"I placed an order for the perfect mailbox here, and it exceeded my expectations. I wasn't able to see it in any store (it was exclusive to their site), so I couldn't tell the quality until it arrived. I'm very happy with the mailbox, it is beautiful. Loved that I didn't have to pay for shipping, and that they didn't undercut by using a slow service. The mailbox arrived really fast, and it looks so so so good! I do wish there were more accessories to go with it, because I think it would look good with a flower box on the back like some of the other mailboxes have. But overall I love it."
"Terrible customer relations. I ordered the mailbox and post and lettering as well as a mail box, for over 600.00. I expected a high quality product to put in front of our house. The post is made out of plastic, is over 5 feet tall and looks ridiculous. the letters are thin, cheap metal. When I tried to return it, they would not take it back. I made many phone calls, and finally someone agreed to take it back. They charged me shipping both ways (initially free shipping) as well as a restocking fee, and agreed to only credit me for $100. I would never do business with this company again, although frankly, I don't think they will be in business long. There was no confirmation of receipt of payment, no confirmation of delivery, poor quality products that were horribly overpriced, and a terrible return policy."
"I have very mixed feelings about Mailboxixchange. I ordered a mailbox and house numbers on April 17th. My credit card was charged for the full price of the purchase at that time. Other than a confirmation email letting me know that the order had been placed, I received no further correspondence from the company, which began to make me uncomfortable when a few days passed and I hadn't received any sort of shipping notice.
The company was good about responding once I contacted them. It turned out that while the mailbox had been listed as "in stock" on the site, it was in fact backordered for 2 to 3 weeks. Why the charge to my credit card in that case? And why was it listed as "in stock" on the site?
When I asked them to go ahead and send the house numbers, they did. For the price, I found the house numbers to be very light weight, though they do seem to be well made. I had to keep contacting them about the mailbox, and each time they did respond quickly. The mailbox is supposed to arrive today (May 19th, more than a month after I ordered it). Given the quality of the house numbers (made by the same company), I'm not expecting to be amazed. The box is unique, which is why I was willing to wait. But for the price ($250 total, for both the numbers and the box) I would expect both higher quality and a more efficient ordering system. I just hope it at least holds up well...though again, the light weight nature of the numbers is not awe inspiring.
I guess my feeling regarding the whole thing is, if you want a unique mailbox, well, they have a very big selection. But don't expect to receive it anytime soon. Your credit card will be charged immediately and they won't contact you to let you know what's up unless you contact them. If I had it to do all over again, I think I'd choose a different company, even if it meant buying a more ordinary mailbox. "
