"I purchased a travel insurance policy for a cruise from Travel Insured International, including Cancel for Any Reason coverage. After a small intial deposit, the full trip cost must be paid seven months prior to the trip. The cancellation policy of the cruise line makes increasing portions of the trip cost non-refundable as the departure date approaches. For example, only $200 is non-refundalbe up until 120 days prior to departure; 20% is non-refundable bewteen 119 and 90 days, etc. I was adivised by the Insure My Trip representative that I could adjust the insured cost of the trip with each step of that cancellation calendar based on what portion of the trip cost became non-refundable; so adding 20% after the 120th day, etc. I have been advised by Travel Insured International that this is not the case. Iam required to fully insure the entire trip payment within 21 days of making the full payment to the cruise line, or I will lose the Cancel for Any Reason coverage. This is a significant piece of misinformation that would have significantly impact my policy coverage if I had relied on it. On a positive not, the Insure My Trip rep was very friendly."
