"He then gave me a number to call so I could arrange a pickup for an article that was inadequately described or I would never have bought it. I called and was answered swiftly because they could actually get credit card info and charge me. The associate then gave me another telephone number to cal which was invalid. I called the first number again to be told that there was 108 minute wait. "
"I purchased online and they short shipped my order. I couldn’t get through by phone due to being on hold for over 30 minutes. I used their online form to report the short ship. It states someone would get back to me within 24-48 hours. 3/8 I sent email and they didn’t respond until 3/13. They asked if I wanted my money back or product. I let them know I wanted my product that I had paid for. With my response of I want what I had paid for email on 3/13... they didn’t respond to that until 3/17 stating they would ship out my items. It’s now 3/27 and my items have yet to ship and no info from IKEA. This all started on 3/8 and it’s basically 20 days later with no resolve. I can’t believe a large chain can have such horrific customer service. I will absolutely never shop online with IKEA and stress that no one else does either, for their own sanity. "
"I have very awful experience with IKEA home delivery and IKEA customer service. I am utterly disappointed and would not recommend IKEA online shopping and home delivery to anyone. I ordered a IKEA dining table set and a coffee table online and requested home delivery. Their delivery partner XPO logistics failed to deliver the item in 3 consecutive attempts. Every time they schedule / re schedule the delivery and confirm the delivery date and timing by calling your phone before the delivery, but they just don’t appear on the delivery date. Even after the failed delivery neither IKEA nor XPO will call you to reschedule the delivery. IKEA will instruct you to call delivery partner and when you call XPO they will say call IKEA to reschedule the delivery. There is no communication between IKEA and XPO. And when you try to reach IKEA over phone, you may have to wait from 30 min to 1 hour to reach a customer service representative. Sometimes I had to wait even more than an hour, I don’t know who has that much of time and patience just to get some furniture delivered. Finally after 1.5 month and 3 failed delivery attempt I gave up and requested a refund. And to my absolute surprise and anger, they said they will process the refund once they get the merchandize back to their warehouse. Probably XPO lost the shipment which is why they could not deliver, and in that case they will never be able to return the order to IKEA, then why should I be penalised for their fault. I told them as soon as XPO confirms that they did not deliver the item, which they confirmed already, I should get my money back. It’s been more than a month now after the refund request placed and still have not got my $600 back. I was eagerly waiting to share a positive feedback on the IKEA product quality, so much I had heard of, but how would you do that when you do not even receive the product and end up with an experience of absolute harassment along with sheer wastage of money, time and effort."
"I ordered a bedroom closet last week of January, waited more than a week for delivery only to find out that they gave us wrong boxes of the items, hence we could not aI orderedssemble it. So I called Ikea customer service, and its the worst customer service I ever encountered. Not even one word of sorry or any apology coming from that ladys mouth. Didnt even offer anything to compromise at least and make my situation a little bit better. Instead she told me if I will return it early to any Ikea store I will be charged for it for the store taking the item back. and If I would want them to give me the right items, I have to wait another ten days, and wait for ten days too, to get the old boxes from us. it is not convenient in my part since we have a small apartment and the three big boxes are nowhere to keep it somewhere out of sight, considering I have two toddlers running around. Plus now, all our wardrobe is out , since I got rid of the old cabinet to make room for the supposedly working closet today... so our place is such in a big mess... I would understand that lady because its not her fault anyway, but as a customer representative you are obliged to make amends on the customers part, I used to work in a hospitality industry for many years, and I know what can a customer service representative can do. you just dont neglect the emotional and physical setback on the customer's part... what **** me off is that lady is never, never apologetic at all. she is working in behalf of Ikea so its her responsibility to speak for them and say sorry at least! for the freakin' inconvenience they put us on!!!
worst worst experience ever, never again will deal with this company... I hope ikea will read this and make necessary action for the hundreds complaints waiting for them... seriously!"
"I ordered the sleeper sofa in Brooklyn store and scheduled delivery for January 23rd 2018. The item never arrived and we had to reschedule. Afterwards, IKEA sent us a store card for amount less I paid for. Furthermore, I replaced the order with customer service and the item never arrived on February 2nd 2018. Then we contacted IKEA again and the item was supposed to come on February 3rd. The item was scheduled to be delivered 2-6pm and the item never came. The trucking company alleged said we were not at home while we waited from 1pm. Nevertheless, we contacted IKEA several times to confirm and they promised us the item would arrive as promised. The item never came and we got an email stating they will attempt delivery again with the delivery fee. Horrible!! We contacted them again and they told us the delivery company alleged tried to deliver the item. They kept pushing delivery for redelivery. My judgement they want to charge the fee and claim that the customer was not present at home. I ordered this sleeper sofa for my mother that is 86 years old. I was promised in store that I will get the item for the money I paid for. Every IKEA customer service representative had the same response. They can’t resolve any issues I have addressed in the conversation. I felt so stressed and I felt like I was being accused as a liar. The level of service is 0/10. "
"I was looking for a clothes hanger for my apartment, but needed one for a good deal. I was able to find a great clothes hanger, at an affordable price within minutes. Thank you, Ikea!"
"If you are used to ordering on Amazon ikea.com is nothing like it. My elderly mother has a home in the country, not close to any big cities. We used IKEA online to order a kitchen item for a rental unit. This item was not shipped in a timely manner and we were unable to speak with anyone at their customer service toll-free number. The hold was extremely long, +2 hours when we did finally speak with someone. We were informed that item could not be canceled as it was already waiting for delivery. This item was not shipped out for at least another 3 days. When we did receive the delivery, item was damaged. They did not properly package the items for the Fedex delivery. Again a 2 + hour hold on the phone revealed no response or answer. We had to drive 2 hours to a IKEA store to return item and 2 hours back. The IKEA store would not refund the delivery charge and said we had to receive that from IKEA online. After that, we gave up and vowed never to deal with IKEA online again!"
"I recently ordered over $200 worth of furniture online and paid extra ($50+) to have them delivered. I received the initial email stating that my order might be delivered two weeks from the order date. The problem is that I will be out of town, so I decided to email them to ask a simple question. Up to this point, there was no issue.
However, unlike the confirmation email you receive informing you that they'll respond back to you within 48 hours, I waited 3 days before shooting them another email. I waited two more days, which is the promised 48 hour mark. Since they were not responding to my emails, I decided to give them a call. I called a total of three times and only got through once. First two times, I became tired after being on 'hold' for 30+ minutes. The third time I attempted to get a hold of them, I was on a hold for ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES!!!! I'm not exaggerating. I literally waited by my phone for 1h 15min. Once I finally got to speak to a real person, for some mysterious reason, their phone died. I do not think that this was merely a coincidence. I could not confirm or resolve any issues after wasting good 2+ hours of my life. You would think a company this established would have decent customer service. It actually has one of the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.
I still do not know when and what time they will be delivering my items. I want to cancel the whole transaction, but they obviously have a foolproof method of inhibiting you from cancelling your order."
"As a German with IKEA experience for more than 30 years I can tell you that IKEA in the USA is far away from the European quality. They deliver stuff which doesn't fit together or is damaged and then you will have a hard time to get a replacement or your money back. I never ever had such an experience in Europe. I used to love IKEA and ordered countless furniture over the years, in Germany and Spain.
In the US your chance is around 50% that you get what you want and that it will fit together.
E.G. we just got two beds from them. The slatted frame is too small for the bed. So we had to fix it somehow, so that it will not move around when you use the bed. After assembling the first bed we started the second one and found that they delivered two wooden lathes for the right side of the slatted frame. There is no chance to assemble the bed this way. We tried everything but it didn't work. That's so frustrating. Especially when you've just moved and have no time at all.
IKEA, hire someone to do quality control like it is normal and mandatory in Europe."
"Ikea's corporate office, ***-***-****. "
"I purchased a tall cabinet for my kitchen. it was the poorest of quality. then it fell down. I had my back to the cabinet but still broken glass cut one of my feet. difficult to get it picked up for a return. it is months and I still do not have the refund. I get emails telling me they apologize they are so backed up. We all have ordered items that were returned. How long did it take to get the refund? Not months and numerous excuses."
"Worst costumer service. The whole store is a scam. On hold for an hour. Never shop there. Horrible company. Nasty company. Not accommodating. They cancel furniture out of stock that was part of a set without asking. They are liars. Hate them!!!!"
"If you are really angry, comment on my new FB page called ihateikea. I am self employed. I took a day off work to receive delivery. No show. I tried to call in and was on hold for over an hour, until I hung up and pretended I was buying something new - that was the only way to get someone on the line. A manager assured me she rescheduled for a two hour window on another day. I took another day off work and they never showed up again. Again I spent over an hour trying to find out what is going on. After an hour on the phone they refused to redeliver the following day saying they are now full for deliveries. Incompetent, terrible, company from hell. I will never again be desperate enough to shop there. I have lost a lot of money from two days off work for nothing."
"I've researched online ordering experience from IKEA all over the internet. It took me a month to give the decision to whether do it online, or rent a car and drive all the way to Stoughton. I've never came across to one good review about IKEA's online service. People complains about losing their orders, one piece not showing up, calling and not reaching anyone etc. However, I took the risk, I placed an order on May 5 and I've received my order this morning. It's parcel delivery, but a lot of pieces including medium size furniture. No hassle, nothing. Estimated delivery date was given as May 13. Products came 1 day earlier, in great condition with Fedex. As long as they emailed me they shipped my order, I could track my order.
I wrote this review, so people like me who hesitates because of all the awful experiences other people had, could also read about the good experiences and make an informed decision. When you experience something bad, you have the urge to write about it. Maybe the reason IKEA has so many negative reviews on the internet is people with good experiences never typed about it.
I'm very pleased as a customer and I'd order online again."
"I ordered some furniture online and got a shipping date. I admit, I didn't read the fine print because I'd had a delivery by IKEA in the past without a problem. So a few weeks before the delivery, I called and reconfirmed the date. No one told me that is not a real date, just an estimated date, even though I talked to someone. So on the date it was to be delivered, I took off of work and waited all day. Finally, at 8pm, I called IKEA. They told me the date was only an estimate and the delivery company would call about a final date. apparently, one component of my delivery wasn't available. They said they sent me an email, but I checked through both inbox and deleted and spam and there was no email. So, I said I have to leave town for 2 1/2 weeks, so I want to cancel my order. She said fine, but if it has already gone for delivery, you have to pay the delivery fee. I think it was $100. I said, I thought you said it was delayed. Yes, she said, but now it's in. So, she said she couldn't tell me if it had gone to the shippers or not, and I'd just have to wait until they figured it out and then I would find out if I had to pay the delivery even if I cancelled my order. So, I think this is a very poor way to do business. Since they didn't have the product and I already lost a day of work, at least they could not charge for a nonexistent delivery."
