"“www.cellularchoices.net” is run by InPhonic for selling cellphones online. This website, together with “www.cellphonerebates.com”, uses so-called "Customer Loyalty Rebate" to tempt or trap ones to buy their products. However, once you buy their listed product(s), they will try hard to keep you from getting the rebate you should earn by means of the misleading and trick rebate rules. I am one of the victims (or suckers) whose rebate request was unreasonably denied by their tricky “rebate” rules. I feel being cheated by their misleading advertisement, especially the poor attitude and way to treat customers. Hope you won't make the same mistake as I did.

===============================================
Here is part of the complaint letter I sent to their management (they didn't reply):

As per the request, I supplied and mailed all required documents for this rebate. Nevertheless, my case is still denied for the reason that my mail was 14 days later than the required maximum 210 days. This denial is not convincing and unfair to me because the mail delay is not of my fault but due to the misleading instructions provided in the rebate form. My point is justified as follows.

Rule#3 in the rebate form is stated to include: “Your wireless service bills for this account dated between 150-210 days after the activation date shown on your sales receipt.” Meanwhile, Rule#5 states that “REBATE FORMS MUST BE POSTMARKED…… NO LATER THAN 210 DAYS AFTER THIS ACTIVATION DATE.”

However, these two statements are potentially conflicting to each other in view of “210 days” required in both rules. On the one hand, Rule#3 allows one to collect 210-day bills (7 months) for submission. On the other hand, the postmark requirement in Rule#5 fails one to collect 210 days long bills for rebate submission. This is because, if one collects 210-day bills (7months) for rebate (which is allowed according to Rule#3), he/she will automatically fail to have the mail postmarked before 210 days. It is very unfortunate that this case exactly happened to me.

In my case, to best demonstrate my loyalty (which is the rebate all about), I intuitively collected 7-month (210 days) bills for my rebate submission, which is allowed by Rule#3; as such, it accidentally failed me to meet Rule#5. I have to say: it is the misleading information of 210 days on Rule#3 that has caused my 14 days delay in mailing the rebate. Obviously, this fault is due to the wording problem in your rebate form, not me! (Note: I guess no one would be interested in purchasing your future products if this unhappy experience with InPhonic would be known “online” to other people.)

"DO NOT GET TRAPPED!!

Like most of the people who (positively) rate the Wirefly (the company owned by Inphonic Inc wich also operates under names myrateplan.com, inphonic.com, Wirefly.com, a1wireless.com, cellphonerebates.com) the initial bying experience was good. The price (their main trap) was good and the shipment was prompt. No complaints. But then the problems began. First they (by mistake?) assign non-local numbers to 2 of my new T-Mobile Motorola V600s. It had to be corrected. The major porblem with them is the rebates they promise. You are better to buy a phone at T-mobile location than hope (as I did) to get them. The setup of the scam is the following. They ask you to send 4 separate rebates (2 Customer loyalty and 2 Customer Appreciation) and send in Separate envelopes. Then part of the rebates (2 in my case) gets "lost" despite sent in serified evelope. After you naively check with them "after 6-8 weeks" they say they have not receive smth and ask to re-submit. After you resubmit lost rebates the time frame of rebate passes and you got rejected because "Dates of submitted wireless bills do not fall within the date range specified on the rebate form." Calling, complaining, and talking to their Rebate Center is useless. I am trying to resolve the issue for almost a year at the moment. No success. If you want to risk your luck, go ahead. but before tru to read their reviews (on any of the names i provide here) or in BBB (under name Inphonic inc) at http://www.dc.bbb.org/codbrep.html?ID=23004111&wlcl=y

"I will join the chorus of people who have been ripped off by this company, whether they call themselves inphonic or some other pseudonym.

I purchased my phone through the internet site wirefly. I filed rebate forms according to the intricate procedure. The is no record of me in the internet website identified on the rebate forms. I contacted "customer service" and was told my forms were probably lost in the mail. Both of them. Even though they were mailed in separate envelopes. And nothing else has ever been lost. Gee, what are the odds? Supervisor wouldn't help and wouldn't transfer me to a manager. Wouldn't identify the company name, address or phone number and eventually hung up on me when I persisted in asking for contact information.

I clicked on the BBB logo in the www.cellphonerebates.com website and found the name of Continental Promotions Inc. in Scottsdale AZ, with >400 complaints lodged against them in the past year. I filed another complaint through the Scottsdale AZ BBB, which is pending. I complained to T-Mobile because this company represents them. T-Mobile dodged responsibility but gave me the name and a phone number at Inphonic, so I complained there as well. Turns out I was calling India. The service rep said he would "escalate" the complaint and someone would call me. After 2 weeks, nobody has. I also Emailed to Inphonic customer service and billing departments.

I received responses to my Emails to Inphonic and Continental Promotions “customer service” departments. They use the same text verbatim in parts of their responses. The forms were lost in the mail, they say. They suggest I remail, but only give a partial address. They are non-responsive when I write repeatedly asking for the full address. I remail to the address on the original form, but I want a specific person to whom I can mail for accountability. No response. They do tell me repeatedly that now it is past the deadline so the remailed forms won't be honored no matter who they go to.

Inphonic’s billing department also responded to me. This anonymous individual related that the company has a 6-10 week backlog of rebate forms to enter. I should check back after 10 weeks. A few days later, Inphonic customer service follows up by sending an Email saying the forms were lost and they "can't" help me.
