"I was happy with Kellyco's part of the transaction; the unit arrived quickly, everything was in good condition, and everything was included as advertised. The only gripe I have is the actual metal detector (Fisher F2), it worked pretty good for the first 10 times out, now it has some electronics problem, notches aren't working properly, pinpoint mode is erratic, and in normal mode it beeps erratically whether it's on the ground or two feet in the air. Sometimes turning it off and on will kind of fix it for a minute, but once it starts sensing metal in the ground... it goes crazy again. My connection is good to coil (tight), the batteries are good... it has to be something on the electronics board or a wire to it is broke or shorted... I guess I will have to return it to be fixed, but that is on me for shipping back and forth if I understand it correctly. I had a permit for this weekend and next weekend at a good historical park, so I am kinda disappointed that I can't detect it now.
I went back and forth for sometime on which entry level detector to get; the Garret Ace 250 or the Fisher F2. Did I make a mistake? Is the Garrett a more quality unit, or do they have their problems too?
I plan to step up pretty quickly to a better unit, may be even early next year, I was thinking the Garret AT Pro.. something in the $600 range, is there something better at that price range? The XP Deus looks like the top of the line unit, being wireless and so fast, but I can't afford $2000.
Anyhow, I was very satisfied with Kellyco, they did a great job on the order, the actual metal detectors short comings are the only problem I have. I will probably make the warranty call to Fisher this week.
