"I own a video production company and I am trying to make the jump to HD. I ordered a Canon XL-H1 and a Canon XH-G1 from Lenses N More because of price. I received an email asking me to call and confirm the order. When I called they asked for the 3 digit security number on the card. Before giving them this information I asked to confirm the contents of what I had ordered to confirm that I was getting what I ordered and confirm that I wasn't phished. The "Customer Service" rep replied that I was getting the XL-H1 and the XH-G1. When I pressed for the details about the package contents, i.e., lenses, batteries, cables and changers I was again asked for the security code. I expressed concern about some of the reports I had heard and the CSR told me he would cancel the order and I could order the camera's from someone I could trust. I immediately received an e-mail stating that the products were out of stock and my order was cancelled."
"This is a bait-and-switch scam store. They do not ship at the prices listed on their web site. I tried ordering a Nikon D80 and had to call their customer service to "confirm" the order. They tried to sell me an overpriced battery and charger, and when that didn't work, they told me the model I had ordered was Japanese. I told them I didn't care and they should go ahead with the order, and they hung up on me and cancelled it."
"Do not ever deal with this company! It was the worst on-line buying experience I have ever had. I was overcharged $360 and could not get a satisfactory explanation of the reason. One reason was that the Sony HDR11 did not come with any way to charge the battery so they included a charger for $200. Ridiculous!!! All US boxed versions, which I purchased, come with a charger! I did not get all of the products that I ordered. I called this company 4 times to complain and they said that they would send a 2X telephoto lens to compensate but of course I never received it. The extra battery I ordered for $100 was not the Sony battery but a horrid no-name brand with a cord that had to be plugged in to the camera to get it to work. That same battery sold on ebay for $10. I was almost tempted to send the whole package back but I would have been out the 15% restocking + $100 shipping + return shipping for a total of at least $350. I was ripped off and not happy with this company! They are very dishonest. You will not save money but you will pay more for inferior items if you even get everything that you ordered. "
"SCAM ARTISTS!!
I ordered a Canon 5D and lens package from this store (AKA: One Way Photo, and several other names) because of the low price. The store contacted me to "verify" my order and then informed me I was ordering the "plastic-body 5D" and asked if I wanted to upgrade to the magnesium-bodied model (for TWICE the price). ** CANON DOES NOT MAKE A PLASTIC-BODY 5D ** and the "upgrade" was not even competitive with current retail pricing for a USA-model 5D ($200 more the B&H Photo).
Luckily I forgot to give the security code on the back of my card, so they couldn't charge me...otherwise I'd be contacting my CC company to alert fraudulent activity.
Look, nuff said...this place is a Den of Theives. AVOID"
"I got a total scam job from this company. I placed an order online for a Canon 10-22mm lens and Canon 430EX flash and talked with a sales agent to confirm that there would be no shipping charge. He said the charge would be removed when they "confirmed the order by phone." I called "order confirmation" and got a total runaround to increase the cost of my purchase. I was told that the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens that I ordered was only for a film camera, and that I would have to pay nearly $200 more for the digital version. I was told that the Canon 430EX flash that I ordered would not work with the Canon Digital Rebel XT and that I would have to pay more for a different flash that would work with it. I cancelled the order. When I called the next day after confirming from their web site that the price was advertised for the lens that is used with Canon digital cameras, I was told by a different salesperson that that lens had a plastic ring and would break within a month and that I should order the lens with the metal ring that would be more reliable and also work with the 40D. I confirmed that I wanted to cancel my order and he said he would take care of it. I'm now concerned that they have my credit card number."
"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE unless you enjoy being ripped off. Lenses N More (should be Less) actually took the VR lens out of the Nikon VR kit they sold me and substituted a less expensive not to mention used (scratched) lens. Their solution: cancel the order with a 15% restocking fee! Needless to say, this is in dispute with VISA. Your best bet, go with a reputable firm like B and H, Abe's etc. I have never had any problem at all with them."
"Do not buy from this company. Also, like others have mentioned, this is the same company as 1 Way Photo.
"Bait and Switch", exactly what others have mentioned.
Again, "DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY", YOU WILL BE SCREWED. Exactly the corrupt tactics used on the previous buyer were used on me. HEED MY WARNING!!!"
"WARNING!!!! Ordered a canon 5D and Vertical battery pack and was later contacted saying that I had ordered a Japanese version and wanted to upgrade the order to the USA version. I accepted and then received the order that was $500 overpriced and did not even receive the Canon vertical battery grip. tried to call and they said Oh well, unless I wanted to eat the 15% restocking fee. Wouldn't even give me the return # to send the order back. warning to others, don't buy from these fraudulant sellers."
"Looks like I got duped. I was upgraded/downgraded apparantly with a cheaper lens. Also, I didn't receive the rapid charger kit that I paid for...just the normal charger for the Canon 40D. Was charged $199.99 for "FREE shipping" Lenses n More is also One Way Photo. Check out One Way Photo...you'll understand.
"
"DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!!!!was quoted $579 for nikon 18-200 vr.after calling back to confirm order, was told "you got the old lens-you want the new lense without the plastic lens mount"(which does not exist)for $100 more(FAST TALKERS).Free shipping turned into a $39 FEE. paid $120 more than I could have gotten from B&H or any good store.Shipped with no packing-just thrown in box loose.BEWARE!!!!"
"This is a bait and switch operation. They lure you in with super cheap prices and then they pressure you into buying overpriced accessories. The accessories are marked up 200%. They tried to sell me a battery and charger for the Canon EOS 40D for $300 when I found them both somewhere else for $50. When you decline all the extra stuff they tell you your item is on backorder, unless you buy the extra stuff in which case they can ship it right away!!! On top of this scam you have some very rude people that treat you like an idiot, which they hope you are. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM OPERATION."
"This site is a scam! On January 7, I ordered a Nikon D40X body and a Nikon 18-200 VR Lens at a price about $150 below the best other online source. The next day, I got a call requsting my credit card's security code. I got a hard sell for a battery charger for the D40x, and an upgrade to a later model of the Nikon lens (which I have never seen mentioned in any review). When I declined all upgrades, I got an email stating the item was on backorder and would arrive in 3-4 weeks. After 3 weeks, I called, and they said it would be available almost any day. After 5 weeks, I called, and they said it would be another 3-4 weeks. At that point, I cancelled the order after reminding the caller that I was recording the call. I did get an email confirming the cancellation. "
"Blatant bait and switch operation.
I wish I had read the previous review before ordering from this company. I found a great deal on a Nikon Zoom 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR Autofocus Lens.
I received an email to call to verify my information, "for my security". When I called, I was informed of the plastic ring, and was offered the opportunity to upgrade to the metal version, which I declined. I was offered filters for purchase, I declined. He was forceful in trying to convince me of that I needed the more expensive metal version, which he mentioned was not mentioned in the website. When I declined all the upgrade offers he, he asked for my credit card security code, which I gave him, and he thanked me for my purchase.
Immediately after I hung up, I received an email from Lenses N More telling me that the lens was back ordered for 3-4 weeks. I got back on the phone and told them to cancel the order.
I received an confirmation email telling me that they would inform me when the item was back in stock.
I'm not taking any chances. I've informed my credit card company to cancel the card and issue a new number. "
"Make sure you are dealing with reputable stores! I was scammed into believing there was a new version of the Nikon lens I was buying and agreed to an upgrade of both the lense and filter. They sold me the advertised lens for $120 more than it was listed and a $49 listed filter for $99. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is! I chalk this up to being a dumb consumer! Do not trust these scammers and stay with the reputable sellers!"
""Lenses N' More" seems to be the new name for Express Cameras (search for them, you'll see). Either that, or Lenses N' More is using the EXACT same scam.
Ordered the Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS USM last Friday, at $1189 with free shipping. On SUNDAY I get a call, "we need your CVVM number". I didn't think much of it, gave it to him.
Then he started talking about how Canon makes a "plastic mount" and "metal mount" version and this is the plastic mount one that "WILL BREAK". He wanted to upsell to a $2500 "metal mount" version of the same lens.
I was driving so I told him to hold the order (I had spent 3 hours researching this awesome lens with NO mention ANYWHERE of any problems)... called my friend who works at Norman Camera and he said, "oh yeah that's a scam".
I guess either they talk you into buying a "Sigma" lens that usually sells for $450, but you pay $1250... either that or they end up sending you a grey market lens.
Luckily they haven't charged anything yet, so I ended up cancelling my credit card (what a PITA, have to wait 10 days to get a new one).
Stay away from this company!
UPDATE: 11/21 10:15am PST: Just got off the phone to explain to him that I wanted to cancel the order. He said, "great I'll just charge you for the cancellation fee". I told him good luck since I cancelled my card. He said, "fine so I'll send you to collections and sue you". Laughable.
These guys are real creeps, obviously stay away."
