"Great experience with this company. Bought an Aviator AX6. Initially, the wrong hard drive had been put in the model. E-mailed them about it, took a few days for a response, but then got a complete response. Apparently they had been out of the HDD I had ordered and had used a similar drive for testing/configuration, but the tech who had been responsible for that decision was out sick the next day, so the computer was shipped with the wrong drive. In compensation, they shipped me the correct drive and a USB TV tuner as compensation. Was initially dubious about the mistake, but they handled it well and once they called me about the problem, they were very prompt in mailing me the correct drive and the tuner.
I plan to do business with them again. A bit of a price premium, but not nearly as bad as other high performance vendors, and quite solid hardware, though their software configuration isn't great. Laptop came with the Omega drivers, which aren't bad, but they don't support multiple monitors under w2k (Which wasn't offered with the laptop, but I prefer to XP as XP adds nothing useful), so I had no other options in terms of drivers, as ATI does not have publicly released laptop drivers. Just something that might be of concern to some people, not a huge deal for me.
On a final note, under light load (Text editing and the like, which is what I normally restrict myself to when on battery), battery life is almost 4 hours, which is a lot longer than the 150-200 mins mentioned on the site."
"I ordered a Hypersonic-PC Aviator CX5 (Compal56 chassis) on 6/24 paying 800 down. This was enough for them to start the building process, as I knew I would have the total by the time it was ready to ship. Michael Cohen is the sales rep that I talked to and he was glad to help me get my laptop in any way. I'm sure that I became a nuisance to them near the end, or ship date, because I would call every day to see how it was going... Michael, however, was very patient and helpful, checking with the technicians to give me a better idea of ship dates, and then with the shipping dept later to let me know if it would be shipping that day or not... I did, a few times, try to speak with another lady, but she talked too fast for me and usually put me on hold for a very long time. This was the ONLY bad thing about HS that I could find... The laptop works great and I love it.
-Much cheaper than Alienware or VoodooPC or FalconNorthwest but still EXCELLENT support
-Great No-Dead-Pixel Policy
-Great Wireless (b+g)
-Excellent Salesman: Michael Cohen
-Phones are answered FAST
So far my experience with Hypersonic has been great, they ended up shipping before the estimated date too (only a few days, but still). I opted for their 3yr warranty as I plan to keep this laptop (with a few upgrades in about a year-two) into my college years. The warranty looks great, and I'm glad I haven't had to use it yet :) By my experiences, I would recommend Hypersonic to anyone."
"Ordering from Hypersonic:
I went through the entire process without picking up a phone. I bought the computer using their website and found the tracking information etc all there. I have a dislike of telephones so this was very convenient for me.
The original build time estimate was 28 days, but ended up being 30 days – I think it took them 2 days to process the credit card information. Shipping took five or six days, making the entire process about 35 days.
The boxes were well packed, although the laptop's had a slight dent in it (the cardboard). Along with what I ordered came a little laptop carrying case with some software and the Hypersonic binder. I pulled those benchmarks out of the binder. The binder then has an FAQ for a bunch of Windows and hardware related problems – most of them things I would be able to solve on my own, but I bet it saves Hypersonic a lot in Customer Service costs.
The Good:
-They offer free wireless Intel/pro wireless 2200 b+g.
-They have a very good dead-pixel policy, and my screen looks great.
-I could choose to not have paint. I did this because of cost, additional steal-me factor on a college campus, and the potential screwups and delays that can ensue.
-I don't have to have Windows installed.
-Cheaper than Voodoopc or Falcon Northwest.
The Bad:
-The build time was long, but because I expected that, I ordered my laptop at the beginning of my summer vacation, knowing it would take a while to get here and take a while for me to set it up. This wasn't a big deal."
"Hypersonic is amazing. I bought an aviator AX-6 laptop. It wasn't the cheapest here but hypersonic had the best combination of price and good reviews. Their tech support found my tracking number when it wasnt posted to their website and they shipped with saturday delivery! I purchased 2-3 day shipping, it was here in 1 day and then they delivered again on Saturday. Their CS is great and the system I bought is amazing. While I build my own desktop systems, I don't see myself buying a laptop from anyone else anytime soon."
"My most positive computer shopping experience has been with Hypersonic. I purchased an Aviator GX7 notebook. I am extremely pleased with everything this company has to offer. This is what I liked about Hypersonic:
- Offered the most current hardware solutions.
- 256MB version of Radeon Mobility 9700
- Custom paint colors
- Arctic Silver5 is used between CPU/GPU and heatsinks.
- Free 2 way shipping with fast replacement
- No telephone hold times, phones answered fast.
- Extremely reliable product, very stable.
- All latest drivers, updates pre-installed
- Not a single dead pixel on my LCD screen
- Customer service will bend over backwards
- Very knowledgeable and professional individuals
- Tech support will try to help you even with hardware you didn't purchase from Hypersonic.
- Price was less than VoodooPC and Falcon NW for same identical hardware.
After I received my GX7 notebook, I decided I wanted to install an additional hard drive that I had laying around. Since I was used to Dell and Alienware's strict warranty violation policies, I thought Hypersonic would tell me that if I opened the machine, the warranty would be voided. Guess what, Hypersonic told me that if I needed tech support they would help me do it. I thought I would have to purchase the IDE cable connector for the spare bay, instead Hypersonic overnighted the cable to me and I recieved it the next day...FREE! I installed the spare hard drive with no problems.
Hypersonic has done a wonderful job with this machine. I have not experienced a single crash. Game play is spectacular. I have been playing Farcry on it, with no problems at all.
I recommend Hypersonic to anyone who wants a stable machine with the latest hardware and the ability to play the latest games. I have been an Alienware Area51m customer and a Dell customer, and I must say that I would never go back to them again. "
"Extreemly slow to ship. I had a 30 day system build and ship. I thought that was long enough but figured that I would go ahead and wait. After the ship date came and went I decided to cancel my order. If they have such a large window and could not make the ship date then how long would I have been waiting?"
"EX7 Purchase - March 05 -
Awesome experience once again. This is my second power-house laptop from the company and within a year. My previous GX7 is still kicking butt, however, I wanted to have PCI-express, thus the reason for another purchase.
The ordering process was easy, great communication from sales and customer service. The only slow down was due to a touch-up on the paint job as the technician found a flaw. However, I received the system faster than the last time.
The laptop (EX7) is a beast, awesome paint quality and performance. I am happy with the entire process and will continue to look first to Hypersonic when finding my next system. Thanks guys!
GX7 Purchase - April 04 - Completely happy about this experience, from the purchase, communication from Hypersonic during the processing of the order to the actual system. The wait for the system was long, but this was due to my custom paint job.
Hypersonic also offered free upgrades (excluding shipping and custom paint) to items that was discontinued and changed. Awesome support in taking care of the customer.
Very happy with this excellent system!"
"To start, I apologize for the lengthy review, but I can easily summarize my review as: Worth The Wait. I placed my order for an Aviator GX6 laptop March 26th, which I received May 5th, and have been nothing less than exhilarated since. I had read through the majority of these reviews when originally shopping for a laptop before finally deciding to go with Hypersonic PC and, frankly, these reviews had been the major deciding factor; as in my case most of the best traits of Hypersonic PC came through. And they provided the hardware options for which I was looking, at a more than reasonable, highly competitive price, and seeing the customer satisfaction level brought it all together for me.
Everything I have read about long lead times is true, unfortunately, but you do have to be realistic about it. I ordered the Aviator GX6 laptop with the BMW Black Sapphire paintjob. The paintjob itself is impeccable; laptop assembly neat and clean. When I ordered, the website stated a 14-18 day lead time. I jumped on ordering at that point because just the week before, when I had first started shopping around for a laptop, it had said 3-4 weeks.
By my own doing, my order was delayed further due to changing options and upgrading. I originally ordered it without OS, and then changed my mind quickly after, contacted them, and had them add Windows XP Professional SP1. While checking the website again in early or mid-April, I noticed they added the option to upgrade from the Mobile Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo 128MB to the Mobile Radeon M11 9700 128MB. Well, I had to do it…
Not long after that, just days before my scheduled ship date, I changed my mind on the chosen 6-in-1 Media Card Reader and swapped it for another 60GB Hitachi Travelstar. What can I say? The reality is I was in the market for a portable desktop replacement after repeated experiences of downtime with my self-built home PC. And I was tired of carrying it to LAN parties and hoping there was a spare monitor when I got there. I got everything in a desktop replacement I could dream of. It screams, with almost no noticeable difference in performance from my desktop with slightly better specs. From power on to full Windows load is thirty seconds. I sprung for the Dead Pixel Insurance policy and my screen is flawless. I don't know why I'm always reading about 'ghosting' and blurring effects in LCD/TFT flat panel reviews while playing high-speed games but this screen performs very cleanly.
Customer service is A-. Basically, they're good. They're frequently prompt, attentive; just a smidge flakey when you're in a rush. My sales rep, whom many have mentioned here, Paul, was a standup guy throughout the whole process - one of the most helpful salespersons of any industry with whom I have ever dealt. He was thorough, reliable, and effective.
So, I only really have but one complaint, which may or may not be notable to anyone considering buying from Hypersonic PC, but was certainly an issue for me. I purchased using two credit cards to spread the cost around. When I upgraded the GPU, I put that cost on one card and, later, when I added the second hard drive, I put that cost on the other card. The GPU upgrade was accidentally added again to the cost of the hard drive addition when charged to the other card. I caught this quickly (the next day) and waited to see if a credit would be forthcoming. After a couple days with no change in my statement, I brought it to Paul's attention. Luckily there billing department had correct records regarding charges, Paul agreed he had mistakenly charged me twice for the GPU upgrade, and would issue me a credit for that amount. As of this writing, only some days later, that credit has posted but I had already received my statement and the extra charge was solely responsible for putting me over my limit.
Also, and I won't necessarily qualify this as a complaint, when I received the laptop, something I noticed was what appeared to be a floppy drive, which I didn't order. I immediately booted it up and checked for the second hard drive. Not there. I quickly called up Paul, he checked on it, informed me that apparently the tech who assembled it had forgotten to install the drive but it was still ready to go. Within minutes, from first discovering the second hard drive was missing, I had an overnight shipping number for the drive in hand. I'm really not complaining, because I ordered the second hard drive just days before the computer should have shipped, and I hoped they would've tested it, and I had already been hounding them about a concrete ship date. We've all been rushed, and we've all made mistakes because of it, so I don't really blame them.
In closing, it’s here now, and it is the envy of all laptops. My friends drool over it and I haven’t stopped smiling since I first turned it on. Special thanks to Paul for his patience, and to Hypersonic PC for producing a laptop that really stands out in the desktop replacement market with performance and style."
"I ordered the Aviator GX7 laptop and recieved it about 3 weeks later. I went with them because they offered 4x dvd burner/a+b+g wireless cards which no one else offered. I have been impressed that everyone there speaks easy to understand English and tech support has been able to offer a solution quickly. I have had very little hold time. My biggest complaint is that my laptop was switched with a b+g wireless card even though I paid for and ordered and was "shipped" the a/b/g. I brought it to my saleperson's attention and was told another should arrive in 1 week. It took almost a month which included several phone calls and emails (emails unanswered). I was given several reasons for this. My big complaint is that they emails were not returned necessitating phone calls and communication on this topic was poor. To put it into context, this laptop is priced much more than a similar offerings by other companies that use the same chassis. I thought premium pricing would included premium support/communication. Not yet. I would buy from this company again only if they were the only ones to offer a specific configuration, otherwise, I would think twice because the service has not justified the price paid. The laptop itself is very fast/stable and I use it with Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro without any problems. I am very satisfied with the product. "
"I recently purchased a notebook from Hypersonic.
One of the reasons for this purchase was for business. I'm also a gamer so I decided on a gaming notebook. I did alot of research before making my decision. It came down to Hypersonic & Alienware. I am a previous customer of Alienware so I felt comfortable with them. However, they did not have in stock the high end components I was looking for in a notebook. Hypersonic had every component I was looking for in stock. So I e-mailed them on got a quick response. I called their tech support and got a tech on the line in 2 rings. He even spoke English !! I asked him a few questions and he answered all of them without rushing me off the phone. I thought this is a good company to purchase from. So I put my order in. (it was just a little more than Alienware's price but I was getting all of the latest & greatest components. Very good value.) I stayed in contact with them throughout the whole process
always coming away with a feeling that I was important and valued. I received my notebook ahead of schedule and so far it has performed flawlessly. They even sent me a free briefcase!!
I want to thank Hypersonic for their attention to detail and addressing everone of my concerns. I'm looking forward to dealing with hypersonic on my next purchase. Thank you Hypersonic. !!!!"
"I had a little problem with the delivery (it takes quite a long time to get what you ordered), but everything ended up happily . Hypersonic pc systems are reliable.
"
"I purchased a Sonic Boom system from Hypersonic in March of 2003. I have been very pleased with the system since it arrived. Recently I started having some issues with the graphics display. In reporting the problem to Hypersonic, they were extremely helpful and promptly sent me an upgraded graphics card at no charge.
After installing the new card did not resolve the issue, the Hypersonic staff walked me through some additonal solutions to try and correct the problem. Finally, they recommended that I have the monitor checked out (I did not purchase the monitor from Hypersonic). Sure enough, the monitor turned out to be the problem.
Hypersonic allowed me to keep the upgraded graphics card and helped me throughout the process even though the problem was not even with their product. They wanted me to be a satisfied Hypersonic client and I am happy to report that I am!"
"So far so good. I purchased the laptop from the UK and have nothing but praise for Hypersonic. Ordered on the 3rd of Feb and in my hands by the 17th. No paint job helped. Boooting up no problem everything they said would be there was, including the latest ati graphics card drivers. Prior to ordering the sales department were very helpfull. To sum things up, the laptop is doing everything I could have wished for and more."
"I recently purchased a Hypersonic-PC Aviator NX6 laptop. This was my first laptop purchase, and I was more than a little picky with finding the right company to buy from. The main feature I was looking for was the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo. Out of all the companies that had this graphics card, Hypersonic had the most amount of customizable features, and unbeatable pricing.
I agree with many others that have purchased a Hypersonic PC that the month wait can be nerve recking. However, consider the 72 hour burn in test. That alone will take about 2 weeks to finish. And that's assuming that they are working on your laptop every single day. Then there's the time to actually build the laptop. This is not even taking into account of the time it takes for them to process your order. All and all, they are not a HUGE Mega Corporation that has thousands of lackies to slave over their products. With that in mind, a months wait is not that bad for the quality of laptop you get in return.
Speaking of quality, the Aviator NX6 I recieved is abosutely mind blowing! I honestly don't think that I will ever order a Desktop ever again. It takes around 10 seconds to fully boot up and load. It is definently a desktop replacement laptop.
Hypersonic has definently won me over. I've recommended it to all my friends. If they can keep and improve on their level of quality in the years to come, I'm a Hypersonic PC customer for life."
"I ordered a laptop, a GX-6. I had spoken with Paul in the Sales department and had many specific questions, all which were answered. I was told the laptop would take 3 weeks if it was not painted (the web site listed 4 weeks) but it took a tad longer. I had asked what would happen if they were late and as promised they bumped up my shipping. The Bluetooth chip on the laptop did not work and after a brief talk with tech support they sent me another one. unfortunately the same chip for bluetooth is also the modem chip and chip #2 broke the modem. Called tech support and the tech put chip #3 in his test laptop and checked that both the modem and bluetooth were working. I got the chip the next day. Everything is working now. I was pleased with the level of support from both sales and tech. There was no hassle about the bluetooth chips. Chips fail and sometimes parts go bad, but what I found reassuring was that Hypersonic was able to promptly and competently handle the problem."
