"There were many sites I visited that offered a replacement voltage regulator but none of them, other than marineengine.com, included important technical documentation along with images of the part. The replacement part had fewer wires than the original so I was reluctant to order this expensive part until I had read the technical info which explained that due to a design improvement, the extra wire was no longer needed.
