"I purchased a Nagamaki from Mark in October 2008, and it's a great notebook. Good price, excellent custom mods. Overall, I'm very pleased with the hardware.
Sadly, Mark has gone from being slightly hard to get in touch with (both by phone and email) at the time of my order, to utterly impossible to get in touch with a couple months later. He no longer posts on his forums (guruofgaming) nor does he answer email, and other customers have reported that getting in touch with him on the phone is extremely difficult.
My original order didn't ship with an extra power supply because they were backordered (wasn't informed of this at the time of my order). A couple months later they finally came in, but trying to get it delivered to my new address (I had moved in the meantime) was pretty frustrating, and Mark was curt in his responses to me when I pressed him for info.
Given that Mark is effectively MIA at this point, I wouldn't recommend doing business with him, and I worry that if anything goes wrong with this notebook, I'll be totally out of luck.
The notebook itself is great. My experience with KN is, sadly, unacceptable.
Edit: As of October 2009, Mark has disconnected his phone and his support website (guruofgaming) is offline. As of the time his website went down, there were a number of customers with unfulfilled orders that they'd paid for, trying to find a way to contact Mark.
Avoid at all costs."
"I purchased an Executioner, customized with dual internal 100 GB 7200 HDs setup as a stripe array (Raid 0). I love it!
I researched Dell, Alienware, Saeger Notebooks, Widow PC, and several other companies. What tipped the balance towards Killer Notebooks was the fact they have ample information posted on their website and answered any questions quickly. Their focus on quality is true.
I attempted to speak with Saeger about the components they used, but they ignored me. Alienware / Dell had serious flaws in their equipment. Alienware is trying to dump inventory of outdated hardware (and questionable cases) and still charge an arm and leg for it. Dell's nickel and diming are obscene and they don't even use the same quality parts as Killer Notebooks.
While the Dell M1705 was somewhat cheaper than the Killer Notebooks model, I did not get trash from the lowest bidder. Dell buys components from the lowest bidder and turns around and sells them with a huge mark up. You can see for yourself, just check how much they charge for a 2 GB ram UPGRADE to 4 GB (over $2000). Utterly ridiculous when premium chips would cost about 1K just for 2x 2 GB modules and this is an UPGRADE!
Ironically, I also am eligible for my companies Employee Purchasing Program, which was the only thing that even made the M1705 slightly cheaper than KN's notebook.
Topping it all off, there is a custom heat sink to keep heat out, which will further the life of the laptop. This was a major factor in deciding to go w/ KN. I don't casually dump several grand on a laptop to have it keel over 2-3 years out.
The communication has also been quick and very helpful, including topics outside the scope of the purchase itself. It was like talking to a real person instead of some "professional" sales rep. The attention to detail and quality ensure I will see a return on my investment.
The only downside is, I need to find a bigger case (because of accessories like a laptop cooler) and space for work documents. "
"I purchased an Executioner from Mark and it has been a great experience! The machine arrived in about 10 days from payment which is fine and was ready to go right out of the box. Mark has been really nice to deal with in answering all my questions by email or phone.
The computer is unbelievable in looks and performance. I would definately do business again with Mark and would highly recommend Killer Notebooks to anyone wanting a high end quality notebook. Great experience!"
"Over countless emails, Mark helped me make sure that I was getting exactly what I wanted.
My Wakazachi arrived quickly and what an amazing machine it was. I would carelessly forget to close games that would usually bring my system to a halt, and I wouldn't notice for hours because the performance never dropped a bit.
Sadly, I ran into some financial troubles a few months later, and the only thing I had that was valuable enough to save me was my beloved notebook.
Two and a half months after my initial purchase, Mark let me return the Wakazachi with only a small restock fee, which I would in turn be able to put toward another purchase from him in the future (which I plan on as soon as I get back on my feet!)
Killer Notebooks has amazing products and stellar customer service. I'm sure that any other company would have turned me away without giving it a second thought. I'm so glad I dealt with KN."

"Working with Mark at KN was a great experience. He helped me configure exactly what I wanted and delivered a high quality custom built laptop.
I am very pleased with my Executioner.
I will be a repeat customer without a doubt."
"This is a fantastic store. Emails answered within hours for the most part (weekends included). My laptop was put together and shipped within days. Great quality. Appreciate all of the support. Definitely not pushy like some of the other vendors. Would easily buy from again."
