"Extremely rude sevice to the point that any interaction with the sales rep bcomes offensive. My inquiry about the order was treated as major annoyance. My phone cal was dropped several times until it was handled to the very insulting end. They did not even have an item that was listed on their website. So it constitutes incompetence. I would doubt that I would ever get an adequate tech support if I needed one."

"Avoid this seller!! All the prevvios comments still apply 15% return charge, grey market merchandise with no US warranty, putting backorder merchandise on the charge - a complete scam from top to bottom. I'm in the process of trying to return a camera and it's going to cost me a bunch of money. PLEASE do business with reputable companies - the few dollars you think you are going to save will be lost and then some if you do business with these weasels."

"I bought a canon a70 camera from these people, the website stated that it would cost about $260 total. After i ordered i kept getting emails from them telling me to call them. I finaly called them and they said that they had 2 versions of this camera in stock. One was made in china and the other was made in japan. He said that the japan one was higher quaility and cost the same price. So i told him to send me that one of course. I finaly got my camera and my bill which was $295 instead of the $260 like stated on the website when i ordered > : ("

"I bid on an auction at eBay. The package arrived fast although because of my location, the shipping and handling charges raised to ~$65. After opening the package I found a broken scanner. With the condition found we were not able to use the scanner at any chnace. The front plate was heavily damaged, focus dial broken and while lifting the device loose parts on the inside could be heard. So I called the customer service and was informed that they would send a replacement right away. A week later the replacement showed up and was indeed mint condition. It works fine so far. However I had to ship back the broken unit at my own expense and did not get compensated. What I found out while shipping the unit back was that it only costs $35 from Alaska to their place. So I have been charged $30 for handling, and they did not even check the first box before they send it out. I found being friendly but consistent in asking for my stuff and for tracking numbers made things happening."

"This company has a lot of excuses, but bottom line is that they sell what Canon (camera co.) says is "questionable grey market goods" that explains why they get a lot of complaints about no manuals and/or valid warantees. My advice is STAY AWAY. The amount of money you save is not worth dealing with their poor customer survice and unfulfilled promises. "

"Simply put, this company should not be in business. They are high pressure and not truthful, selling grey market items without stating such. I ordered 2 lenses and was sent an e-mail, asking me to call to confirm details of my order. When I called, I was pressured to buy filters, etc and then, to purchase a US market lens! NOWHERE in their website does it say that the Sigma lenses they carry are grey market! The rep was rude and I cancelled the order."

"First they wanted to give me an import version which is from the gray market. I got them to send me the original after some disussion. The product was not as I invisioned it, it had an "undocumented" feature which rendered it useless for me. They really wanted a restocking fee of $30 on a $140 product. And I have to pay for both shippings. This is rediculous and absolutely no customer service. Be warned !!! I will never buy from them again - worst experience on the net so far (of over 100 purchases over the last 18 month ...)"

"PROS: Nice lens, good and accurate description on Ebay. Good Price.
CONS: I paid this seller $20 extra for FedEx OVERNIGHT. I ended up paying $40 for 3 day shipping! They sent me the lens UPS and it was 2 days late. It was not UPS' fault either. They sent it out UPS 3-day which I explicitly told them on the telephone "I NEED THIS LENS TOMORROW...I WILL PAY EXTRA FOR FEDEX...THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT." Sure enough...the lens arrives Thursday and not Tuesday like promised. I spoke to 2 people on the telephone there, and one of those people was not very pleasant to talk to. The gentleman who I ended up talking to at the end of my phone call assured me that my $20 extra would be refunded. That never happened. They never responded to my emails. I did some research on this company and they have had scores of complaints. They have a habit of listing out-of-stock items on ebay. In my opinion...they do not know how to run a business...or at the very least have any organization skills.

"I would like to add my voice to the chorus of Booos for Hotbuys. I ordered a very expensive lens for my Canon 10D Digital SLR. A Sigma 100-300mm F4 EX HSM IF zoom--- a top-of-the-line Professional lens made by Sigma. I ordered it from the Hotbuys website at a price of $665. A few hours later I get the email that says call them. So I call them and I was promptly asked if I wanted the lens with a plastic mount for the listed price (even though the listing never said anything about such a mount) or the much superior metal mount for $719. Naturally, knowing that this 14 inch long, 10 pound lens would be much better off with a metal mount I opted for the more expensive version.

Then a few hours later it started bugging me that Sigma would make such a high end PRO lens with a cheap plastic mount. So I emailed and then called Sigma. And guess what? THEY DON"T MAKE THIS LENS WITH A PLASTIC MOUNT. Not in any factory (they actually only have one) not for any market, not for import or export or whatever. A plastic mount on this lens does not exist!

Furthermore I emailed a couple other big NY retailers and they told me the same thing--- this lens is not available in a plastic mount--- only cheap common small lenses somethimes have them.

So I called Hotbuys and challenged them on the issue and they stuck by their guns--- instisting it came with a plastic mount and refused to sell me the lens at the Advertised Price. So I then said cancel my order to which they responded it was too late and it was already billed and shipped, even though it didn't actually ship until the next day or get billed even later that night.

So after several months of wrangling with my credit card company and them, I finally got a refund of the difference in price. It's a wonder that these people are allowed to stay in business with such blatant, and decpetive tactics and such outright dishonesty. Do yourself a favor--- BUY FROM SOMEBODY ELSE!

"Unfortunately I found reseller ratings after placing an order with Hotbuys. I experienced the double bait and switch with these guys. After placing an order for a Leica 62 spotting scope on the internet I received an email telling me to call and confirm the order at which point I was told they did not have the 62. At this point I changed my order to a Leica 77 and was told there are 2 prices-- one for a Portugal model at the advertised price and one for a German model $300 more. I ordered the Portugal model and was confirmed. Then the next day I received another email to call again and was told they only had the German model. I cancelled.

In this day and age it is unbelievable that these guys can conduct business this way. Buyer Beware.

"I ordered a dvd player, and when I called to "confirm timely delivery" as they requested, the guy said the player for $155 has the Japanese warranty, and the (identical) one with the US warranty is $20 more...
Sounded fishy, and I said I just wanted what I ordered at the price promised.
After 2 weeks passed (didn't have it for New Year's Party!:-(), I called again, and was given the same line about $20 more for the version he could ship now, and being out of the US version. I said I only wanted to continue with the order if I could have what I ordered at the price promised and only if it was shipped right away, even if that meant he sent me the identical unit with the US warranty. He said he would do it. I called today (2 days later) to see if it had shipped, and it hadn't, so I cancelled the order.
I hope that's the end of it, and my card doesn't get charged, etc. I would advise consumers to shop elsewhere.

"I just bought a digital camera Fujifilm S7000 from this seller through ebay and I can only praise !

The delivery was done within 10 days (on 01/06/04), all accessories were included, as well as the camera (of course !) and everything was brand new.

I played will all the features, took pictures and registered to Fujifilm for the manufacturer one year warranty.

At the end of the day, it seems to me that the rating system on ebay is reliable, maybe more satisfied customers should provide their inputs to this website.
