"Getting my captains license was not easy. I accepted the challenge. I went all the way through; six pack, 50 Ton masters, MROP, Sailing endorsement, and towing endorsement with Mariners. I did it in NJ with Captain Andy, and would do it with mariners again if I had to go back. It's a huge amount of material covered in a short amount of time. Captain Andy has high energy and kept us on our toes for the six pack, and the gears in our brain always moving to keep us attentive and always learning. Other instructors are the same. The additional on-line courses were awesome and available on my schedule which is always full. Mariners awesomeness made it happen for me. This outfit is a 10 out of 10. I had no issues with the Coast Guard after completing all tests with Mariners Learning. Mariners helps with this process with the Coast Guard as well."
"I came in with the ulterior motive of having the credentials to charter out our forward cabin someday, but as a dedicated sailor I was glad to fill in the gaps in my learning curve. The world’s waterways would be a safer place if more boaters took these courses. The material was well-organized, and clearly presented with animations and graphics. The quizzes and flash cards were good prep for the final exams. I’ve already made good use of the content out on the water. Also, kudos to the staff for prompt responses to any questions I had. "The courses prepared me for the tests perfectly well. Quizzes after each module provided an excellent grasp of whether I understood the course material. There were plenty of opportunities, what with flashcards, lecture notes, quizzes, and exercises (in the chart plotting section) that allowed me to be sure I had mastered the material before taking the USCG exams.
The instructions for taking the proctored, online exams were very clear. I found effective a particular tactic: They make you take a trial exam on how well you understand the rules of the exam, including set-up of your room and computer, before you are allowed to take the Coast Guard-approved exam. I got a clear idea of what was expected of me without any give-aways about what was actually on the test; at the same time, after doing the coursework, quizzes, module tests, and flashcard study, I was more than ready for the actual exams.
Prompt notification and thorough explanations of what you need to do to get the actual license are easily findable, and the customer service team is always responsive, patient, understanding, and clear when responding to any technical issues, questions about the courses or procedures, and, in my case with Nick V., who kept a running conversation with me for nearly a year, a bit of hand-holding.
As a result, I was able to pass the six exams (four for OUPV, and one each for master's upgrade and sailing endorsement)
with a total of three incorrect answers. More importantly, I will now bore my friends and aggravate any naysayers with my thorough understanding of the rules, practices, and legal aspects of boat-handling and skippering!"

"After spending 37 years in retail, I found myself ready for a change. Wife and I packed up our stuff and moved to a new town, for a new start. After a little push from my wife, I looked into what it would take to get my MMC. With the love of boating, fishing, and being on the water, that had to be my next move. I looked online, did some research, and came across, Mariners Learning. Another push from the wife and the order was placed. Scared like crazy, I opened the program, and found myself engrossed in the pages. It was amazing, easy to navigate, and was laid out in a way that even a child could find his way. I made a packed to myself that I would put in 6 hours a day. 6 hours flew by, and i couldn't stop. The chapter test were dead on, and easy to do. After about a month, I was ready to take the main test. Again scared my old mind would not have retained what was needed, I started the testing. Again, it was laid out easy going, and I was able to pass all the test. Now I just got word that my MCC Master 100GRT has been mailed. I can't thank Mariners Learning Enough "

After ordering, books arrived within three business days. I was able to start right away online with lectures after purchase. I called daily for questions and was able to speak with someone immediately(no holds or email only)about preparing, what to do next after, the steps. I was able to speak with Nick about everyday. "I took my OUPV course in 2019 and it was a great system preparing me for my 6 pack license. It seemed like an easy choice to go there for my deck renewal course in 2024. The course was great, laid out well and was a big help in getting me ready. The convenience of everything on line was great as well. The only thing I really didn't like and why I won't use them again for a deck renewal course is the amount of time it takes to get the results from the final proctored exam. I took the exam on a Saturday and they quote 3-5 business days to provide results. I can't understand what could possibly take that long to grade 100 questions that are done on a computer? Had they been more expeditious in getting results to me it would have been a 5 star rating. As of the following Wednesday, which is when I am writing this, I still do not have results. While waiting I looked into other providers and there are better options for the renewal course. Next time I need to do it, I'll be using one of them."
