"My first PC was a Tandy1000 HD with DOS. 1987. My Favorite Bible software was Parsons Quickverse. Logos is LOADED. Any number of Bibles and religion based books. 100s! Good luck trying to use them in a cohesive way. NOT EVEN A BACK ARROW! when I brought something up I didn't want. If it is there hidden among the rest of the dozens of icons, I have yet to find it.
Not intuitive at all. I have had Logos for several years and have never been able to make sense of it. Tools on top of tools on top of tools. I just want to do a simple bible study. Find scripture. Compare original texts with interlinear. Maybe compare with a translation or two and possibly look at Commentary. But trying a search is like opening the Hen House in the morning after sleeping in. What I want might be there. Somewhere. And if I could just bring it back.
I recently tried watching the videos. First one had too much to absorb at one go through and I was a bit distracted. Can't even find it now. If I had plenty of time, I could probably figure it out. I can set up and livestream our church services simultaneously on 3 sites in about 5 minutes. It took several hours to figure it out to make it a simple procedure. I assume there are folks who can just breeze through Logos and get what they want.
I have a large study I am attempting to put together. I want to copy and paste my entire references on a text page rather than a scriptural reference. Looks like I am going to to visit Biblehub instead.
I Got this at least 5 years ago after finding out Quickverse was no more and unsupported by current operating systems. "
"If you are looking for Jesus and a Holy life, Logos is not the place one needs to go. The Bible can be gotten for free via websites or free software, and choices, not how much money one spends, gets one closer to God's Will. No matter what money one spends, simply reading the Bible itself and trusting in Jesus, no commentary except going to Church and following good example from fellow Christians, using the internet as necessary for hard sayings, and doing good works of faith while straying from sin (obedience is better than sacrifice - 1 Samuel 15:22) are all that count.
I say these things from a position of someone who went totally out of his mind buying ogles of stuff for their software from them, not needing this stuff in the least but doing so only out of a spending addiction. Read that last statement, and ask if that sounds like something a Christian of sound mind would do. No, this is from a spirit of addiction. Do I really need the best of the latest and greatest because I crave it? Does the non-seminary Christian even need Logos at all? They do offer a free version which seems pretty good compared to what's out there for free, though. By no fault of Logos I went way overboard, when I would have done just fine with an internet Bible and a public domain commentary (E.g. Matthew Henry) on the internet. I can vouch that you definitely get what you pay for, but only if you need it.
The more content to your library, the more powerful the software gets, and that has been getting better with each passing version - but powerful how? Logos is a comprehensive research tool, primarily for understanding the Bible, both in its translations and original languages, with how it marks up the bible text with information, with how its tools/features process requests, and with how it links other resources to passages, verses, and words in the Bible. You can search the Bible, compare Bible versions side-by-side, comb through search results and find commentaries explaining things from varieties of angles, disciplines/methods, and denominations and eras of thought, find information on Biblical topics, etc. or just read the resources one wants - Logos isn't forced to have a strictly Bible-centered workflow like other Bible software. Being a non-seminary Christian, I probably use less than 1% of the software's capabilities given how much I've invested into it, and the free version seems plenty functional with its features.
All this may increase theological knowledge and improve one's professional, teaching, and sermon skills if involved in ministry, but it is up to the individual to make better choices and live a more godly life - money will not get one there and is not necessary. Anyone can become subject to a spending addiction or expensive but unproductive hobby of some kind (the Bible warns against being mastered by anything), and even Logos can become an addiction if one buys in excess and doesn't need. Again, wonderful software if one needs it, but a lot of people here seem to complain about buying too much, regretting it, and leaving bad reviews. I may be in that camp, but personally I feel that would be extremely unfair to Logos because their product if excellent and I don't blame their effective marketing for my spending addiction."
"The product is ok, but they are none stop marketing you. I have to block they email and turn internet of on the product to stop getting there "offers""
"Extremely disappointed. Deceptive marketing practices. Felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman when I purchased. Customer service is terrible. Definitely not worth the money. Very VERY slow software.
I have Wordsearch10 and am very disappointed in my purchase of Logos."
"Reference Customer IDQ3957843
The customer service that I receive was terrible. Explanation terrible. The system that you have is not consistent in pricing and wont reflect exact detail information.
In sales the person has knowledge but system those not reflect correct information to sales person to explain the sales.
Last year the person that helped me was more knowledge of the system and gave me correct input.
The system this year did not reflect this, It has glitches. Changes prices all the time and this is confusing and if I add the application for student the system don't reflect and have a explanation.
And if I add the the person that was helping me can't understand the system. What is cost and what is the discount, and how to divide in two payments. This brings wrong output to the person that is the buyer of the software.
Last year I received a detail of what was all."
"After losing all of my sermonic resources in a fire at our church, I've found Logos software to be a superior product to "hard copy" reference materials. It is much quicker and easier to do sermonic and biblical research using Logos' resources. I can easily do cross-referenced research on one screen.
Two caveats:
I have not and will never buy the "packages" offered by Logos. There is so much extraneous material in the packages that much of it is not really valuable. I will only buy specific resources that I know I will use.
Also, I wonder what would happen if Logos ever went out of business or was sold to another company? Would that then make my resources unavailable? (Much of Logos' functionality can be utilized off line, but not all of it)."
"After over two years, I still have extreme buyer's remorse for purchasing a package that is too big; one that I will never scratch the surface to use half of the public domain content and fluff included with a $1200 (with academic discount) package. Please, if you are starting out with Bible software, and considering Logos, I would highly encourage you to buy a small package and grow into it so that you can figure out for yourself what you want next."
"I have been a very satisfied customer since March 2010! Everyone I have ever spoken with at Logos has been very helpful! Also, the training by mpseminars is over the top excellent!"
"Logos bible softwrare gives fantastice opportunity to have access to hundreds of books and articles that link with bibles and commentaries. It has a good array of original language books that assist greatly with study at higher levels. The I-phone app is also great, for reading the bible in all situations."
"SIMPLY THE GREATEST BIBLICAL SOFTWARE TOOL EVER... "
"I have been using Logos 4 for over a year and it is the best platform I have used for bible study and research. The reason for this is that it searches ALL the resources that you have instead of just the Bibles in your data base. Also, any form of search can be used - word, topic, verse, name, etc. will work. Have the opportunity it purchase unpublished documents (books, Bible, commentaries)at very low prices as a member of the finance "team" for the document."
"I absolutely love Logos Bible Software. It has made all the difference in my ability to research effectively for my sermons. Given the vast number of resources at my fingertips I save hours and hours of time in contrast to researching in a library. Thank you Logos! "
"I absolutely love it; always have and always will, especially with the Logos4 upgrade, and the package upgrade specials!"
"I love logos Bible software due to the different packages and upgrades available. I no longer have to have several books open to study the Bible the way I want. There is also different ways to get answers to any questions about the software. In my opinion, there is no better Bible software."
"I have faithfully used Logos Bible Software for several years now and have tried and researched a few others along the way. Nothing even comes close to matching the resource content, expansion capability and user interface of the Logos software. As a bi-vocational pastor, I have to come to deeply appreciate the convenience of having a complete and easily accessible mobile library that's equipped with the tools that I need, and tailored with the ones that I want {such as the upgrade and books I just purchased}. This has saved me an enormous amount of space in my small home, and also an incalculable amount of time in my research, study and preparation for ministry. Logos has made it very convenient to purchase, upgrade and expand with easy payment plans and discounts that make owning Logos Bible Software very sensible and affordable on almost any budget. Because of what the Logos Bible Software has done for me and can do for others, I have and will continue to promote it more that any other resource for ministers and students of God's Word."
