"I ordered $200 of jamon for a party for Spanish visitors. When I ordered I selected extra shipping costs to get the product delivered on the day of the party. When I got the shipping confirmation the next day it had a delivery date after the party. I called LaTienda and they told me, do not worry, it is scheduled to be delivered on the day you selected, pay no attention to what UPS says it will be updated later. You will have your order in time. Well here I am two days after the party and the item just arrived. I cannot use it as I do not eat meat and have no use for it now. $200 wasted. I called - they were closed - and wrote to LaTienda and no reply.

"I have been ordering from La Tienda for years, but lately, I have been disappointed by the high costs and quality of the food. I ordered a few items on Monday and I was told I had to pay the two-day shipping of $46.00 as one of my orders was perishable. I was assured my order would arrive on Wednesday, but I got a notification from UPS that it was arriving on Thursday, the day my company arrives. I called customer service and explained the situation and I was told my high cost for shipping was to allow a two-day arrival of the croquettes. I explained that Monday to Thursday is not two-day shipping, but the representative could offer no remedy for this. I'm stuck with a $150.00 cost for three orders of croquettes, one terron, and two small jars of aioli, all arriving too late for my luncheon. "
"I recently had a terrible experience with La Tienda de Cigarros, located in Madrid, Spain. I wanted to purchase a box of Montecristo Especiale #2, which they advertised for $395.
Their website stated that all shipments are guaranteed delivery with free shipping over $200. Initially, I tried purchasing it via Paypal, but they could figure out how to properly processed the transaction and returned the funds to me. Then I tried to purchase with a credit card, but their credit card ordering system wasn't working so I had to send it manually, making arrangements with my credit card company to ensure they didn't reject the transaction for possible fraud.
They shipped the box before the transaction was finalized via a spanish courier called EMISARIOS MAIL SERVICE (I did a google search and they do not come up with any results other then their website). After 4 weeks in transit, the courier emailed me that they are holding the box until I pay insurance, which would be approximately $100. I told the vendor about this and they said they are not responsible for insurance. I told the courier I will not accept the package because of the additional cost and to return it. The Courier said that if I don't pay the insurance, the package would be turned over to customs for destruction. I said do what you have to do.
With every other cigar vendor I dealt with, if there were any costs (other then custom duty fees), they were paid upfront as part of the purchase. I informed the vendor to take the cigars back as their advertising regarding shipping was misleading. They declined and threaten to take me to "court". Once I heard that, I filed a credit card dispute. They had since sent me threatening emails to take legal actions if I didn't withdraw the dispute.
I highly do not recommend this company as they apparently do not know how to do business online with the USA, nor have an understanding of how to handle transactions. have already received my funds back conditionally via this dispute and hope this will be finalized with no further interaction with this vendor."
"I paid for Christmas delivery which was guaranteed. The website said Order received should arrive Dec 23rd. Ha!
Still hasn’t even shipped and it is Christmas. Customer service is closed until Dec 28th! What a joke this place is

"La Tienda is really over price when you compare their product with some of their competitors. No worth it, try elsewhere there are other available options with similar quality and larger amounts for the same price or more adequate pricing. "
"I've returned my order and La Tienda received it back in April 6th. But I still didn't get refund. I've tried to communicate to Customer Support calling by phone and sending emails. Didn't get any response to emails. Was all the time disconnected in the middle of call. So, have to call to my credit card company instead. Very bad experience!"
"Just before Christmas 2019, I received a beautiful gift basket of gourmet foods. A La Tienda ham/nut/cheese gift pack was included in my gift from my friend. In January, right after New Years Day, I opened the La Tienda sample pack to try everything. IT was at a that time that I could see little bumps growing on the ham. I'm a food safety officer, so I knew right away what that was- listeria bacteria. I was very surprised as the vacuum seal appeared to be intact, the box was shipped with ice blocks (plus it was rather cold outside) and the expiration date stamped on the packet was April 2020. I had to throw away the whole thing for fear of getting food poisoning/ food-bourne illness from the spoiled meat contaminating the other items in the pack. What a waste. What a shame.
In my experience, this probably happened because the ham had not been stored at the proper cold temperatures while in La Tienda's possession.
Here's the real problem, though, I tried to leave an unfavorable review for the product on La Tienda's website - TWICE- and both times, the review didn't show up. Apparently, La Tienda only accepts glowing reviews to be publicly posted on their site! Also, I contacted them about the matter and they never got back to me. I wonder if they will respond once I contact the FDA. "
"I've been shopping online at La Tienda for several years. I placed a large order and entered the wrong promo code. Called customer service for an adjustment and I was told no way could they adjust the cost or cancel my order and reorder with the correct promo code. Total BS! The man's arrogance was astounding! La Tienda is forgetting there are other places to shop! NEVER AGAIN!"
"I have been buying from La Tienda for years. Bought the paleta bone-in ham and received it on Wednesday. On that Saturday, the ham was gone. Was only able to make 4 sandwiches, as the ham was dry and of poor quality. It was more bone than ham. Contacted customer service and sent pictures, was told that the ham had a perfect color. However, it was all black on the outside and dry on the inside. It wasn't ham, it was a bone paleta. It is complete RIPOFF!! Do not buy from La Tienda. Customer service is awful!!! I even offered to pay for half a ham and they didn't care. Should be out of business."

Then more than 10 days later, emailed again to check status, no response. Called again, saying will process the same day. Now again 8 days passed, no refund. It is more than 3 weeks!

"Terrible customer service. La Tienda choses the delivery system, and makes you pay..but you are on your own after that. If the package does not arrive..is not their fault. I sent a package to my daughter, the package never arrived. Called La Tienda's Customer Service and was told that since according to UPS the packaged was delivered, it was my problem that the packaged never arrived. Called UPS and they will investigate since the delivery was 'driver verified', meaning the driver said the package was delivered, but we don't know if it was left at the correct address. Never had an experience like that with a retailer. I have sent an email to their Customer Service, and had no reply..I considered myself a customer, would place orders several times a year. But now that I know that if there is a problem I am on my onw, I cannot afford to buy from them again. Very bad experience. "
"It seemed to start well. I spoke with customer service who said she'd email me a RMA number. She never did so I had to call again to get that number. Then I returned my items by USPS and after 13 days my account has still not been credited with a refund. So today I called customer service to find what's going on. She said she'd take care of it. "I visited La Tienda in Carlsbad New Mexico today, and had a very rude cashier, who made very rude comments and had a very hateful attitude. Another cashier tried helping us but that only made the cashier who was “helping us” more snotty. As a customer and human being, I abide by the Golden Rule, and expect manners or some sort of respect or graciousness or politeness from a place I patronized quite happily. The cashier was a snot and actually called me (or my daughter, as she was with me at the time) ugly and I really wanted to pull the attitudinally handicapped youngster across the conveyer belt and teach her some manners and it’s not the point that she wouldn’t use my four dollars in coupons that the other cashier told her should be applied but my unwilling cashier wouldn’t do it— it’s how unnecessary rude and hateful she and the bagger and the trainee was toward me and my daughter that irritated me so much. And of course, she also snidely invited me to talk to her managers about it, which I will indeed be doing. "
"In the past month I have placed two orders with La Tienda, a company selling Spanish foods/products. Both times my order, containing both perishable and fragile items, arrived quickly (within 3 days) and was well packed with perishable items contained in a cold wrapper with ice packs. The meat, cheese, olive, and chocolate items were all fresh and delicious. The ceramic dish I purchased was as pictured online and was well packed and arrived intact. So far this company has been excellent and I expect I will continue to purchase from them in the future."
