Their estimate was 3-4 times what it should have cost. I eventually paid my next door neighbor $100 to install the faucet - compare to # mountains Plumbing bid of $386.00!! However, I was still pleased with the way in which I was treated by HomeAdvisor and would highly recommend their service. "

"The site is great in giving recommendations for companies. However, I did not know that the companies get charged $25 for these recommendations and I got immediately called from all of them. Most of them called multiple times. Maybe it was me, but I don't think that was listed on the site. I was originally just wanting to find out a approximate cost for painting a house and did not know that this was the process. In the end, I was very happy with the Painter I chose and the work they did. "

But the success of each project depends so greatly on the quality of the contractors that I am matched with -- some of them are great, some not so much; some reasonably priced, some not so much. I wish there was a way to request "premium contractor" (for projects that I really want to do well) as well as "standard contractor" (for projects that I just want completed and don't care how perfectly it's done). "As a Property Manager, I was on an exhaustive search for three contractors for three different projects: roofing, tiling, and landscaping. This home was a short-sale, and new investors want to revamp home, to make it rent-worthy. Therefore in my quest, I sent mass emails and test messages to friends and friends of friends. Still the investors were not happy with the quotes. They wanted deeper discounts considering they had approximated about $15,000 for the roof alone. Therefore, I "Googled" the word: "contractors Miami" they came up first on the Google page. I had no idea who they were. In my frenzy, I usually scan ALL websites to find keywords that appeal to me. I never have the time to thoroughly them in its entirety. All I had to do was type my business zip code and a selection of top rated contractors appeared. I was stunned. My problems were solved. once I called them, Home Advisor was able to direct me to three contractors and while on the telephone, my double line was ringing. All three contractors called. Then for the other projects I called them again. It was a miracle. I hired Alpha & Omega, 5 Star Painting and Albert Landscaping. We have signed contracts with them and the investors are absolutely thrilled. Shortly thereafter I received an email to provide feedback. I gladly did, considering time-constraints. EVERYBODY should use Home Advisor, you will be 100% satisfied. Until this day, I cannot believe how professional the contractors were. Thank you SO much for all that you do. You made my work SO much easier. I appreciate it."

"Gary Knight did a wonderful job. He fixed my vent fan, rewired it and made sure the squirrels would not chew the wires again. He replaced light switches and outlets for my kitchen and bedroom. He and his helper were clean, kind, courteous and efficient. My husband is a registered professional engineer who did construction estimating for years and said Gary's prices were very fair and that he knew what he was doing. I'd recommend him to anyone and hire him again myself. I am not easy to work for, but he was great. I plan to use Home Advisor for my next project in hopes of getting someone as good."
