"HookahJohn is a hilariously bad vendor that clearly doesn't care about their customers.
-Outdated payment processing. They require you to send a full copy of your ID and credit card so they can process on the back end triggering a fraud warning on your credit card.
-Horrible support. Support is incredibly slow and isn't helpful. I emailed John directly and it's clear he doesn't care about the customer experience.
After dealing with John, I did some research and spoke to the other US vendors. The reality of the situation is that hookah's in general aren't popular enough in the united states to drive serious demand. With that, John has done something incredible for his business by establishing himself as the "big vendor" in the small market. Most of the other vendors receive their inventory from John.
What this means for the consumer:
John's competitors will have higher prices because they are receiving inventory from him which means that on the surface, John's shop looks like the best bet. The reality is that if you pick up a hookah or accessories in the US, he gets a cut regardless so he absolutely doesn't care about quality or consumer satisfaction.
I should have listened to the reviews but instead I chose to take the gamble. This time it didn't pay off. I strongly suggest doing your own research before purchasing from HJ. Read the other reviews that are being posted, it's step by step exactly what you will go through ordering from this guy. Go on reddit and read his reviews there as well."

"Yes you heard it right! As a first time customer I spent about $1K to give this place a try to see what the hype was all about. I've been a hookah enthusiast for over 18yrs. Of the 18yrs+ smoking I've seen a big change in the culture. KM used to be very good quality with standard 24-30" fully load boxes ranging from $45-$60. With all the parts you need and extra cleaning parts and carry bags. Those good ole days are now over!! With the hookah culture becoming more popular with the younger crowd, I noticed the quality control went down for a negative turn. Shops started stealing and mixing parts in original boxes. Yes shops would take out gourmets, thongs, bags, bowls, cleaning brushes, base protectors, and etc. from brand new full hookah cases to sell these parts individually. The younger generation starting to get in the working seen of this industry and seem to mess things up. In saying that now being older I prefer to drop some money to enjoy quality things, which was why I spent about $1K at the hyped up Hookah John. I ended up buying the Bronze/Brass MIG Tradi w/ deluxe vase from them and boy was I disappointed. The item that they shipped was tarnished, discolored, had water marks, scratches, and stains. I been trying to contact them from over a week now and Anthony refuses to escalate my complaint to the owner. He said if I return the Hookah he will charge me shipping and restocking fee for a bad product sent from their end. Instead of taking ownership for sending a bad product out on their end the best solution that Anthony has was that they want the customer to take a hit on the restocking fee. Horrible customer service!! I dropped money for a quality Hookah not to be sent a $500 hookah w/ poor level of quality control that you would get from a janky liquor store, and the rude non-schelount customer service from Anthony made it even worst!! I will no longer be supporting this business!!"
"The hookah brands they carry and shipping speed are very good. The reason why I give only 3 stars is because of the customer support. It is not easy to get all the information you need as a casual customer. I found that a MIG hookah lives up to the hype, but I was not certain of which additional components that I needed to order. After calling and leaving a message, tweeting, and finally e-mailing, I received a phone back from Anthony. He was friendly, but as far as the product info, what I was told was that I would still need to order a separate bowl and hose. I added that to my extensive shopping list as you can see. All said and done when it arrived, I was missing a grommet for the bowl. Without a grommet, the hookah does not connect well with the bowl so the seal is very weak. I contacted Anthony and he said yes I needed to order the modern grommet along with this. If I order it now the shipping is 11 or 12 bucks but the grommet is only $1. I told him there is no way I would have known to add this unless he told me but the only thing he could do is to add it to my next order...I have a lot of tobacco to go through before that happens. "

After that my order was cancelled, with no reason explained. I have tried to contact Hookahjohn through e-mail several times, but never got response. My following orders were cancelled as well.

"This is one of the best online hookah/sisha related vendors out there. Not only does he listen to his customers but he treats them with respect and understands where they come from.
I had an issue with my most recent purchase and he fixed it promptly with calmness, courtesy, and respect.
Besides, what other vendor has Instant Light coconut pressed coals? This guy is a genius and that's why I give him my money. Because there's no other vendor alike. Not to say there are none other that rank as well as he does, but he's a top quality vendor in my book.

"Hookah John is by far the best hookah retailer! His prices are usually the lowest, but they're always fair. His shipping is fast and reasonably priced. And, he's just a great guy to deal with in general. Always happy to answer questions and respond to emails (often times with a phone call) right away.
His selection (sometimes) could be better. But, he carries all of the best stuff that seasoned hookahs smokers want and almost nothing they don't. So, 9 times out of 10, I buy from him.
Also, his "Narbish" hose is really great!"
