vendor is willing to commit to.
All this said, I'm a philosophy professor not an expert in macro-economics--or business in general--but someone who seeks to find some sort of win/win situation for all involved. Good workers should be rewarded with good reviews (bad with bad reviews) and consumers the value and honestly of good vendors.
Even this review is essentially asking me to join the HomeAdvisor club. Only because I want my thought shared am willing to give you the information you ask for, but never again. Guess I just go back to lumber yards or eBay to get the advice I need.
So all of this, you now what a picture??????????????
Okay, we are now on the 5th attempt to share my thoughts of HomeAdvisor.

"I was looking for someone to help repair two walls with extensive damage due to a leak. I was told there were three businesses that would be contacting me- no one did. I don't know if that is the fault of Home Advisor but more probably the contractors themselves, either way, it was no help at all."
