"Horrible company. Tried to purchase for the whole family since others either cant use the computer or dont have credit cards. 7 people in total for a white water rafing trip. Half the orders were cancelled because one person can only buy one.. but 4 were left as purchases somehow. It was a nightmaee to try and call to explain what i was trying to do. I ended up cancelling the remaining 4, becauo the company woukd rather so have 0 sales than 7. Horrible experience, bad customer service. Stupid policies are only applied randomly. Stay away. Go with Griupon instead. Sorry about the typos.. cell phone buttons and finger size dont match."

"Just thought I'd pass along my bad experience with Living Social vouchers.
I bought window washing services and scheduled an appointment.
The guy was a no show. I've tried to
contact him with at least 20 phone calls, emails and his website but
he does not respond. I contacted Living Social by email, and after a couple of
weeks of vague or no response from them, they said they could not credit my American
Express. They offered to give me a voucher for the $50 I spent. I really want
nothing to do with their vouchers again.

Realizing there are others who probably went through the same experience as I did, I Googled reviews on Living Social and was shocked to find out what others are saying.
Seems many people have had this same problem and worse.

"Not customer friendly!!
Living Social doesn't make any attempt to help the purchaser with a problem with the merchant. They are not upstanding in their business practices and only parrot what the policy states on the coupon.
Would not recommend this service to anyone!!!!!

"THEY DO NOT GIVE CREDIT OR REFUNDS
Purchased voucher for kayak tour but unable to use voucher due to physical injury. When requesting refund or credit, was told to read their refund policy. After appealing, was told to sell the coupon or give it away. Their uneducated and ignorant customer "service" only serves me to give my business to GROUPON, who always honor their customers' requests.

"Living Social over sell all there deals, so when you go to book in your appointment they are completely booked out & you can’t use the deal before the deadline.

Spoke to customer service and they advised that is not their fault as fine print states that "appointments are required & subject to availability" meaning that they oversold the deal and had no intension of honouring deal

I would not recommend living social to anyone as all they will do is cost you money, waste your time & give you head ach

"I've only used LivingSocial once...in four words "spectacularly poor customer service". I e-mailed to ask what I was supposed to do if the merchant was unable to offer a convenient date before the voucher expired and never received a reply. I phoned up two weeks later and waited an age to speak to anyone. The operator refused to apologise for LivingSocial's lack of communication, blamed me for not calling them sooner and told me that they would not do anything to help. If the voucher expired, it was my fault for not reading the terms and conditions. I e-mailed LivingSocial again and explained that if they had originally replied within 48 hours, as their automated e-mail suggested they would, I may have been able to arrange a suitable (albeit inconvenient) date with the merchant but now that I only had 10 days before the voucher expired, there were no available slots left at all. This time I got a response which was outright rude. I was belittled and told once again that LivingSocial would not help in anyway. They also refused to acknowledge the fact that they hadn't replied to my first e-mail. All in all I've been hugely disappointed with their behaviour. I'm just annoyed that I didn't do any research on the company before creating my account. A simple Google search reveals almost unanimously poor feedback from merchants and customers alike. Avoid at all costs."

"I am absolutely disgusted with the Living Social team. I have bought many vouchers with Groupon & any issues that I have had have been sorted out very well. I made a big error of judgement thinking that Living Social would be the same!

In my experience of using Groupon any exclusions on dates/times/extra charges are clearly stated on the deal and if they are not then the assumption is that there are no restrictions. I've now bought 3 deals from Living Social and had problems with each of them:

1) I purchased 2 vouchers for a racing day with no exclusions on days - I've now called the merchant 6 times & been told that they only have Wed bookings and LS 8 times in which they have told me consistently that their team have checked with the merchant & that they've opened up weekend bookings. It has been a case of back & forward for weeks - they finally informed me yesterday that the merchant does not have any availability on weekends anymore and that they're not responsible for lack of availability!!! We cannot make a Wed booking and I am strongly disputing this case for not including vital details of the deal. They are are basically washing their hands on the matter saying that it's not their responsibility if the merchant gives them the wrong information and every voucher is only subject to availability. They said that they only offer refunds within 7 days of purchase but will not accept responsibility even though if they have given me the correct info initially then I would have cancelled within 7 days.

2) This deal included a make up bag in the make up day, which was never received. LS did not bother responding to my emails or complaints.

3) I purchased an MOT and 104point service with no exclusions/extra charges - upon picking my car up I was charged almost £100 extra for parts that were needed for the service!!! This should most definitely have been in the fine print of the voucher. Again, LS were not interested and simply responded with "Solution Details: Thanks for sharing your feedback with us at LivingSocial. Unlike those utterly unfunny forwards your aunt sends, we actually read every email that comes our way."

I really would not be suprised if LS went out of business soon - they need to learn that customers come first & they need to take responsibility for not including vital details on their vouchers. It is simply not acceptable to lay on responsibility on the merchant for everything. After these experiences and the lack of understanding by the customer services team, or availability of anyone higher up in the chain to speak to, I will NEVER purchase anything from these cowboys again. I urge you all to do the same because if anything goes wrong with the booking/using of your voucher then you'll be on your own and out of pocket.

"I am a regular user of KGB and Groupon and have also bought a few vouchers from Living Social. All well and good till I had a problem making a booking for two people with a Living Social Seller because of the peculiar and limited nature of the sellers Courses. After 6 months trying the Seller has amicably agreed that it won't work and Living Social should issue a refund. No big deal until LS Customer service get involved, they don't reply to e-mails (other than automated response), they give conflicting advice and they refuse to let you speak to anyone in authority at the call centre. They have made a meal of a very simple issue, wasted inordinate amounts of everybody's time and alienated a good customer. Don't get involved with them."

"I have been a merchant for Livingsocial.
which means i put a deal out on their website. this has got to be the biggest mistake of my life. My business has nearly gone bust thanks to them. I get fake phone calls from their customer service team (the ring my phone and hang up for no reason at all) my offer was valid for 6 month and the expiry date has been and gone i am still redeeming clients for another 4 month after expiry date apparently this is not acceptable to them and i need to refund everyone!! total joke they are. i would stay well clear from them. Plus the money i walked away with gave me an average wage of £3.00 per hour! so far it has took up 200 hours of my time and they expect me to repay that!!!! i hate them with a very big passion they have made my life a misery.

"I NEVER take the time to write reviews, so that should go to show you how AWFUL Living Social is. I purchased a deal for an adventure race in September that also included a hot dog, chips, and a drink with your race entry. When I showed up at the event(which I thought was a great deal at 20 bucks for entry and food), they were charging 10 dollars for parking(something that was stated NOWHERE on the website or voucher.) When we went to pick up our race numbers, they were out of safety pins, but were telling people they had to wear the bibs to participate. (I will skip over that since most of those problems are with the race and NOT with living social) After we finished the race we stood around waiting for them to give us our food. We were told that they had just run out of hot dogs and someone would be back soon with more to cook. We waited for an hour and a half without them saying a word to us about it. People who were finishing the race kept going up to them and they would give them the same spiel. My friend got upset and went and mentioned to them that we had been waiting for over an hour and no one had brought back any food. It was hot and we were tired and they weren't letting people get any extra water as they waited without paying for it.(Even though people wouldn't have had to wait if they had been prepared.) It was only after my friend said something to them that the woman in charge even made an attempt to make things right. She told everyone to write down their name and email address and a 15 dollar credit would be applied to their account. I was expecting to receive an email once the credit was in my account, but it wasn't until I decided(foolishly) to purchase another deal, this time for a Mediterranean cooking class, that the credit was applied. They never let me know until I went to purchase another item. The cooking class turned out to be yet another bad deal as I called several times trying to get information on times and everything from them. After about 4 months(of the 6 month time frame for the deal) without a response, I finally got a hold of the woman who told me that the class was only on Tuesday evenings(NOT Sunday and Tuesdays, like the deal said) and they only had one time slot open. I work evenings and so a Tuesday night class would not work, which is the reason I was looking forward to the Sunday evenings. I emailed Living Social about my dissatisfaction and felt that it was within the realm of their refund policy(the merchant did not hold up their end of the deal). They told me I was too late for a refund and could instead receive a credit back in Living Social bucks. I was frustrated, but I decided to accept the offer, since otherwise I would be out 80 bucks. I then decided to purchase various online shopping excursions to expedite the end of my arrangement with Living Social. After using all but 5 dollars of my credit, I was infuriated to find that they would not activate my deals until all of the credit has been used. After I found a deal worth my time, I began the process of attempting to redeem my vouchers. Each deal that I received was crawling with fine print. A certain website you had to use, a code you had to input before, and some still were not accepting my code(even though they were now active). I am so very frustrated by the lack of customer service and inattentiveness as shown by the team of living social. I will never use this service again and will make sure everyone knows how unresponsive they are to complaints."

"I have purchased several items from this site and have had no issues until I let a voucher expire. I made a bad assumption that Living Social would have the same policy as Groupon, which is that if a offer expires it will be credited back to be used for future Groupon Deals. Living Social policy does not address Credits, only Refunds. The voucher dollar value is still good with the merchant but only at the full price meaning you now have to pay full price rather than 1/2 for the same product. I called Living Social and they re-iterated that their policy is clear on Refunds/Credits - but it states nothing with respect to credits. "

"Livingsocial customer service is awful. They have the rudest people working there, their job is to intimidate you so that you won't fight for your money back. They remind me of travel insurance claims customer service personnel, both have the same tone and yelling on the phone when they talk to you, because their task is to intimidate the customer and make the customer feel bad about asking for refund. I'm NEVER purchasing another living social deal again. Also, unlike Groupon, their website does not have an option to view expired vouchers...if a voucher is expired, it will automatically disappear from your list, unless you go into purchase history and search for it through all your purchases individually. I have bought many vouchers in the last 6 months from livingsocial, BIG mistake. Well I've learned my lesson, I will not be purchasing another one again."
