"Poor product support. Inflexible and unhelpful return policy.
I ordered a projector in December, supposedly in stock, but that really meant in stock at a different supplier in another country. I have the projector installed as part of an art gallery exhibit. When the lamp blew out after less than 3 weeks of use, I needed a replacement fast to keep the art exhibit open, so I ordered one from another supplier who could deliver within 24 hours (definitely not the case with Hookbag). The projector is working fine with the new lamp, confirming to me that it was the lamp at fault, not the projector. Hookbag refuses to credit or replace the lamp, unless I send back the entire projector within 45 days of the purchase. Since they don't actually carry any stock I'd have to wait 2-3 weeks for a replacement. I can't close the exhibit for 3 weeks. Despite a dozen or more messages back and forth, Hookbag is unwilling to make any extension or exception to their return policy. I will never order from them again! "

"I really took a leap of faith with Hookbag and was happy. Got an amazing deal on a Compal barebones laptop which are extremely difficult to find in Canada without huge markups. Arrived within 3 days, but the item was in a nearby warehouse. Their order tracking doesn't tell you when it's shippped out so if you're curious e-mail them. I'm happy I didn't have to return it because it seems people here have issues with their return policy. My experience was good but I must say I was hesitant to order with them. I will probably order from them again if I need to."

""Alert with Hookbag's Business Fraud!!!

Hookbag.ca seems to have a low price among Canada's online retailers. But they are committing business fraud via their "return" process in my most recent purchase from them.
(1) Hookbag.ca delayed processing of the return. According to their return policy (http://www.hookbag.ca/returns), the return should have been processed within 7 business days (it was stated as 5 business days when I made the purchase), but they did not "act" until I made a few phone calls or wrote email messages. Each time they asked me to give them "a few more days." The order was placed on 2012-06-12 and the return delivered on 2012-07-16 was not "processed" until 2012-08-13.
(2) As a result of "processing," they sent me an email message saying that the refund had been done and I should expect it in payment account in up to 5 business days.
(3) I never received their refund even after the time line they stated, and then urged them to refund me as soon as possible.
(4) They (shamelessly, I have to say) responded in email that the refund could not been done because it was "too long (after the purchased dated)," which was obviously false and cheating. The purchase was made via PayPal that I have been using over 6 years, and at all there is no any time limitation as short as a few months at PayPal for purchase refunds. Even if hookbag.ca's claim were true, they should have sent me a notification stating so.
(5) PayPal has a 45-day time line from the purchase date for opening a dispute, which my case was far beyond. Hookbag.ca clearly knows this policy but they still suggested I should put a claim (which is not possible to be favored after the deadline) at PayPal so that they "can refund it."

They are making money illegitimately by cheating customers with false refund commitments. Since the funding source for my Paypal purchase was a credit card, luckily I have the chance to dispute this case via credit card, which I have done.

Since their credit has bankrupted for me, I would also have to start doubting if they are selling grey-market items.

If you had returns with hookbag.ca too, please do double check if they were actually refunded; If you have not started business with them, I strongly recommend you to stay away!!!" "

"I bought an air conditioner from this company. The brand of air conditioner was an unknown brand and I couldn't find much info on it. The air conditioner arrived the next day. We opened the box and it turns out that it has the most efficient rating. Here is how my ordering went. I read reviews on Hookbag.com and thought I'd take a chance. Put the order in at night and the next morning I put a ticket in to get information on my order. They sent an email saying it was shipping & gave a tracking #. A little while later I got a reply to my ticket saying that it shipped, here's the tracking # and it's arrival is tomorrow. It DID come the next day, but it shipped from a nearby location. I would definitely take a chance on this company again"
