"I bought a hard to find brand new Colt Gold Cup Trophy .45 ACP from Kyle online early Saturday morning based on his web site claim that "All Guns in Stock Unlike the Other Guys" and the gun's description as "Available". The transaction went through, my bank account was charged and I received a sales invoice from his store. Later that morning, that very gun, that I had already paid Kyle for and for which he'd given me a receipt (in my book, that meant it was mine so long as the transfer paperwork went through), was apparently sold by him at a gun show. Okay, stuff like that happens and one moves on, real disappointed perhaps but satisfied with a short apology from the dealer and perhaps an offer to find a another quality gun like it. But, that's not how things went down.
When I called on Monday to speak to Kyle about shipment, he curtly announced "I sold that gun at a gun show," and when I asked whether he had any similar quality .45 ACP in stock, curtly replied No" and hung up on me. Now, I will admit I was upset and disappointed that the gun had been sold to someone else this way, BUT, I didn't shout or use offensive language or show him any discourtesy. My mother and father didn't raise me that way, nor did Army Warrant Officer School, Columbia College or Harvard Law. A few minutes later, I called Kyle back to suggest that he should have marked the gun as unavailable if he was going to offer it at a gun show, or posted a warning on his site of that possibility, or provide a mobile number so a customer could check with him in circumstances like that before charging the purchase. The only words I got out were "Hi, I'm the fellow who tried to buy that Colt Gold Cup on Saturday. I have a suggestion to make." (again, NO shouting, no abuse), when he cut me off, saying, "I don't want to hear it and don't call back" and slammed the phone down yet again.
Frankly, Kyle's attitude was rude and abusive. I am now out $1,049 until the refund he that he claims he processed (instead of a faster void) hits my bank, maybe in 3 to 5 days. Thanks for nothing Kyle. A simple "I'm sorry about that Geoff" would have been nice, the least you could have done for someone whose only mistake was trying to become one of your customers.
Response to Kyle's reply: Kyle knows that my post was 100% accurate in every detail.
He got short with me the SECOND time I phoned him, just 5 minutes after the first call, and he cut me off and hung up on me. I never called again.
I would not be surprised if the reason he was short with me and so rude was that he knew that it was wrong to sell the gun that way and was embarrassed. At least that puts him light years ahead of the many people who would not have felt a qualm about what they'd done.
'Nuff said. As far as I'm concerned this matter is closed.
