"Island Tactical is a newly opened Gun Shop, owned and operated by Veterans. They are Hometown friendly and meet or beat most Gun Prices from other stores both on and off line. Shop here and help us keep our local businesses going strong. I went there just to have a look and ended up purchasing a new handgun for concealed carry at a price I couldn't refuse. I have no affiliation with this store other than that of a Customer."
"Absolutely no problem. I am a part-time knife collector and was intrigued by the unique design of this knife. Without the color picture provided I might not have ordered this item. I was immediately notified of the shipment and how to track it once it left the store. It was shipped quickly and arrived in a timely fashion. I will buy from this seller again. "
"If you have a time-sensitive requirement for tactical products, use my experience that is described below and avoid Island Tactical (aka Island Security Store, Inc.)!
As my company's principal purchasing agent, I have participated in many transactions with organizations via their web store-fronts. I tend to approach purchase decisions cautiously, because when I make a purchase, it is often to support events or activities that will take place at a specific time. Showing up without the equipment or ammunition (but with an invoice or message showing that materials were ordered and promised in a timely manner) is not an option in these cases. We've been burned before. We were burned again today.
My cautious actions were insufficient to protect us from being caught short by Island Tactical. A summary follows:
14 Mar 2006
After reviewing a number of web-sites, and finding a 'good' deal, I called Island Tactical and described my requirement to purchase 3 GG&G Accucam mounts for the EOTech holographic sight. I told the (friendly) female representative that I was concerned about timely shipping and delivery, and for this reason, I wsa ordering by telephone, instead of from the web-site.
She acknowledged my concerns, said that she believed they had many Accucam units in stock, but that she would check, and get back to me.
Several hours later, she called back, advised me that the mounts were definitely in-stock, and if I wanted to purchase them, she'd be happy to take my order.
Happy, I went for it.
I received an invoice that evening, indicating the charge had been processed, the order had been finalized, and my three mounts would be shipped the following day, 15 May 2006. So far, so good.
17 Mar 2006 - Received notice that the order had shipped; UPS tracking information was included. The shipment was originating from Dallas, TX, which gave me a little pause ... Island Tactical is located in Las Vegas, NV. Because the scheduled delivery date met my requirement still (today, 21 Mar 2006), I did not worry about it.
21 Mar 2006
The package was dropped off with our routine UPS delivery at 1100, as expected. Life is good, I thought.
I unpacked the package at 1500. One mount was ordered and shipped. Not the three that I ordered, paid for, AND NEEDED. From the packaging, it was obvious that the item was drop-shipped to me ... from the largish wholesale distributor, "RSR Group," with whom I've worked in the past (with no problems). The only role that Island Tactical had in my purchase was collecting my money, screwing up the order, and earning my enmity.
I called Jason at Island Tactical, expressed my displeasure at having been lied to, and related my desire to return the mount that had been shipped. Jason opined that it was not a lie, rather a regretable error, and offered to 'overnight' to me the other two mounts that I paid for last week, and they committed to provide me by today (as a condition of the sale), because we NEEDED them to be here ... not somewhere else on a shelf. Further, Jason related his displeasure at my characterization of this "error" as a "lie."
Whatever.
Tomorrow (or more likely, the next day) would have been a day (or more) late -- and the proverbial dollar short -- with respect to our requirement, their commitment, and to this sale.
To Island Tactical's credit, Jason forwarded today (21 Mar 2006) the promised USPS pre-paid shipping label for my return, as well as a notice that my CC account had been credited for the amount of the two mounts that were not shipped.
(ETA) ********** 6 Apr 2006 **********
Several days after receiving the return, Island Tactical credited my CC account with the balance of the amount of money originally charged ... INCLUDING SHIPPING COSTS for the original, erroneous shipment.
This exemplary response caused me to change my assessment of my purchase from "Very Dissatisfied" to "Dissatisfied." Quite frankly, if I hadn't been burned so bad by not having the promised product in the promised time frame, I would've been happy to try these guys again.
********** (End of Edit) **********
Bottom of the line, I did everything possible to ensure that my requirements were understood by Island Tactical and allowed myself to be convinced that this sale would be successful.
If you need your product within a certain time frame, DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I DID. If you don't have an iron-clad delivery requirement, based on my experience with them 'turning back the clock' on my transaction, I'd say go for it."
